This doctor has figured it out. What works for a 25 year old mostly does not work for a 50+ woman. It's all about hormones - mainly insulin.
insuline drives our diseases in the body...use it wisely,,,and cause no inflammation with sugar and carbs..thats key...fasting helps with that and cut all sugar white flour and carbs...
Yes for sure. Trying to lose weight in your 50’s is SO much harder than keeping the weight off at age 25
I lost sixty pounds or so on my own also. I try to stay vegetarian or chicken, fish and seafood. I eat pretty healthy. I try to have mostly meatless meals. I lost the weight on my own. I was 276 pounds at my heaviest. I weigh 211 pounds. My goal is to get back to 175 pounds. I like having curves.
Ideally, a year from now, I'll be echoing your words.
Cheers
Congratulations
are you counting the fish for the meatless meals or no?
Wow good for u girl🎉❤
U make 175? Hope so.
I lost 90 pounds in 2017 and have kept it off going on 6 years as of Jan 16th I haven't eaten anything with Sugar or flour in the past 6 years (No cookies, no soda, no cake) That's my secret. BTW it is very tough for me to keep off the weight. The main reason is that there is too much food choices out there. Ever been to a party with lots of food and you're the only person not eating. Well it's tough.
This is how I lost weight years ago-white sugar, white flour-it can be just as addictive as drugs and alcohol.
Try baking cookies with low carb flour and keto chocolate chips. Almond flour doesn’t contain sugar and it’s extremely low carb and there’s some keto chocolate chips made with monk fruit sweetener and they are divine! I don’t do flour but I love cookies. Check out videos for keto chocolate chip cookies. 😊
Oftentimes it’s really lack of sleep, depression, hormones, and lack of being active NOT FOOD!
@@kita3256 There are some "Keto?Carnivore" famous people and for the life of me-I cannot understand why they keep posting "How to eat cookies"- with all these "Keto friendly recipes. We just need to get off all the sweets and artificial sugars!
@@jillf24maybe because some people really love sweets and dont wanna go 50 years without being able to eat a cookie. If i can have a cookie or brownie every once in awhile with low or no sugar than whats the issue?
went off sugar radically...........like that is soooo easy. "took a class" what class?, "took a supplement and the weight came off", was that the magnesium? Never said what her thyroid problem was. Too much vagueness for me.
Yep she's possibly "writing a book" to help us learn! :o/
Google and You Tube … you’ll find what’s right for you. Follow Dr Mindy Peltz.
Totally Agree with You...she is speaking but saying absolutely nothing!!!
And like everyone else she lost weight on ozempic.
If you read between the lines, she had to "fix her" problems. When you do things holistically, it's based on what's going on in YOUR body. I use a holistic doctor and she did just that and I lost 65 lbs. My husband lost 85 lbs. Two different protocols because we had different issues that caused the weight gain and what damage done to our bodies previously had to be "fixed". That's why there weren't specifics.
Maddening how little information I got out of this.
I had to fix it. How did u fix it
She actually said a lot of important info but you are either too dense or distracted to appreciate her words.
I never attacked anyone like you just did. I did not find this video actionable. But if you did great. Why don’t you use your real face if you’re going to insult people?!
@@michelleedwards9477from what I understood she cut out sugar , gluten and dairy. Took magnesium supplement. And dealt with her thyroid issues. Cut out inflammatory foods, eat more veggies and good fats everyday and strength train
I’ve literally stopped eating processed foods, lowered my carbohydrate intake and substituted for more healthier carbs like fruits and veggies opposed to starches, I limit how much sugar I consume, I increased my protein intake (I didn’t realize how little protein I was consuming until I began watching my micros/macros) to 165g, I lowered the amount of sodium I consume--I was literally eating 3x-4x the amount of recommended sodium and there is soooo much food that is high in sugar and sodium, I stopped eating out frequently which I LOVED fast food but now I prefer to cook at home even experimenting with foods and creating things that I enjoy eating, however still adhering to my diet. I’ve lost about 60lbs and kept it off for a long time, my concern was more about adopting new sustainable behaviors that would replace unhealthy ones, ex. I replaced soda and energy drinks completely for flavored seltzer water and black coffee (yeah, at first I despised the taste but I only focused on changing those foods since I realized it was what I was consuming on the daily) then in time I substituted almond milk for whole milk, after that everything just slowly fell into place. In about a years time I realized that I had completely changed my diet to foods that I still enjoyed, however when I would go shopping it was now a habit and I would pick the right foods on a subconscious level! That’s when I truly surprised myself and felt in complete control of my diet. I was heavy all my life and I knew I could lose the weight rather quickly but my goal was more to live a healthy lifestyle yet keep the weight off long term! Believe me, if I can do it, you can too! I paired all this up with a steady routine of gym work, I tend to go without fail on my off days, usually do about an hour, then on some workdays I will go and do a 30 min but if I feel energized then I’ll push myself longer. I also HIGHLY recommend you study the nutritional facts on foods, I downloaded two apps that have helped my in choosing the right foods and keeping track. You’d be SHOCKED how many foods have all this cancer causing additives and stuff that is proven to change your dna. I’ve learned soo much about nutrition that I’m considering pursuing an education in nutrition. I’m not the same man I was a few years ago and my family sees that and is just in awe by it. Anyway, best of luck to everyone on their fitness goals, if I did it, then you can too, just need to believe in yourself. Progress takes time. 💪🏻
165g???? I'm at 90g, and I thought I was doing a lot of protein. What is your height?
Congratulations on your health journey. I just started mine. It has only been 3 weeks, and I feel better. I am on a no sugar, no processed food, no flour diet. Focusing on whole foods, fruits and veggies, beans. Like you, my focus is not on weight loss but healthy, sustainable eating.
Also, you mention apps. Which ones do you like?
@@CB-vg1wq I use 3 different ones, MyFitnessPal, Yuka, and the gym that I go to apps.

