- The Belly of the Dragon: A Unique Utah Adventure
The Belly of the Dragon is a short but intriguing hike located near Kanab, Utah. It's a man-made tunnel that was originally created as a water culvert under Highway 89. Over time, the water flow has carved the sandstone walls into a fascinating, dragon-like shape, hence the name.
What to Expect:
Easy hike: Suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Unique tunnel experience: Walk through a cool, dark tunnel with interesting rock formations.
Short distance: The main attraction is the tunnel itself, but you can continue hiking along the wash for a longer adventure.
Bring a flashlight: While there is light at both ends of the tunnel, a flashlight can enhance your experience.
Tips:
Wear sturdy shoes: The tunnel can be slippery in some areas.
Check weather conditions: Avoid hiking during or immediately after rain as the tunnel can flood.
Be mindful of wildlife: While not common, it's always a good idea to be aware of your surroundings.
Bring lots of water during summer months.
Overall, the Belly of the Dragon is a fun and unique experience that's perfect for a short adventure or a break from exploring nearby national parks like Zion or Bryce Canyon.
Looks hot out there
Great, and easy hike! The crowds can be a bit much.
I was the oldest of 3 brothers (no sisters) and have two sons (now adults) and always like to ask fellow parents that have both genders of kids (I'm now a great grandfather 👴) if boys or girls are more work.🤔😁
Well they’re both a lot of work! Lol. My daughter is more of the sensitive one. Obviously, being a dad I can relate to my son better.
This looks and feels really enchanting man! Great video
Thanks for watching! It’s always a good time taking the kids on adventures!! Next week we will putting up the video for Moqui Caves!
