Idk why but this ride makes me sad. I remember hype about a swinging ride mechanic and all these weird effects and was exited to see animatronics and set pieces (even tho there is an amazing animatronic one outside). but still though there was so much potential and it delivered the barest of minimums sad
@@ZRovas117 like a side to side pendulum that moves like their Peter pan ride. You'd have near misses and stuff as you swung. I think it was gonna be a slightly dangerous design is something stopped where you could potentially smack into things and also the design seemed like it'd put a.lot of stress on the chassis which would've be suspended from the ceiling.
@@ZRovas117 If i remember concept art correctly, it would be like a suspended coaster, where you sit in a 4 passenger car and swing around set pieces to mimic Spidey's webswinging.
I am, perhaps, the biggest Disney fan around so it pains me to say this; Enough with the digital effects and projections... Bring back physical sets and imaginative story telling. Build attractions like they do in Tokyo and Shanghai. They only had a few acres to work with; they should've concentrated more on attractions rather than gift shops. I thought they learned their lesson from Galaxy's Edge...
Even GE had so much more. They could have easily made a shooting gallery style game where it's all physical sets (adjusted for space and perspective) and just cleverly hidden the spiderbot screens in props so it's not one screen, but 8 or so smaller screens. Or do what they did with Runaway Railway with 2.5D, that would've been perfect for a layered projection and screen combo.
their "lesson" unfortunately was that that kind of low effort themed expansion is just as, if not, more profitable than a high budget, top quality land with practical effects and sets
Here's the thing, digital projection technology is cheaper to use then building real props. (I know, I've used a lot of projections for backdrops in live theater productions.) Plus, all you have to do to change anything is load it in to Photoshop and edit it as apposed to having to tear down and rebuild a real prop. But I agree, I would expect a lot more from a company called Disney. But hey, even the big boys screw up now and then and Disney has quite a history of blunders and screw ups.
This ride seems to be set to much lower standards than usual disney rides, the fact that you can see the track itself and other ride vehicles so clearly doesn't seem like something disney would normally do, especially if you compare it with galaxy's edge, another attraction based on a high budget franchise. I think the ride as a concept is not bad but they should have used props where they could and dome screens, preferably with a trackless ride vehicle for more complex shootout scenes in open rooms. They litterly sell working spider bots in the gif shop, so why not put some in the attraction to shoot at? With some wires you cab easily make wall and ceiling climbing versions too.
That's what I was saying too! They sell toy spiderbots and they couldn't be bothered to make a small swarm of them descending on the walls? Or even just good projection mapping?
@@AmusementLabs What they should have done with this was a sort of shooter varient of mickeys and minies magical railroad adventure. The techniques used in that ride would integrate flawlessly into a spiderman ride like this, theme the ride vehicles as a school bus and tour the streets of new york fighting off a big spiderman villain like misterio, because there are other ride vehicles in the room with you it adds a big feeling of competitiveness and maybe they could even give players limited control over the movement of their ride vehicle
@@alucard2010 Obviously they’re not the same but they’re both Spiderman rides so of course I’m going to compare them if they were completely different themes than there would be no comparison No one can deny that the one in Universal is better have you seen that ride compared to this ?
@@alucard2010 I understand but one is clearly better than the other. On both you accompany spider man on an adventure one is a great ride with cool ride mechanics and usage of set pieces and special effects the other is a toystory mania ripoff sorry
@@alucard2010 I've seen your comments under every Spiderman ride video that criticizes it. Either you were one of the designers for this ride, or just a huge Disney defender
People didn't care much for Galaxy's Edge until Rise of the Resistance came along, so I'm really hoping that the Avenger's Quinjet ride will do the same for Avenger's Campus. At least we still have Mission Breakout. I think Webslingers serves as a good appetizer round just like the Millennium Falcon.
This ride is actually worse than Justice League: Battle for Metropolis. At least JL has some physical props and animatronics. I don't know why Disney chose to work with Triotech of all companies when they could've done a better job making the ride in house.
My guess is that when they did Rise of the resistance, and tried piecing together several ride system elements by themselves and failed miserably (they put elements of the system in upside down and then encased them in concrete), they decided to use an off the shelf ride system that was much easier and more reliable. But that's just my guess.
Don't forget, the web shooters you buy for almost 60 bucks gives you more points when using it throughout the ride. This is basically EA pay-to-win tactics
Still a very professional and FAST in-depth explanation. Opinions on the ride experience may vary, but your inside look makes me very much want to ride it myself just to see it work (or not work) irl. Thanks for continuing to crank out high quality and interesting content.