Blessed to have this wonderful doctor in my life, our lives!
Im in my 30s with pcos, Ive given up added sugar completely- but the weight although doesn’t increase but hasn’t even decreased,I dont eat anything out of a bag, only fresh fruits and veggies, adding an hour of walk only helps except till I stop

Go low carb
I’d like to know how to find thyroid issues when regular tests don’t show the problem.
Blood work will show if your thyroid is off. In 2018 I started losing weight like crazy (close to 40 lb in a couple of weeks) when I've struggled all my life with my weight. I lost so much muscle that I couldn't even hold my body upright. I was hyperthyroid and diagnosed with Graves disease. After a couple of years of trying to regulate it with medicine, I had my thyroid removed. It was way larger than they expected and they were worried about cancer. I gained the weight back very quickly and now struggle trying to lose again. Can't win.
You need to have specific tests done to check the thyroid
You need to ask for a full thyroid panel. Most doctors only look at the TSH and that’s it. It is located in the brain and communicates with the thyroid. The TSH can be normal, but a person can still have issues with their thyroid. A full thyroid panel will tell you so much more. Mine was sluggish.
@@forestr5808, pray about it sister .
Interesting, we all have a number. Mine was 232 15 years ago. Now within 5 lbs of high school weight of 185. Not stopping til 175.

Just had a plethora of testing done at Functional Medicine Doctor. Was found to have High Leptin, low pregnenalone and prediabetes. Sounds like this doctor had similar issues. What is a good dosage to start pregnenalone? Which one is good? Is transdermal or sublingual effective?

She hasn’t said anything
I agree, her comments were limited. I lost weight and got rid go migraines by no processed foods, no sugar, no flour. It was sorta easy because I was fed up with feeling tired and headaches.
She said she did weight training, cut carbs, sugar, added a magnesium supplement, she cut out dairy, gluten, she found out what foods she didn’t agree with by starting over with a bland diet and seeing what foods caused a reaction.
She said a lot of important points but you are either too dense to distracted to appreciate her words

I had a calculus teacher 40 years at the University of Pennsylvania…I remember him telling our class that he lost 25lbs becoming a vegetarian…hmmm..
Never thought much about it at the time because I was a starving college student and thin…now decades later, I have found eating a vegetable based diet and drinking only water has kept my weight down to my college-age weight…Plus, I don’t keep anything unhealthy in my house…no cookies, cake..only dark chocolate
Great 👍
IMHO she is talking about low carb/Keto. No sugar, low carbs, no flour etc. But she will not say it.
I understand why you might think that but a lot of keto which I'm on also has a lot of dairy so she's not on there yet so I see why she did mention she do. But they are different forms of the keto diet some is dirty keto some is healthy keto there's dairy-free keto which is really good but I get why it's taboo yeah it's changed my life even when I get off track it was a game-changing me to leave outside a prayer during covid
she should say it...real keto with whole foods...WORKS!!
She didn’t say low carbs, she said no GLUTEN and no dairy or sugar. There are plenty of healthy, UNPROCESSED carbs that are fine to eat - yams, old fashioned plain rolled oats, brown rice, non-starchy and starchy veggies, legumes/beans, etc

