Denis Villeneuve is literally the saviour of the sci fi genre in cinema. Arrival, Blade Runner, Dune. As a sci fi lover i'm so glad an amazing director like him has such a passion for this genre!
"There is nothing more dangerous than a charismatic leader" - Frank Herbert. The fanaticism in Stilgar's eyes as he raises his crysknife and professes his belief...Denis clearly understands what Dune is all about. Cannot wait for this movie, and then Messiah after it.
I just watched DUNE 2. I have only one thing to say as a childhood fan. DUNE 2 WAS F’N EPIC!!! I was trying to not cry during the movie. I love the twists in the story, they really know when to do it! I’m so proud of Denis Villeneuve and his work! What a masterpiece!
This series being my first experience with dune as an adult I cannot stress how great this trilogy will be for the sci-fi genre it might be the best honestly.
The whole underlying point of Paul's story is the idea that one should beware the dangers of charismatic leaders. Even Paul recognizes this and wrestles with it. I love that this adaptation seems to be embracing this, unlike the Lynch film that fundamentally undermined the entire point of the novel by making him a hero and literal messiah.
@lannes2068 yeaaah me too. I love 3rd book, and love how things turned in this story! There gonna be real GoT in space. I'm even pretty sure that original GoT got smth from this book👀
I'm not even a Dune fan and this trailer made me tear up... this is what sci-fi is supposed to be with our current technology. This should be the new standard like how Dark Knight was for Superhero movies.
A new standard that won't be met...b/c after Dark knight, Hollywood went back to making crappy superhero movies...future SciFi films will never live up to 'Dune'
The reunion with Gurney is such a sweet moment in the book. His shock and awe at the man Paul has become is awesome. Can’t wait to see it on the screen
When Paul yells “Long live the fighters!”, totally got goosebumps! LOOKS INCREDIBLY PHENOMENAL! Better than the first trailer and that’s why this is my most anticipated movie of this year.
I have no idea what this movie is about (haven't seen the first one or read the books) but the MC really drew in me with that line. I got goosebumps too. And now I'll have to make sense of previous events so I can watch this one and only be a little confused through out
It’s now finally occurred to me how absolutely massive this movie is actually going to be. When Denis and the entirety of the cast kept on saying again and again that Part 1 was really just a setup film, apparently they weren’t kidding in the slightest. Long live the fighters indeed!
@@donotletthebeeswin my brother, you do understand that the first movie is literally just the exposition part of the 1st book( like it covers about 40%ish of it), the rising action and climax part of the book are gonna be in this movie?

