Welp...too late, lol. I've drilled seat tubes for internal droppers before and it looks so much cleaner. Plus, I found a new internal dropper for $50, so that's what I did.

Hello Aaron. Last time, I told you about the ST520 sale at WM on the XL size... But the L size was never on sale. This time, thanks to your video, I was finally able to get the ST520 and used your referral code to get at $136+tax. I am not looking for the 1x9 full suspension setup, I prefer the old school 3x8 hard tail style of the ST520. (And I have the red ST100 from the $98 WM sale that I will pass to my son)
Awesome! Glad that discount code worked and I hope the bike is in good shape when you get it. Mine had a few scuffs on the cranks and fprk lowers from what I assume a little bit of rough handling by UPS, but nothing too bad and certainly nothing that affects performance. When you get your 520, check the hubs because mine were adjusted very tight and same happened on this 530S. It required a good once-over like a lot of new out of the box bikes do. Rather do it myself and know it's done correctly. Thanks again for the heads up on that 520 because it really got me paying more attention to finding Decathlon bikes at good prices.
@@aaronbehindbars I think the 'Decathlon bikes at good price' is a one time thing: they tried to market their bikes in the US, but based on the lowered prices, I am not sure they will keep trying. It seems that they are shifting their focus to importing the camping and hiking gear...
Do you think the rear suspension is servicable? I have one of these, I took it apart but I can not find a way to open it so that I could open it up and add oil (it leaked it out completely and now it doesn't absorb anything just bouncing on the spring)
@@aaronbehindbars Wow what a waste of materials then, the shock was alright while it worked as intended for about a year and after it broke. Thank you for your reply
@@aaronbehindbars Hello, one more question, if I put a shorter or longer would it affect the frame too much? I mostly use my bike to do wheelies around town and stuff so not much actual mtb stuff, is it alright if i put let's say a 180mm instead of 190mm?
@@xBorisD It might be ok. When I upgraded mine to an air shock, I purchased what I thought was a 190mm shock, but the description was wrong and it was actually 200mm. That ended up working out ok. It raised the rear of the bike by a few mm, but not enough to make a difference. Lowering the rear end might be ok, but you'd need to be aware that your cranks are also lower to the ground. Possibly a bigger issue is if there is any interference between parts of the rear suspension/tire/frame when your shick is at full compression. That may not be an issue if you have a shock with a shorter stroke, but then you'll have reduced wheel travel. Ultimately, any changes you make probably would void any warranty and would not be recommended by the manufacturer. They did spend a lot of time engineering and testing the design of the bike. Hope that helps.
There is a dropper post that has a external cable, it is better than drilling a hole.

Hi, how do i set up the thing that says PRELOAD for the front suspension please?
@@gassousti91. There should be a preload knob on the top of left side fork leg. You turn it clockwise to increase preload (spring stiffness).

It is not serviceable. You'll need a new shock. I'd recommend an air shock. You need a 190x50 eyelet shock to fit this frame.