So what's the magnesium to take to lose weight and curb sugar cravings?
Yes and it helps you sleep too
The one that’s naturally found in foods.
It's easily found in nuts such as walnuts
Sounded like she took Ozempic to regulate her blood sugar.
There are many types of magnesium. Depends on what you are trying to do. One is good for brain, one for energy, one is easily digested etc… do a quick search and you can decide what you are trying to do!
I cut out out all carbs and sugar and upped my cardio and i am dropping weight and very energetic. Sugar is bad, once you kick sugar your levels come in line and you burn fat again.
Low carbs is the best way but difficult. Thanks for sharing

She looks between 45-50
Hmmm not sure if this is a stunt or not. Lots of times these people have just had some type of bariatric surgery but claim they lost the weight by simply eating a healthy diet, exercising and taking supplements. She was vague in her answers and her body proportion is off (her legs are still thick…usually a telltale sign of weight loss surgery).
I see: Doctor Who.
I click.
Oops. Wrong: Doctor who...
Me too!
I'm 63 and vegan for 8 years. Weight loss is VERY difficult after age 50. I put on a few mounds be eating a lot of starches (rice, pasta, beans) after going vegan. Trying to lose those few pounds takes much longer now than it did when I was in my 20s and 30s. Even at 40 it was easier to lose weight. I have a friend who told me her mother was 72 and was eating like a bird to lose weight but could not lose weight.
I do all these things and still haven't been able to lose weight
Try intermittent fasting... I started again this past Monday... Eating from 12pm-8pm only... I've stepped my protein up a bit, but I'm not restricting what I like... Still having my coffee with sugar and creamer, but with only 8 hours to eat, I'm making sure I'm consuming quality.
I've been doing at least 20 mins of cardio each day (stepper, stationary bike, grow with jo) and I've been dropping weight daily... I'm down 4.2 pounds in less than a week.
Keeping a log of my daily weight and exercise.
I use Calm powder magnesium I take it before I go to bed actually, I take it throughout the day, but it’s supposed to also make you sleepy. It’s great for cramps and muscles and I cannot live without it. I mix it with my apple cider vinegar and soda water.
I've lost 60lbs and 40lbs before and the 40lbs was harder for some reason but I literally ate what I wanted I just reduced how much I ate. I started listening to my body. I waited to actually feel hungry before I ate, I let myself be hungry for a bit before I ate then once I began to eat I would stop as soon as I felt full. I used my sleep to fast so after 8pm I ate nothing until the next morning. I drank the chocolate atkins protein shakes for breakfast some days they filled me up til lunch. The weight came off bc I had a job where I barely sat down. Now I am very sedentary so I have to be conscious of that and make sure when I can move around I'm getting some exercise. At one point when I had the job where I barely sat down I got down to 118lbs which looked horrible as I am 5 foot 6 inches. Now I am between 130 and 135 which is a good weight for my height.
What was the supplement?
Ozempic. She made it sound like it was just vitamin b or something. 🙄
Eat what u want.. moderation and exercise
It isn’t just trainers who perpetuate the meth that you you need to exercise more and eat less to lose weight it is the medical industry and doctors who are not trained in the real causes of obesity and that it isn’t just about self control and laziness, this is the real reason so many never get better, the underlying issues for these people are never addressed they’re dismissed.
Yep
No disrespect that is people have been saying that for years it less do more. If you are person is unable to process carbohydrates you can even less down you want you not drop a pound trust me I've been through the same thing. My my sister and I was on the same diet I would work out 7 days a week I would not lose a single pound I would eat saucer portion size didn't jump now. But the moment I got rid of dairy and major carbohydrates the winds came off without any so that's a myth not everybody is the same and carbohydrates and sugar affect people differently and even Gary had a different effect on me with alani and many others to gain weight Isle of islay method she's not talking about anything to talk about a program that is effective and it works
I'm so sorry honey that you're so misinformed but it's okay you will learn one day.
I have a thyroid disorder for 16 years. It’s calories in calories out. I went into menopause at 37. If you eat too many calories than you burn, you gain weight.
Calories in and calories out is not a "myth". It is, and will always be, the only way to control your weight. Period. I can assure you this is the way this woman did it. She is just beating around the bush with hormonal, thyroid, gut health BS.
I can't make head or tail of this. How did she do it?
No sugar, gluten or dairy. Basically dairy free Keto.
Sounds like a whole lot of medical assessments not available to most of us
She talked too fast, breezing through some of the key points.
Amazing
This helps no one. Self promotion of her TikTok.
She created her own supplement which I'm sure she markets on her TikTok.
Shu is basically following a keto / low carb diet but throughout her interview refused to give credit to these diets … instead she just says “ got rid of sugars”😂
"Advocate for yourself."😘🙂😃😋
Lost 15 lbs quickly, then stopped completely, on 1,200 or 1,000 cal a day, which is nothing. So I gave up. The missing key back then is that a few min. Of cardio boosts the metabolism. If the body thinks we’re starving it , the metabolic rate slows down to zero.
She said she took a supplement? What does that mean medication injectables what kind of supplement?
I took it to mean ozempic. 🙄 Like, just say that!
She sells a supplement on her website. This is an advertisement without saying it’s an advertisement.