@@fabiowilson3720 yeah, I was surprised there wasn't really anything to distinguish it from Ninjago. Disney always finds that little extra feature that makes it better, or at least they use to.
@@AmusementLabs I think they did. Just like Miday Mania was an improvement over traditional shooting rides, this is going further than Ninjago. On that ride, you could only launch projectiles. On Spider-Man, the web respond differently and you can even catch an objet and pull it toward you. And the motion detection looks much better than on Ninjago. I think this ride can be quite fun, although I agree about the laziness regarding the design of the actual ride.
Here are my thoughts on what this should have been: A ride where you shoot webs with Spider-Man is honestly a good concept, but there are better ways to do it than hand controls. I would have been fine with guns being shaped like web-shooters to keep people from tiring out their arms. As far as story, that needs the most change. I would have liked it to be about Vulture and Mysterio teaming up to steal some technology and you have to stop them. Mysterio's drones could be the army of things for people to one-shot and the final battle with both villains could look awesome is the Elementals came into play. I also wish the cars moved a bit to seal the immersion. Just some ideas.
I feel like they took worked around a web cannon to not make it feel TOO similar to the Buzz Lightyear ride. Plus Mysterio and Vulture probably wouldn’t work since the Avengers campus is in a universe where Thanos never happened. But yeah Vulture could’ve worked
@@goonishereva I think Vulture would just be fun. Also, can you tell me where you found the fact that this is a no Thanks universe? I didn’t know that and would love to read about it.
@@ThemeParkAvenue Vulture would absolutely be great to see brought back I fully agree. Also here www.google.com/amp/s/www.ocregister.com/2021/06/01/disneyland-everything-you-need-to-know-about-avengers-campus/amp/ it mentions its place in the timeline around paragraph 6
People are making the excuse of "this isn't supposed to be an E-ticket ride". Okay, fine, so let's compare it to another ride that is also the "non E-ticket" of its land: Smugglers Run. Smugglers Run is similar as it was the only ride available when Galaxy's Edge prematurely opened, before its E-ticket ride was ready. The difference is that Smugglers Run actually made an effort to be as thematic, unique, and polished as possible so that guests weren't as worried about when the E-ticket, Rise of the Resistance, was going to open. Web Slingers won't have the same effect, people will get tired of it quickly and start clamoring for the E-ticket.
@@AmusementLabs This is definitely not the same tech as Ninjago tho. In that one you have to hover your hand over the lap bar and its sensor, whereas in Spider-Man you seem to have more freedom.
The land appears to be extremely underwhelming. I think the idea (on paper) seemed great but doesn't make me want to pack up and head to California to experience this land for just 1 ride (that isnt unique or new), a shop, and an eatery. Plus, not to mention this land is very small and not as grand/elaborate as Galaxy's Edge.
I think it was probably pretty limited by the space of the Bug's Life theater, limiting how much space could actually be used and that ended up being only screens. The idea of being able to shoot without any extras like in Midway Mania and Astroblasters is actually pretty cool, perhaps adding a more team-based storyline like in Smuggler's run would've made it more unique.
I have to agree with you on that one. If you think about it. Disneyland has a very limited amount of real estate to work with because the city surrounds it as apposed to Disneyworld where they have a lot more real estate to work with and can expand outward.
It's not a new technology, Disney fans are praising them like they found a cure for cancer even though Legoland has been using this technology since 2016
Its quite a bit different and next level from Lego Land. That's like saying Buzz and Midway Mania share the same tech. They have made huge advancements, but unfortunately, from a guest perspective, you can't really tell the difference and the ride itself is mediocre.
1. Add a soft motion platform to the ride vehicles. Nothing crazy, just enough sway to add to the immersion. 2. Use vulture as the 'main antagonist'. It makes sense that he would be drawn to an avengers facility that's practically handing out superhero gadgets. It'd also be cool to have a duel with him at the end instead of the giant spider bot. 3. More animatronics or special effects between the screens. Imagine at the end having a webbed up vulture next to spiderman, who is congratulating riders. Idk if this would help, but I'm interested in what solutions there could be to improve the ride, not just ambitious desires though, but practical stuff.
I’m a little confused why it seems a lot of people don’t understand that this was never meant to be an E ticket attraction? Like if avengers campus was Cars Land this ride would be Mater’s or if it was Toy Story Land this would be its Alien Swirling Saucers. And I’d much rather have this ride than either of those:) Avenger’s Campu already has an amazing E ticket ride in Guardians and is supposed to have another one on the way in the future, in the mean time this ride is meant for people of all ages, and to be able to get a lot of people through the line fast.