@@simonofthesnowfield As they should. Dune Messiah is way shorter than the first Dune book. In fact, it’s the shortest one out of rhe original six Dune books. One movie is enough for this one
First trailer in a long time that actually had me tearing up in excitement. Dune has been a great part of my college days 19 years ago. I couldn't ask for any director other than Denis. He's truly magnificent.
right? it's visceral cinema! So gleeful for this in a way I haven't felt about a movie in a very long time. Villeneuve is absolutely NAILING it in creating this universe. Can't wait.
@@NaturalPrimexIt’s a good comment but I don’t think underrated describes it well. It has 100+ likes, so I’d say it’s rated and appreciated accordingly.
Watched it today, and man I am not even hesitant to call it one of the best sci-fi adaptation of all time. The story progresses so organically, nothing felt rushed, the lore and the world comes naturally and keep building up and up. You know a film is good when you get a jaw drop and that too in a scene where Paul is just speaking passionately among Fremens in the latter half of the film, so powerful.
I can't get over how amazing this looks. This is cinema at its finest, and a proper adaptation of a classic book. Everyone is giving it their all in here.
Should have been “long live the martyrs” like in the book, the scene in the book is stripped right out of a speech from Algerian independence fighters back in the 50s too.
This trailer alone gave me the chills like 3 times. calculating events and moments. It's safe to say that this finishes the first book. This movie is gonna be huge
Yeah this movie is just gonna be the second half of the first book. The third movie(? I think they’re making one) would just be the second book. The third book and on kinda take everything in a different direction that’s much more difficult to adapt and aren’t as related to the first two books
"A longstanding dream of mine is to adapt Dune, but it’s a long process to get the rights, and I don’t think I will succeed" -Denis Villeneuve, September 2016 during the "Arrival" promotion And now he's fulfilling his dream in getting a chance to adapt his beloved sci fi story, i'm so proud of him 👍
@@digitalwayfarer7404 Agreed. He and I are almost the same age. We first read Dune at about the same time, and fell in love with it. DV, like me, was influenced by a lot of the SF art that was out in the 1970s, and it shows in his work. I was enraptured by the first movie, and I hope he does as well with the second.
I'm really pleased that although this is totally Denis' work in every way, there are nods to the previous 80's version in the props and the costumes. This is genius because he probably knew it would have to be a 2 part (or more) film adaptation and he couldn't count on having all the people who are coming to see it to have read the book(s). Also this bridge is making it easier to keep interest going due to the delay in releasing Part 2. This is going to be an amazing film, might be as good a film for this second installment as was The Empire Strikes Back was for Star Wars (A New Hope.) It might be better than Part 1. It just might.
Yeah without spoiling anything, it just goes to show how even the most questioning and skeptical people start to belive in a leading figure, and lose their abilities to view them as anything else but that- a leading perfect figure
Sort of spoilers for the rest of the books: . . . I don't know how much it will be spelled out in Part 2 but in the books the Bene Gesserit explicitly set these prophecies and mini-religions in motion by seeding a particular idea ('the chosen one' etc) and then.....well.....making that person. Not so much 'having faith' as 'Yes. We plan over a _very_ long scale' 😏

Just finished watching Dune2. I’m still recovering from this epic, cinematic masterpiece…I might just add that this could be the greatest film of our times.
he is a super talented actor with a wide range, it is really cool seeing him exercise that here. but yeah out of all the movies ive seen with him ive never heard that voice and never figured he’d be able to make it lol
My dad cried at the end of Dune part 1 because he never thought he see something close to any kind of realisation of these dense books, was a real moment. Can't wait to take him to see this he says the next half is even better. Shout out Denis Villeneuve, single handedly bringing back block buster scifi that isn't Marvel or DC and also making gritty or inspiring masterpieces like Sicario or Arrival. Truly a master!
Cinema is an art form like any other, it has the power to move us. It simply requires a master craftsperson with fine brush strokes and passion to create something unique using all the materials at their disposal. Luckily they are still a few such people still working in the film industry.
@@markg.7865Well he is one of the visionary directors. Nolan, Fincher, Eastwood, Speilberg are still alive and all of them demolish him by quite margin.