That was pretty much about women. Does this apply to overweight men as well?
as she mentions, it's much harder for women to lose weight once they've started perimenopause (the few years before the full cessation of the menstrual cycle) and full on menopause. A lot of it is the change in hormones.
I feel like the answer is to eat less and exercise more. It seems so easy but I can't do it.
Actually that’s the old science of losing weight. It can work, but it’s too hard to maintain. That’s why people on the show, The Biggest Loser, gain all their weight back and more. The key is keeping insulin down. When people eat all day long, their insulin remains elevated. The insulin begins to store fat if you’re insulin resistant. You should eat healthy foods and not snack. Stay away from obvious sugars like cookies, cake, etc. and also stay away from foods that turn to sugar like breads, muffins, pasta, etc.
@@crh251Very true….That is why folks who sip any beverage all day long, ..keeps their insulin levels high & cannot lose weight…drinking only water is a key component to weight loss

She did not do this to assist most women, she did it to assist the elite. It is $1200 per month to even be seen by her, and that is regardless if you have insurance that she does accept. This is in addition to all of the fees that will not be covered by any insurance in the State of Washington. She has no alternative program or even a testing alone program, so you can at least get to the source of the torture if you are anything like myself, to the reason your health got where it is, even when you did all the correct holistic choices, and really, or not.
For women who have been searching and searching and can see by her talk, she knows "exactly" and knows no one else is doing this work (or so I thought), in an all-in-one facility, you would think she would have compassion. This fine fee does not get you treatments you would and will have to pay, but you will have access to the health coach and get 10% off supplementation (that's the perk). We are talking thousands to be treated for conditions that do not just clear up quickly, by the nature of the conditions she mentioned.
I would not be complaining but she used this as a publicity stunt, to raise so many millions of women's hopes who are in serious pain, emotional and physical misery, and not by any means only myself. Just to have her very cold "ba-bye" (exactly like the women in the Beverly Hills boutique from Pretty woman) so obviously say with such snobbery and arrogance, that there is not one other option. And she "doubled" the price I was told, from last year (doubled since the interview). I was willing to spend a lot to see her, in addition to my insurance covered cost and co-pays. For genetic testing, MRI, and CT scans of an adrenal mass my family and I are very concerned about, for testing and a protocol, period and you name it but 1200 a month out of pocket, just to be seen by her? And not I would not, or do not hold a respectable job, I could not! I honor others' prosperity, but this is ridiculous and there should have been more transparency about it before you raise the hopes of thousands if not more women, and give this woman the opportunity of a lifetime, for millions who cannot afford her services. I was surprised to see you did this Today show, been watching you since I was a little girl. I will be resourcing others who have what she offers in addition to medical ethics and compassion, my daughter and I are already seeing someone that may offer even better services in another part of Washington for visitation at $299.
When I went on her Instagram in protest and to inform the women, she blocked me in less than 60 seconds, in fear someone would find out before she could reel them in. The more I think about it, anyone who would go through what she went through and leave all of us who cannot afford 1200 plus so much more per month, is not someone I want to place my health in her greedy and incompassionate hands. Someone who would truly honor the suffering she went through, would be offering a sliding scale fee per day, or providing a physician's assistant at a lesser cost, "something", and when she knows at our age, many of these are life-threatening. I wish the best to the patients that give her their money and health concerns,I am happy for their ability to afford her, please know. I am sure (or at least her story looks that way) she is a good Doctor addressing a big concern millions have not found the answer for, I wish them the best. I pray for her a softer heart, and greater ethics in what it means to be a Doctor, and a healer, and knowing it was not just her hard work that blessed her with the healing and knowledge, it was given and not just for her.
She certainly did not provide any advice at all in this interview. Once I heard her say Insulin- I new it was the new diet drug for diabetes-which every Dr. will tell you-once you go off the the pills, you will gain it back and more!
I think now she charge $1600
For the majority of people in the comments, it's pretty simple...
1. Figure your life out. Get your crap in order.
2. Cut out all b.s in your life.
3. Try getting 7-8 hours of sleep daily.