The fact that upcharges were more heavily advertised than the actual ride itself was a concern to me. I never heard any details about how cool the ride details were like we did with the shaman animatronic from the Avatar ride or detailed footage of the tivan collection from Guardians or about the different effects and details in Rise of the Resistance, for example. I only heard about how I can buy another RC robot (thanks I have my BB unit already, not getting a spider to gather dust next to it) and an upgraded plastic glove to make me shoot different pretend things at the screen. Glad to know it’s an upcycle from a Legoland ride. No shade on Legoland, but any time Disney takes their entire ride basis from a non Disney/Universal park it means it won’t end well.
Just went on it today! Was pretty awesome got a boarding pass and it went really well. In my opinion, it's an absolutely fantastic ride. I think it's a natural evolution from Buzz Lightyear Astro blaster-> Toy Story mania-> WEB SLINGERS. Super engaging and it really felt super accurate. The story was concise and made sense. I tend to also like original stories than movie recaps so I thought it was a good fit. It felt very action pack and honestly, I thought the animation was really good. If there was an issue, I would say you would only notice if you paused it. There's is A LOT going on screen and it's actually kinda hard to take in everything when you are that engaged. I'll be honest, the physical set transition from screen to screen I didn't even notice. The story made sense and had an escalating feeling of tension as the "incident" becomes larger and larger. It also ties the previous scene to the next via the type of bots that get introduced as the different colors do different things. The game itself was also very well thought out. There were multiple sections to the game like playing against a Time Crisis Boss and it would rate you on how many of the objectives you cleared and give you a bronze, silver, or gold medal. From the great tracking to interesting game elements, it landed really well. I really want to go back again and ride it more to see if I can't clear the objectives and change the scene. Compared to the Millenium falcon ride, this interactiveness actually makes me feel like what I'm doing matters, while in the falcon it should matter, but it's hard to feel like what you did had a meaningful effect on the game. Also, I didn't understand why they used a fully enclosed ride vehicle at first and the vehicle itself is REALLY large, I seen and read about it before I went, but I was not prepared for how large the vehicle was. Easily the biggest vehicle compared to any trackless ride vehicle. But the reason they needed the enclosed ride vehicle is to cut off your vision of the screen. It looks like the screen is super close to the glass itself and I almost thought it might actually just be projected in-vehicle instead of outside. But it makes it so that it doesn't look like your moving from screen to screen. The large interior, the super closeness of the screens, the fully enclosed ride vehicle, along with the very fast pace combat preventing from focusing on any 1 particular thing in detail sell the illusion that it's not a screen really well. I think it's one of the reasons why I didn't really notice when it transition from screen to screen as I felt the physical props between sets were actually just more screen (I knew it was a screen ride after all). After the ride when I like to think about how it's done. I thought that either they had a continuous screen as we moved through the building as you can feel the movement. Or that the large ride vehicle was due to a UST projector or something and it was projected in the vehicle. It's not an E-Ticket ride, but it does have a lot of reride value and I feel like is better than the Millenium Falcon (comparing recent openings) and Toy Story Mania. I did ride the Spiderman Ride in Islands of Adventure and that is a really cool ride. But it's completely different mechanics and appeals. It's like comparing Toy Story mania with Transformers the Ride at Universal. It's 2 vastly different ride systems and they are both very polished. It doesn't mean that only 1 of them is good and the other has to be bad. They are both entertaining and appeals to different elements of fun. I admit I was kinda disappointed to see the end of the video just dis the ride based on well a lot of people who probably haven't ridden it at all considering it's only been out a day (less from when you put the video up). I was kinda surprised this video was out soo soon too for that matter. My party certainly liked it quite a bit and I didn't see anyone leaving the ride look particularly disappointed. Rather it seems pretty well received. Besides the invited media opinion apparently not matter. If it's not good, the media will equally pan the ride. It's not like they have to give a good review. Just look at Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. It got pan by a lot of outlets with most giving a lukewarm reception. I honestly didn't read any other media outlet's review or whatever forum or blog as I wanted this to be a surprise. But I honestly can't imagine someone leaving the ride and just hating it. It's at the very least, a huge improvement over Toy Story Mania and that's a very popular ride.
As a non e-ticket attraction, I think webslingers is fine enough. Very curious if the lands e-ticket attraction is going to be a Marvel skinned Flight of Passage. If so, that will be the big draw and webslingers should get less criticism.