@@timothydavidcurp It's BECAUSE the writers get it. Spectacle without coherent plot and writing is just the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy, or Wheel of Time show, or Witcher show.
I have lived the greatest cinematic events. The madness that was Star Wars in the late 70s as a teenager. The phenomenon that was The Lord of the Rings at the beginning of the century... Nothing comes close to what I felt when leaving the cinema after watching Dune part 2. Absolutely nothing. The most powerful, emotional, epic, beautiful, captivating and wonderful thing I have ever seen. I'm on my way to the 3rd viewing. This time alone in what I have made sure is an empty cinema late at night.
Dune is honestly the reason why I write my own stories. It was a life changing experience to have read it at the age of fifteen. I am now forty-nine years old and even if I NEVER get my works published, I can still create my own "realities". Thank you Frank Herbert for the gift that you have bestowed on my life and thank you Denis for masterfully bringing my childhood imagination to life!
That's what I love about writing as well. I get to create the world as it should be inside the world as it is. I don't have much time to write these days or read except for reading for the Series 7 securities exam. I'll be able to read Dune well before November though.
I like the way that Villeneuve emphasized "water/moisture" on Caladan, Salusa Secundus and Giedi Prime in part 1, he now emphasizes "vegetation" on Kaitain, all in order to highlight the difference with Arrakis. Denis is really passionate about Dune lore
I'm really happy to see not just how faithful it is shaping up to be in comparison to the book, but alos how Denis is bringing to life key little moments, like the way Feyd tries to shove the knife into paul and the way he stands sideways in combat because of how accustomed Feyd is to fighting with a shield... these are little things that to any other director would've been trivial, but Denis cares.
I absolutely love the choice to film Feyd's fight scene in black and white. In the novel, the white blade was poisoned and the black blade was not so that the fighters could tell the difference. Denis' choice to film the whole scene in black and white is a stroke of genius, and just shows me how much thought he's put into visualizing every aspect of this story. Please for the love of God go see this in IMAX opening weekend. This is going to be a movie that deserves your money.
Not only will I see D2 in IMAX, I hope the film studio is smart enough to do a limited re-release of D1 in IMAX so those like me who didn't get to see it in that format get a second chance. How about this: Make it a quasi-day IMAX event where movie goers can purchase a combo-pass for D1 and D2... 😎
@@fakecubedThe black and white is part of the world building, not just a stylistic choice, it’s what the sun is like on Geidi Prime , like a black light washing out all the colours. This is an awesome choice as it explains why the Harkonnnens dress in all black- on their planet colours are pointless in daylight. This is much better than “bad guy wear black cause black bad” we usually see in movies like this.
What Denis Villeneuve is doing right now is nothing short of saving movies. From story to shots to sound and at this scope and scale, no one is doing what Denis is doing right now. Please protect this man!
I'm not sure if we gonna get a third one. Them dropping the new trailer so early means that they are kinda scared to loose the casual audience. It's gonna do well in europe but the domestic box office could be problematic.
But it's legit difficult to make a bad trailer for a big budget sci-fi/superhero movie. Cut in some cool shots, cool lines, cool music. that's it. Infinity war, Endgame, Force Awakens, Joker, Batman, Man of Steel, etc. Even some video games trailers are great. Mass effect 3, Witcher 3, Battlefield 1... Tons of great ones if you think about it. Prisoner of the moment.
@@laimejannister5627i disagree mate. Theres just something about this trailer which ive honestly never really seen before in others. Yes its got the amazing shots, goosebumps giving lines and brilliant music but as someone whos never read dune or has any idea on what comes next in the duniverse story it just gives me soo much mystery, excitement and more than anything realism into a world being thrown against the power of capitalism and slavery. 10/10 for me tbh
@@edwardrawnsley2666 well it’s my job to critique. But with a source material like this if the trailer couldn’t achieve at least what you’ve described it’d be utterly embarrassing for the team that made this and I’d stay away from them in the business forever. I suppose if I spare some interns to do it they could get at least 9/10 anyway. Or maybe soon enough an AI can do it. Plus, the very fact that you gave this 10/10 (ie. literally perfect, no room for improvement) is evidence that you were indeed a prisoner of the moment.

@@edwardrawnsley2666 can't tell the difference between being critical and being pessimistic, can we? Being critical means there is room to improve and therefore it's the very opposite of being pessimistic. Being used to being held against a low bar, and discouraged by every tiny piece of "critique" that goes slightly against you. I feel like we don't talk enough about how perfect is Timothée as Paul. The emotions he is able to convey without uttering a single word! Part One proved he understands the character perfectly, now he's taking it on a whole another level. Absolutely stellar. A legend in the making.
People seemed to like to bag on his performance being "wooden" and sorta dead in the first film. I am like, "That just shows how good he was at portraying the character. He was still asleep, you didn't see him start to awaken till the end of the film, where you see him start to be who he is meant to be."
@@thegrandmuftiofwakanda i'll take 3h30 of this universe at any given time. I really dont care about the selfish book readers expecting a show to be a book 🙅
I absolutely love how they handle the technology and outfits. When part 1 came out, I was so used to Marvel movies where everyone always just pulls a device out of nowhere that can do anything and the costume designs seem to just be based on what looks "cool" so it was SO refreshing to see a sci-fi movie take the time to establish how the tech and costumes work and what their specific functions and limitations are. Makes the setting seem more grounded and lets me immerse myself in the setting a lot more. Can't wait to see more of that in part 2!
It helped that Frank Herbert was so specific in his descriptions of how all the technology worked, even if the explanation was simply "it's a Holtzman field".
@@fakecubedThat's something I love about the whole Dune saga. Frank really set up a functioning universe that feels real. And he didn't overexplain everything. Which gives space for the audience to imagine what wasn't expanded in the books.
Yess my favorite type of story is where things just make sense, even if they can't exist in the real world (yet). I'm so happy there are more people who get it. It allows for much deeper immersion than when it's explained with something like magic or impossible technology beyond comprehension. Dune is pure genius
I think the costumes within the movie are great but according to the book some of the movie to me is slightly inaccurate. Being in the desert of arrakis as a fremen it is know to have a stillsuit covering the body and face at all times but it seems that at times this doesn’t hold through, where fremen are shown to be in the desert but without stillsuit covering the majority of their face like the book