4. Eat as natural as you can, cut out as much processed foods, sugars.
5. Walk a lot and lift weights every now and then.
6. Stay consistent.
That's all it takes. You don't need no magic pill or fad diet. You don't need to run a marathon everyday or live at the gym.
@@jrelpantera1982 When I called, the receptionist said 1200 per month! (think about that) That is before labs, x-rays, medication (holistic or pharmaceutical) Out in here in Washington State we have expensive Doctors and although Naturopathic is under many PPO insurances, the medicines are not covered etc. I know functional medicine of the famous Dr. Mark Hyman, to see someone in his direct wellness center in I believe in upper NYC is like $2500 but not a month!
We are talking , for labs, consultation, instructions, additional telemedicine, nutritional plan , and this is the man behind the name functional medicine to begin with! She cannot come close to the level of expertise and its to which where most of the Holistic high end practitioners obtain the example from.
I think the Doctors should get paid well but, there should always be a way for there to be an alternative means for those suffering who do not have. Healing from disease with the correct medication and treatments should not be a luxury, it should be a rightful need, a Country supported absolute, merciful; to include whole food nutrient dense organic education and supply for all. And although the Governments should find a way to assist the people of this Country and compensate innovative Doctors, (which healthy people are good for the economy), so they are not held responsible for our health. no one should be offered a platform to be exposed to only the population that could afford her services, while millions of women desperately ignored, in pain, losing years of their/our lives, some suicidal (not myself), inflammation, hormonal nightmares, chronic fatigue, organ health at risk or already damaged, hair loss, (families at risk from having an undiagnosed highly misunderstood real illness,) and that dangled before our very faces, Today show, what were you thinking?
Illnesses that not only make our years tortured, missed, lost, miserable, but scientifically proven to be leading us to illnesses that can lead to horrid suffering and untimely deaths. On the lighter side, losing our youth unnaturally, our confidence, our youthful and authentic and unique beauty, our groove. Societies disdain and misunderstanding, for those of us who live a healthy regime to our minds, who have to disregard of us for most and especially those with such high levels of cortisol stress from below, right above, above income, in ways it is a testimony that millions are not already dead, once those years are gone, they are gone!
Having to become what we think is genetics of our mothers behind us, only to find out those poor darlings did not even have a clue and if or for those that did, who would listen, who knew? Or did they? Who knows. And the best part is (drum roll please), it was the foods they turned into poison from their manufacturing practices/poisons/pesticides, chemicals most cannot pronounce, that has done this to us in the first place!
@@jrelpantera1982 per month? Because I nearly fell back when I was told 1200 monthly, which does not include anything but membership to see her.

The “supplement” seems to be what people don’t want to talk about and that’s probably how they lose most of the weight. Are they Diet supplements??
I agree with other commenters, she is very nonspecific in her recommendation.

I no buy junk food or take sugar with coffee, anymore. I be lying if I say, I feel results immediate after or 8 year later. But. It do affect how you see people, who need a lot of sugar in diet, outside of nations with super amazing sugar like Jamaica. I phasing out sugar, when I go Jamaica 10 year ago, and coffee time, the sugar a super super amazing experience. It feel great take 3 coffee with Jamaican sugar. That strengthen resolve to not intake sugar in lesser sugar country. We eating lead, compare to other country enjoy natural sugar. People think 'Sugar in the Raw' a 'natural' sugar. It no different than white sugar. One taxi driver, I know, tell me how he eat same breakfast for 20 year, fried plaintain, scramble egg, toast, coffee and fresh orange juice. I already been to Jamaica like 3 time, so I understand. He eat like a king. Very cool dude.

ETA: maybe the host should also mention she sells her unmentioned supplement on her website. I guess this is more of a commercial than anything.
Maybe she lost weight because she was eating better (especially when she comments that she did food testing and low sugar) which would in turn cause a calorie deficit and lead to weight loss? Agree there is tons of hidden sugar in the standard American diet and ultra processed foods should be avoided or rarely consumed. Weight training is also excellent for weight loss since if you can increase your muscle mass naturally with weight bearing activity you will lose more since muscle is calorie demanding.
But let's also address the numerous people who have no underlying health problems who are gluttons. Its. fact that many people live to eat instead of eating to live.