Amazing video, and just like many other people, I’m pretty disappointed that this Spider Man attraction didn’t attempt anything unique or memorable. The attraction is almost literally Lego Ninjago: The Ride, both of these have the same technology. And keep in mind that Ninjago: The Ride was built years ago. While I really like the concept of the Spider Man ride, it’s nothing too exciting when actually riding it. So yeah, it was very good idea, but poorly executed. I hope the E-Ticket attraction does this new campus justice.
I'm sure your video will be on point. Disney however, completely underwhelmed yet again. I understand we just had a pandemic, but, if that's what they can put out during the same time Universal puts out an attraction like velocicoaster, it speaks volumes about where Disney is at as a company. What Universal studios did with that as an intellectual property, completely changed the theme park industry. And it continues with SNW to this day. Anything less is not going to be acceptable. Personally, I don't see Disney continuing to try to compete with Universal studios anymore. They're just trying to keep up. Personally, I only go to MK as far as Disney parks are concerned and ride four attractions and leave. Potc, HM, Carousel of Progress and the People mover. That's it, then there's no reason to stay. It's all I care about in Wdw. And only because they at the time they opened were original attractions, not based on any IP (IP's didn't exist back then, at least back when those attractions opened). I've been many times over the years even since opening day at MK and it's completely a different experience now, than back then. I only go to those attractions about once every decade or so, just for the nostalgia of the time when I was a kid and experienced them for the first time. Universal on the other hand, is currently doing such a more through job at giving attractions and entire lands a more complete feeling, there's no way anyone could keep up. There's no comparison. Take Marvel superhero island, it was done in IOA 20 years ago and blows this Disney garbage away. There's no contest. Gotta give Universal studios the win, not just here but in everything they do (one exception, Fast and Furious Supercharged).
I'm not super stoked about this ride (or the proliferation of screen-based-rides altogether) but I also chalk this up to the space constraints at Disneyland. I'm absolutely floored by how cool Velocicoaster looks but I can't say it's fair to compare that to Disneyland. Maybe when Tron finally opens in 30 years we can throw the Velocicoaster comparisons around. I will agree though that Universal Orlando is hitting home run after home run. When I went to MK back in 2018 the only reason I went at all was for the rides you mentioned, and Happily Ever After + Magic Kingdom Trains tour. Kind of a disappointment overall, really. I can't say I agree with your statement of "IP's didn't exist back then" though, hahah; Peter Pan and Snow White weren't IPs? Pinocchio, Mr. Toad, 20K Leagues Under the Sea, Davy Crockett?
I see where you're coming from, but relying on screens it's really universal like. And I'm not sure if they really are stepping up their game. The Mario Kart ride looks like trash to me.
I agree with you except for the story. There is a story, it just sucks. I believe you're visiting an open house of a science fair for sorry at the Worldwide Engineering Bridge (WEB), Peter Parker's showcase starts having problems, he then asks you to help.
After going on it, its pretty good for what it is. If you're going in with no understanding of Avengers Campus or how California Adventure is laid out I can see why it's disappointing. I'm not disappointed because we all knew what was coming when they first announced it. They delivered what they said they would, I think the ride is pretty fun and the tracking is very responsive. Would have I liked a much grander and more villain-focused ride? Yeah, but I don't think they really could do something so grand in that theater plus add on space. I think people need to understand that this is just the appetizer, and for what they were trying to do with reusing the theater, you cant do much other than a small dark ride.
Thank you for using your platform to speak honestly about the ride. Disney lately has shown that they're more committed to greed and making money than creating an environment where magic happens. They made a cheap ride just to promote merchandise.
I mean.... The QuinJet ride is going to be Avenger Campus' star attraction, so......................... 1 "cheap" ride along with 2 other great rides, I'll take it.
@@CrackingCody that ride is 2-3 years out. Disney is showing greed. When it came to getting rid of passes, making paid add ones for the ride etc. I love Disney but we can't just blindly support them because of nostalgia. The ride sucks. They made it to sell spider bots
Marvel Land at Disneyland Anaheim seems very underwhelming. Most likely due to space constraints and maybe budget cutbacks 🤷♂️ nothing I've seen or heard about seems to match any of the expectations seemingly held by many people, including myself. But I'm very excited to see another quality video of yours!
This is just the appetizer so I’m not complaining I just think of it as a small fun ride for kids and some adults that go on it just gotta wait on the E ticket attraction they’re building there tho
Exactly! I feel like everybody was expecting something crazy and unheard of. But to me this ride is Avengers campus version of a merry go round in that it’s the rides that’s meant for the whole family but mostly kids. Now if the Avengers ride ends up being bad or not getting built I will be disappointed!