Austin Butler is unrecognizable, Christopher Walken looks terrifying And everybody else looks incredible. Can't remember the last time i seen a whole cast lose themselves to their roles like this in a movie.
@@kplooki I hate that they decided to make Austin bald in this! He's a good looking guy and is way better looking and more experienced in acting than Timothee(not sorry!). Christopher Walken as the Emperor was one of the reasons why I wanna check this movie out. Plus I remember him as the headless horseman in Sleepy Hollow.
I have so many praises for Dune (2021), and Dune part II looks even better. This cast is stellar, but Timothée Chalamet continues to impress me. The change in his eyes, demeanor, and even the power of his voice even on this trailer alone just portrays the difference from Paul now that he has all the power to the somewhat innocent, naive, green Paul Atreides who was thrown into this journey with no prepare from the first movie. He's doing an excellent job and I think more people should acknowledge that.
Yes sure , he fits the role of the prophet so well. You can see the change by the end of the first movie but when you compare his take on the character with the book , there’s enough differences between the movie version of *naive Paul. I hope he’s good here, trailer seems promising.
He's always been an excellent actor, ever since his breakout role in 2017, but there's a danger he could be taken for granted now. I bet the Academy will continue to overlook him here, and only give nominations to supporting actors like Austin Butler. However, even they may find his comedic Wonka performance in December impossible to ignore.
@AbcDef-ww2gy You may not agree with me on this, but I feel like as Timothée has become kind of a "pop star", the academy won't take him seriously, for some reason. I think that's the reason why (the hype is too much, and it's a bad thing, in this case). He's given amazing performance throughout the years but the academy just ignores him. I don't know if you've watched Bones & All (the most recent film timothée chalamet did), and some of the reviews were only praising Taylor Russell and Mark Rylance, and one of the reviews I read even said something along the lines of "Timothée did well, of course, that's a GIVEN.." and proceeded to highlights other actor's performances in the film. I get the feeling that's just how it's gonna be, and it's not different within the Dune fandom imo. Timothée won't get praises for his performances, but he's doing amazing.
@@flck-ns1vr I do agree, and the name for it is the "Slap-the-Stud" syndrome. Leo DiCaprio suffered from it for decades, before finally winning an Oscar in middle age. His biggest snub was when Titanic swept the board with 14 Oscar nods and 11 wins, but they somehow forgot to nominate the lead actor, as if he had nothing to do with the film's success! The fact is the Academy is still two-thirds male, and they are naturally jealous of handsome younger men. Actresses under 30 frequently win Oscars, but men under 30 never win Lead Actor! (Well, once: Adrien Brody who was just a month under 30, and played a Holocaust victim.) Maybe if Timothée didn't always have girls screaming at him, they would take him more seriously...
The shot of Gurney walking with whom im assuming are the last surviving fighters of House Atreides in full armor and swords drawn gave me so much chills. I cant wait to see this film.
“There is nothing more dangerous than a charismatic leader.” -Frank Herbert I can feel the darker turn around the corner and I love the feel this trailer gives. I am excited! I know I’ve only read the first three Dune books, but is it foolish to hope the six OG books all get adapted?
Well, consider the fact the duel between Paul and Feyd is teased near the end of the other trailer. I'm guessing this sequel will wrap up the first Dune book and I don't see them ending things there.
@@DngrDan Yes, I did notice and them not being done is my hope. Villeneuve stated he would adapt Dune Messiah if Dune: Part Two is successful. I just hope that they continue to be successful and that he pushes through to adapt the six OG books.
i think that they should adapt till god empereor , because after that the saga lets say that "resets" ,with different characters . so they should end the fourth book and then adap heores and legends of dune ( dune: house atreides, corrino , harkonen, butlerian yihad, battle of corrin etc)
Can we just acknowledge how damn insane Timothee Chalamet’s performance is in this adaptation so far?! He really looks to be nailing the dark turn Paul will be undergoing in Part 2. The primal intensity in the eyes at 2:42 is chilling. That Paul right there is ready for war. Primed to kill every enemy. I can’t wait!
He's a really good actor. Saw him in a Netflix medieval film and he was really belivable in that. He has a good reputation as well with other actors I think.
I love him the first trailer where Paul is about to fight feyd ratha (sorry spelling) and says "may your knife chip and shatter" exactly hoe I imagined it in the books! So detached and just his voice omg. I am so excited I could pee my pants
@@pacotaco1246Dune has character development which disqualifies it as woke. If it was woke, Chani would find out she was the most powerful being all along and would have taken over the galaxy in Part 1.
Love the way the music climbed with Stilgar's speech on his beliefs, then you see his maddening expression of hope. And the sandworm erupts behind Paul, as if to say that his rise is becoming so much more. That look in Stilgar’s eyes as he raised his crysknife was a glimpse of how the Fremen would become the fanatical religious legion and birth the JIhad.