I really want to know who signed off on this attraction. This is something that would’ve been great at a place like DisneyQuest… NOT THE HEADLINER FOR MARVEL LAND
I've only watched videos & not yet rode it, so I don't know if the ride has any of this, but if not - I feel it was kind of a missed opportunity for the vehicles not to bob, thrust & vibrate like a simulator, making one feel as if your vehicle is being attacked by the spider-bots. Also, the sets could use sparks, fireballs & animation (even if simply projected) onto the scenery, making things seem like you're being threatened.
Absolutely. There's no 4D effects whatsoever. Which is weird considering what it replaced. They could have done like little bump seats like the spiderbots have gotten inside the vehicle and under you. They could have also done little hexagon light outlines like the spiderbots are cutting into your car with their little lasers. So much they could have done, so much they did on Rise and then they follow it up with *_THIS_* .
@@AmusementLabs - I guess the good thing is they could probably add most (if not all of) these things to the ride rather easily. They might very well do so eventually, but you only get to make a first impression once - so I feel they should've done a better one.
Web Slingers seems like a lazy rebrand and update to Six Flags' "Justice League - Battle for Metropolis" ride by Sally Corporation that originally premiered in 2015.
It's worse than that. At least JL had vehicles that spin and tilt and actually physical sets mixed with screens and physical enemies you could shoot at. Plus it costed just a fraction of what they likely spent on Spiderman.
Looking at the devices there must be more to the story than just broadcasting an IR code. On the base device there seems to be 1 IR LED that would point straight up, two that point straight out to the left and right and another two IR LEDs that point out to the left and right at about 45 degrees. To this the web module adds a second IR LED pointing up and one pointing at the screen. The Repulser module only adds one extra IR LED to the base that points at the screen. With all that extra IR the devices must be interacting with the geometry used by the ride mechanics in some way beyond the standard hand recognition.
Ah, maybe that's how they got around installing any kind of it code, it's more a visual mapping thing perhaps. Cause when you sit down you're probably gonna wave it around a little to where it can then recognize it for a split second and then swap to that mode. I hope someone films it in the dark cause I really don't want to have to buy one to take it apart.
@@AmusementLabs I got my hands on a power band and a web shooter module. I didn't have any test equipment to check it in detail. This is just observation. But it appears your initial idea that it is an IR beacon and nothing more is correct. All 5 IR LEDs on the band and the 2 on the web module all seem to be flashing the same. The band without any module just flashes very fast. With the projector module on it seems to repeatedly pulse out a code over and over. With the web module on it pulses out a different code and I would imagine the pulse cannon module causes it to pulse out a different code. Any buttons or options that might be available mean nothing in ride mode. So the only thing the ride must be getting from the band is the feature associated with the module you have attached. The rest is just the standard movement of your hands, with or without the band actually on your hand. I guess they just have all those IR LEDs to be sure the band is recognized by the ride no matter what orientation you have it in.
This land in general seems way less immersive than galaxy’s edge, as it was limited by space constrictions, but I imagine expansions will allow for a true, rise of the resistance e ticket ride like an avengers ride
I know you do videos on rides but have you considered making How It Works on shows? Like Fantasmic, World of Color, fireworks, etc? Really looking for a Fantasmic one! Anyways keep up the great videos!
The thing I don’t like about this ride is the lack of physical interactive sets... which are stuff that would make it truly Disney This just feels like they added a game to the Universal ride
Just road this ride a week ago. I came in knowing how short and simple this ride was, but I had fun, alongside my family. A couple of people who didnt know what to expect during the pre-show gasped when Tom Holland came on screen. I am assuming they thought he was actually there which I guess says a-lot about the effect used(which i cannot remember the name of, feel free to tell me). I was even shocked at how real the effect looked (even though I stood near the edge of the room close to the screen where I could see the light difference between the screen and the room)
I think the ride was great, instead of me thinking of it as a good ride, I think of it as a fun game. I really loved trying to get lots of points and work with a random team to earn points. I love Spider-Man and I gotta say the new ride is a blast and a half
I wonder if they considered having multiple endings, based on how many points the team gets during the ride? Change the story to have a couple of specific villains. Really high scores means the villains get killed off and the world is saved. Reserve this for later in the evening when the little kids are gone. Slightly lower scores have the defeated villains hauled off to jail. Next level down, the evil scheme is defeated, but the baddies escape. Lowest scores let the villains win, with the implication that some future battle will be needed. Maybe have special badges for any team that sets a new record high score? Disney loves to give out stuff for free!