I think part of it is that for Part 1 they needed to establish a visual baseline, which takes a _ton_ of work, and now that they can build off of that they have room to fill in the blanks in a huge way. It's much less "sterile" this time.
I think it’s just that there’s a lot more action and general epic-ness in the second part of Dune, which makes for a more visually appealing film compared to the first part ie huge battle scenes, giant worms, nuclear explosions, swarms of ornithopters, knife duels to the death…
Christopher Walken as Emperor Corrino is going to be incredible and I can’t wait to see it. Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan looks awesome too. We can barely see his expression,'because the camera is showing his full body. It's just an astonishment face,no big thing. It's the music that deceives you
If you've ever seen the video of Saddam Hussein's 1979 purge and how fanatical and worshipful/desperate, hyped up the people in the room were as they tried to prove their loyalty, that is exactly what that dude looks like. Very good acting.
This is made greater because one of the most poignant little moments in the book is when Paul sadly realises that Stilgar has turned from a friend to a fanatic follower.
@annavirag546 How, we saw a 3 second glimpse with more voice and emotion. Not denying Kyle MacLachlan's performance, but its undeniable acting back then vs acting now as dramatically increased in emotion. Plus he screams it English, which is no were near as cool as freman language.

Beyond the fact that I just adore this story and how it's being adapted so far; In general I just love that we are getting a completely sincere Science Fiction Epic that fully embraces it's dramatic side. But it's just refreshing to see a big budget film like this in this tone. Reminds me of the original LoTR films and how they gave a world that the general audience could easily have found silly a feeling of earnest gravitas that took itself completely seriously even in it's lighter moments.
YES!! You are articulating what I've been feeling. This type of film is so rare these days and this one... it's just incredible. I'm so thankful it's being made and hope this brings back the true Epics. I love my Knucklehead crews too, but I'm ready for serious sci fi drama again.

I swear, Villeneuve has done such a great job. The more I see him in interviews talk about how he's going to honour Herbert's vision and his childhood love for the story, the more I trust him. You don't get directors like him too much, most just want to impose their own vision, tell their stories and replace the old story and deconstruct it.

"Look who's back from the dead", anyone who's read the books knows Gurney and Rabban have history... I'm really looking forward for their confrontation!
An epic showdown between Gurney and Rabban would be a welcomed change from the book, as storytelling-wise I was always a bit disappointed that Gurney never got his revenge, and Rabban just anticlimactically died offscreen during the final battle.
There’s a cool interview with Denis where he mentions having to dampen Timothy’s acting in the first movie, saying, “no no you’re not Muad’Dib yet” and this scene definitely shows Muad’Dib
@@davidhartleycombs2465 Not Muad'Dib.. *FULL POWER* Muad'Dib. Like I didn't think Timothee wasn't that bad in part one but his acting really shined in the tent scene.
you know its funny, Timothy and Zendaya's sandwalking together is more romantic and charming than ANYTHING coming from Disneys Star Wars writers. While Star Wars has clearly fallen off, at least we have these Dune movies ABSOLUTELY DESTROYING IT. DESERT POWER!!!!!!!!!
Absolute chills. This is the type of cinema people are dying for. Real drama, real heroes and villains. Classic archetypes. I really hope people turn out to watch this movie.
I don't know how many times i watched both the trailers. Giving goosebumps on each time. Really want to experience Hans Zimmer + Denis Villeneuve magic on theatre 🔥
Agreed, but then to have Hans Zimmer doing the score and sound design which he won’t the academy award for in the first installment just makes the total package all the more incredible and exciting. Trailer gave me goosebumps via visuals and the sound.
I love where this is going. Power and revenge. Paul is living in a very harsh environment and having his whole house destroyed in front of him has hardened him and given him a taste for getting back what was taken from him. I’m very stoked to see part II. Looks like it will be amazing!
By the end of the trailer (which almost seems to give away the story), it sounds like Paul is using The Voice every damn time he speaks lol. It seems like Paul is getting more and more hopped up on spice and power and this fanaticism and it's brilliant. In the new trailer you see he's powerful enough to silence the head Bene Gesserit herself so the dude is a hyper-charged 'unit' by the end of Part 2. And think about where we left Paul and all of them at the end of Part 1... THAT is how much story is being packed into Part 2! Chani didn't even know/trust Paul at that point, the Fremen only passively allowed him among them... she turns into a lover and then later concerned for him; the Fremen not only come to accept him but basically worship him. As good as Part 1 was, it wasn't even the tip of the iceberg compared to what's coming!
Brings tears to my eyes, every time Stilgar says "I don't care what you believe! I BELIEVE!". Brings all the emotions of what I felt when I read Dune the first time many years ago. This movie is going to be brilliant.

The whole underlying point of Paul's story is the idea that one should beware the dangers of charismatic leaders. Even Paul recognizes this and wrestles with it.

Especially when his voice is deeper for "Long live the fighters", it gives a feeling of maturity
True!
In the books they are a combination of Atreides' best and brightest and the Arrakeen smugglers.

I can feel the darker turn around the corner and I love the feel this trailer gives. I am excited! I know I’ve only read the first three Dune books, but is it foolish to hope the six OG books all get adapted?
If they do the third book, they wouldn't lose the opportunity to do God emperor of dune and bring Jason Momoa back
Well, consider the fact the duel between Paul and Feyd is teased near the end of the other trailer. I'm guessing this sequel will wrap up the first Dune book and I don't see them ending things there.
@@DngrDan
Yes, I did notice and them not being done is my hope.

Yeah, that rally caught me by surprise.
he's so damn good, honestly. Perfectly cast.
I thought the same. The tone of his voice is chilling
What an absolute masterpiece of a movie sincerely

Love the way the music climbed with Stilgar's speech on his beliefs, then you see his maddening expression of hope. And the sandworm erupts behind Paul, as if to say that his rise is becoming so much more. That look in Stilgar’s eyes as he raised his crysknife was a glimpse of how the Fremen would become the fanatical religious legion and birth the JIhad.