@Amusement Labs, please create a video about the technology in the Spider-Man ride at Islands of Adventure in Orlando. I know that it’s old, but it’s one of my favorite rides, and it was the only one of its kind in the world when I rode it as a child. Also…. Rumors are that the new Harry Potter ride at Epic Universe could feature technology that is similar to the Universal Orlando Spider-Man attraction with modern technological advances.
It's an underwelming ride, but I can still appreciate it for the awesome tech involved with it, at least to a degree, and I have nothing against Triotech either.
I went on this last weekend and I thought it was fine. At the moment its not something I have to get in the virtual queue, like Rise of the Resistance. But when they get rid of the virtual queue and the line isn't too long for it I'll go on it. I'm looking forward to the E-ticket ride, then I feel Avengers Campus will be complete.
I love the disappoint in his voice and the (what I believe to be) subtle jabs at the ride like the, “it uses screen as opposed to projection map or physical set and props” and “Similar to Toy Story Midway Mania... which is located at the same park.”
That part was actually the first part I wrote cause I absolutely wanted to vent cause before it opened I had people saying I was pre judging it and being negative and I didn't know what I was talking about and that Disney would find a way to make it better... I TOLD YOU SO. 😅 Now all these people won't reply to me or they're talking like they never argued it would be better.
@@AmusementLabs man, just like you, I knew something was up with it. I only wished they would have used the same technology as the one done for Harry Potter. This ride does nothing to challenge the amazing ride at Universal, which is still going strong 22 years later
@@MegaSoulHero I don’t necessarily think that, after all we got both RotR and Runaway railway within 3 months if each other, I think it’s more that Disney has starting making it really obvious when they are actually putting effort into a ride, versus when they’re just trying to cash a check…
You should do the Haunted Mansion. I don’t know if you already did it or not because there was one part that still questions me today the window with the ghosts in them.
Good video. If it uses "pinch wheels" they would be either side of bus-bar/guide rail pinching the rail, not on top. This would make sense as the weight of the vehicle would be supported by other wheels and that weight wouldn't be required for traction. I couldn't see any marks on the floor from a tyre or wheel paths.
Hard to believe triotech came out with Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair and Web Slingers in the same year. A month apart from each other. Such a gap in quality.
This ride does not make me want to make a trip to California anytime soon. I'd rather go to Disney World where I can still get the fun rides from my days at Universal. I'm open to hearing more about the ride but so far I'd rather ride the old Spiderman back to back than this.
I feel the same way, IOA did a similar idea only better 20 years ago. I was looking forward to this ride but I'm pretty disappointed. Sometimes (as with the Mariokart attraction or the Velocicoaster) I'm not too excited but I know I should reserve judgement for when I experience it in person- the idea is that I WANT to go check it out. I don't really care one way or the other with this.
Legoland: *Hey, I've seen this one!* Disney: What do you mean, you've seen this? It's brand new My favorite thing about this ride is the fact they added Ned and Peter's Lego Death Star in the pre-show area at the top left corner. Such a good Easter egg
I must be the minority because I love this ride. It may have to do with several factors but here is my take. First off I have ridden this ride probably about 25-30 times if I had to guess. We go to Disneyland almost every weekend and ride it every time we make it to DCA. 1. I am getting older and have some physical limitations so while more active rides like roller coasters aren’t off limits, I do have to be more cautious. Space Mountain at WDW almost killed me in April. My back was not happy. 2. I have younger grandchildren and I like that they can ride this ride and they love the interactivity and that it’s Spider-Man. 3. I am very competitive and it is the one ride I can occasionally beat my husband at. I will agree with one commenter that said the use of screens vs practical sets is a trend that needs to stop. The reason people love Rise is because it has so many practical sets and immersive experience.
Ah, so the reason why it feels like a ride from LEGOland is effectively because it is. How disappointing. Universal Creative did a "ridable videogame" much better with Mario Kart in USJ.
I feel like instead of a shooting game ride they should had just made a regular dark ride. Not a marvel fan but it's whatever I wish disneyland brought batman now that's a hero.
Honestly I would just like an attraction wear your run on the speed mats that they used in the chase scene in Civil War through the tunnel that would be fun
@@AmusementLabs Don’t get me wrong, Spider-Bot infestations can be cool if done well. Just look at SG-1. This isn’t even close. Even when they’re flooding the area, it seems more like a minor inconvenience than an Avengers level threat.
@@AmusementLabs Imagine if the story was instead about Vulture or Mysterio stealing technology from WEB and you had to stop him and his cronies. That could be great.
Had a hour and 45 minute wait for this ride yesterday, after joining the queue. Disappointed to say the least. The new Star Wars ride with the queue feature was totally worth it. This think thoughts meh
Its not supposed to be an E-ticket so judging it based on that I think its decent, it could definitely use some music, supervilains (maybe ultron drones) and an animatronic
Or literally anything to distinguish it from Ninjago. I mean, not even 1 moving spiderbot? Really Disney? They make toys of them, don't tell me you can't make an animatronic swarm of moving spiderbots...
@@AmusementLabs I honestly prefer Ninjago because the screen actually moves and animation makes more sense for Lego Ninjago than live-action Spider-Man films.
Just rode this Saturday for my first time. It’s essentially the same as the Midway Toy Story ride… but with your hands instead of the pop gun. Huge let down and just not very fun.
This is just another screen/arcade ride. While screens can enhance a good ride they should not go Universals direction of making screen rides and over using them. There is nothing like good animatronics to impress people and to make rides more realistic. Screen rides are now over used and getting boring. Bring back to good old dark rides like Pirates of the Caribbean, Haunted mansion, spaceship earth that use real set's and animatronics. The best thing about avengers campus is the acrobatic robot.
Which is weird considering Universal has been moving away from screen rides as of the past few years with Hagrid's and after F&F. Cosmic Rewind is all screens and suddenly Disney fans are totally silent about that. Double standard.

That swinging ride really had potential.
@@AmusementLabs What was the proposed swinging ride like?
@@ZRovas117 like a side to side pendulum that moves like their Peter pan ride. You'd have near misses and stuff as you swung. I think it was gonna be a slightly dangerous design is something stopped where you could potentially smack into things and also the design seemed like it'd put a.lot of stress on the chassis which would've be suspended from the ceiling.
@@AmusementLabs is this not the ride patent that will be used for The Avengers e-ticket

@@lattelatourette yes it’s going to be very high budget like rise of the resistance. But it seems like construction is behind schedule
This ride is actually worse than Justice League: Battle for Metropolis. At least JL has some physical props and animatronics. I don't know why Disney chose to work with Triotech of all companies when they could've done a better job making the ride in house.
LOL you’re so right, that’s the one at six flags right
My guess is that when they did Rise of the resistance, and tried piecing together several ride system elements by themselves and failed miserably (they put elements of the system in upside down and then encased them in concrete), they decided to use an off the shelf ride system that was much easier and more reliable. But that's just my guess.

Here are my thoughts on what this should have been:
A ride where you shoot webs with Spider-Man is honestly a good concept, but there are better ways to do it than hand controls.

They should also use augmented reality goggles so you can shoot digital webs onto physical sets.
I knew it was a Triotech! The masters of underwhelming shooting dark rides.
Creators of the world's bulkiest ride vehicles.
What's your source about it being Triotech?
The maestro tracking, the seat backs, the screens, the vehicle chassis and the bus bar. The whole thing screams Trio Tech.
Didn't Disney used to have "Imagineers" that came up with ideas for rides on their own? Are they just outsourcing now?
@@AmusementLabs This is definitely not the same tech as Ninjago tho. In that one you have to hover your hand over the lap bar and its sensor, whereas in Spider-Man you seem to have more freedom.

The land appears to be extremely underwhelming. I think the idea (on paper) seemed great but doesn't make me want to pack up and head to California to experience this land for just 1 ride (that isnt unique or new), a shop, and an eatery. Plus, not to mention this land is very small and not as grand/elaborate as Galaxy's Edge.

@@TwatMcGee marvel won’t lose popularity. That’s the funny part of this message
@@adamthesportsfan2346 I did type should, I dont think itll lose popularity any time soon, but it seems to me like disney is hedging their bets
I enjoyed this ride but afterward said I wouldn't wait longer than 25 mins for it in the future...glad I got to ride it though!
You need to make one for 20,000 leagues under the sea/finding nemo. That ride haunts me every single day
It's just a Track in water but everything is shown in a building above the water on screens.
Why is that guy snapping his fingers when his hand should be like 🤟🏼 lol
I’m a little confused why it seems a lot of people don’t understand that this was never meant to be an E ticket attraction?