the score for this trailer is *chef's kiss*
I don't know what they did differently when shooting this one, but the visuals look incredible. Really excited about this.
Different ratio and fully shot in imax
I think part of it is that for Part 1 they needed to establish a visual baseline, which takes a _ton_ of work, and now that they can build off of that they have room to fill in the blanks in a huge way. It's much less "sterile" this time.
Bigger budget.
Panoramic shooting is most likely...So that we feel ourselves inside in the thick of events and in the location
I think it’s just that there’s a lot more action and general epic-ness in the second part of Dune, which makes for a more visually appealing film compared to the first part ie huge battle scenes, giant worms, nuclear explosions, swarms of ornithopters, knife duels to the death…
If trailers won Oscars for audio/visual effects, this one would deserve one. That shot with the explosion at the end is so beautiful and sounds 👌
Its a 3 minute trailer so if the movie is 2 hours long then you just watch about 3% of the movie already :)
Christopher Walken as Emperor Corrino is going to be incredible and I can’t wait to see it. Florence Pugh as Princess Irulan looks awesome too. I think I’m excited to see the new characters just as much as I am to see Timothee and Zendaya develop their characters more. I loved the books, I’ve read Dune multiple times, and I am beyond excited to see how this turns out.

@@marcosrecio4062 No she looks great, Pugh has quite a wide range of acting and from what I can see in the trailers she looks astonishingly up to the task.

Guerney Halleck is the real MVP…Survived 2 years in the desert with a handful of men with no desert training.

The reunion with Gurney is such a sweet moment in the book. His shock and awe at the man Paul has become is awesome. Can’t wait to see it on the screen yes!
The look of pure religious zeal and fervor in Stilgar's face at 2:29 is so incredibly well done my jaw dropped. It's in the trailer for less than half a second but I don't think I've ever seen an actor portray such an intense and complicated emotion w just their face in half a second. Javier Bardem is otherworldly, pun intended
“Paul saw how Stilgar had been transformed from the Fremen naib to a creature of the Lisan al-Gaib, a receptacle for awe and obedience. It was a lessening of the man, and Paul felt the ghost-wind of the jihad in it.
I have seen a friend become a worshiper, he thought."
Then you watch few films…if you have not seen how a director can catch an actor doing his / her work brilliantly

When he screamed “Long live the fighters!”, it gave me goosebumps!! What a performance!
@annavirag546 he says under a sea, a santa
@annavirag546 How, we saw a 3 second glimpse with more voice and emotion. Not denying Kyle MacLachlan's performance, but its undeniable acting back then vs acting now as dramatically increased in emotion. Plus he screams it English, which is no were near as cool as freman language.
@annavirag546 yeah non of that was intelligent argument, All of that was personal opinions. My personal opinion Kyle Maclachlan sounds like a half baked frat boy trying to rile his frat brothers to a different party.

Can't believe the star-studded cast involved with this epic film, definitely one fo the best movies of the decade!
Beyond the fact that I just adore this story and how it's being adapted so far; In general I just love that we are getting a completely sincere Science Fiction Epic that fully embraces it's dramatic side. Unlike seemingly many people I actually don't mind the quippy scifi romps with comedy baked in. I'll watch the well told misadventures of a found family of knuckleheads any day. But it's just refreshing to see a big budget film like this in this tone. Reminds me of the original LoTR films and how they gave a world that the general audience could easily have found silly a feeling of earnest gravitas that took itself completely seriously even in it's lighter moments.
Yes absolutely.
YES!! You are articulating what I've been feeling. This type of film is so rare these days and this one... it's just incredible. I'm so thankful it's being made and hope this brings back the true Epics. I love my Knucklehead crews too, but I'm ready for serious sci fi drama again.
Yes! Rian Johnson did a good job with Star Wars, but it doesn't have Dune's artistry, vision and emotional gravitas.
A feeling that is beyond haunting, chills & flabbergasted. Denis Villeneuve is yet again back to raise his throne to cinematic supremacy.

The more I see him in interviews talk about how he's going to honour Herbert's vision and his childhood love for the story, the more I trust him. You don't get directors like him too much, most just want to impose their own vision, tell their stories and replace the old story and deconstruct it.