Like if avengers campus was Cars Land this ride would be Mater’s or if it was Toy Story Land this would be its Alien Swirling Saucers. And I’d much rather have this ride than either of those:)
Avenger’s Campu already has an amazing E ticket ride in Guardians and is supposed to have another one on the way in the future, in the mean time this ride is meant for people of all ages, and to be able to get a lot of people through the line fast.
People weren’t expecting this to be an E-ticket. People were expecting it to be good.
I think mission breakout is the e ticket which is why the land gets a lot of hate bc they bacisly stole it from Hollywood land .
Imagine making a dark ride pay to win
That flying Spider-Man that was launched over the building looks like one of those robo stuntman things.
Universal have definitely stepped up their game. After the Harry potter land, attendence increased exponentially and they decided to focus on quality.
The velocicoaster comparison isn't fair because the selling point of velocicoaster is the thrills and thrills aren't really Disney's thing

After going on it, its pretty good for what it is. If you're going in with no understanding of Avengers Campus or how California Adventure is laid out I can see why it's disappointing.

@@AmusementLabs Same here.

Disney: "can I copy your homework?"
Legoland: "sure but change it up a bit so it's not obvious."
Disney: Ninjago Web Slingers
The thing I don’t like about this ride is the lack of physical interactive sets... which are stuff that would make it truly Disney
This just feels like they added a game to the Universal ride
and took away all the effects, props and action of the Universal version.
@@AmusementLabs exactly, I feel like we could design a better version with the same concept
Midway Mania with poorly implemented motion controls
@@coasters4life388 better dead than red. BTW AMUSEMENT LABS THIS IS A JOKE DONT BLOCK ME
Midway mania wii edition
Your one of the most successful coaster youtubers!! I was just wondering how old are you?
I'll still never forgive them for what they did to TOT.
Do you know if there is a wheelchair accessible vehicle?
There is. They're required to have one. It's just before unload.
You know it. Like Disney had been doing projection mapping a lot and so much that was in Rise and this is how they follow it up.
It’s amazing how disappointing Disney has gotten these past few years. People seem to refuse to admit that this company isn’t great anymore.
@@MegaSoulHero I don’t necessarily think that, after all we got both RotR and Runaway railway within 3 months if each other, I think it’s more that Disney has starting making it really obvious when they are actually putting effort into a ride, versus when they’re just trying to cash a check…
I'm glad that everyone hates the ride lol, that just leaves more room for me to enjoy it
Have a blast.
@@WhirlOmar I will
Love this ride
Every Spider-Man ride in existence uses 3D screens and two of them have shooting gallery mechanics from budget companies.
Spider man at universal is GOATed
You should do the Haunted Mansion. I don’t know if you already did it or not because there was one part that still questions me today the window with the ghosts in them.
Amazing content!
There may not have been any significant tire marks cause it was still brand new when that footage was captured.
Ellothere, keep up the good work. Subrcibed after seeing the sheer amount of hard work going into each video
Wish they'd used practical effects. The Avengers E-ticket had better look good. Seems like the money is going towards that.
Hey I would really like to learn how verbolten works.
Great video! again
Legoland: *Hey, I've seen this one!*
Disney: What do you mean, you've seen this? It's brand new
My favorite thing about this ride is the fact they added Ned and Peter's Lego Death Star in the pre-show area at the top left corner. Such a good Easter egg
Ha! I didn't notice that. Sounds like there's a rebel imagineer on the inside. 😅
Universal Creative did a "ridable videogame" much better with Mario Kart in USJ.
that man snapping though
I have no arms so I was pissed when I got on this
Love these videos! Can you do the Spider-Man ride and Men in Black at Universal Florida?
I feel like instead of a shooting game ride they should had just made a regular dark ride. Not a marvel fan but it's whatever I wish disneyland brought batman now that's a hero.
Who’s Peter Parker?
I just went 3 days ago and we didn’t do nearly all of those stops. Kinda sad
I hope they do something for Chadwick Bosemen.
I don't understand how Disney made a Spider-Man ride that doesn't have any thrilling web swinging through the city. Wasted opportunity.
Honestly I would just like an attraction wear your run on the speed mats that they used in the chase scene in Civil War through the tunnel that would be fun
Quick Explainer: CGI animation and screens
Of all the things they could do.... This is what they chose. Spider bot infestation.
"Buy them in the gift shop!"
It's a borderline ad.
Would love a video on Space 220
Not what I envisioned for a new Disney Spider-Man ride. Looks like just a rehash of Midway Mania. But NICE JOB on your videos though.
@@AmusementLabs yeah that would have been nice but Bob cheapek cut the budget
