Interesting video as always Steve 👍 an old saying you never have troubles to seek 🙄 and how true is that 😬 admire your patience with the John Deere I would have had to leave it for another day 🤣🤣
Hi steve very frustrating you have the patience of a Saint !! but you'll get it sorted. Love the sound of the two cylinder JD and they are at home in the fens. Do you know.much history on yours. Great video your going to be busy in the 25 looks like it 😜👍
Come to me with that carb and I will fix it for you. All the passages behind the bras drillbitplugs has to be clean out and there is also a secret passage in the bowlstud. I have the drillbits for cleaning the passages. Also the aftermarket condensers aren't good always. My AR ran and started as crap and I had an replaced with an old original one and runs like a top. Thanks Gerrit
@gerritsleutelaar6471 I've had bad experience with aftermarket condensers i had 5 on my Ford pop and eventually i nos now she's all good, so I've bought one for the sr2 and it's now running good, thanks for the offer though 👍
@@FenlandCrusader I did a lot of those DLTX carbs and they are not so difficult to do, but sometimes hard to get the drillbits out. I have the special long drills to clean all the passages out. Sometimes hard to get the floatneedle and seat leakfree with the replacements which are available. But glad to hear the BN is running good now. If you are around in Holland let me know and you are welcome.
Frustrating but You'll get there👍love the old fordsons in the beginning, reminds me off my late father taking about the one our old farm, e27n then converted to L4
@matthewwoodward-p1e yea you carnt beat the story's that dad's tell they stick in the memory for ever and you can see why they converted them to diesel complete transformation and made use for the old tractor for many more years. Thanks Matthew 👍
I also like your Fordsons, I have an Irish N, think a transition one and also had some problems starting it when it was cold, it was sitting overnight outside and it froze a little, the next morning it won't start even by towing it. I found out later that it sucked the inlet complete full with gas when removing the manifold. Don't know how that was possible. The day before it started and run like a top. Maybe the new sort of gas gives trouble
@gerritsleutelaar6471 yes I've heard a few horror stories about this , I'm using e5 97 so should be ok but there's a lot more going on with vaporizer plate surfaces and the tin pipe on the back of manifold and oil control rings being gumed up and possibly stuck and valve's that have not been ground in for the last 70-80 years so we're going strip them and give a good service inside 👍thanks
@@FenlandCrusader I machined the vaporizer plate and manifold also. And the gaskets and steel rings between block and manifold will rusted out. Keep up the good work and filming the proces!
Very frustrating! I was impressed when you had it running the drum at Freiston that it ran so beautifully and didn’t miss a beat. I’m sure it will turn out to be something simple and she will once again run like clockwork! Keep up the good work!
It almost looks like you've had someone drop some crap in the fuel tank, or had some contamination/crap in your fuel can?? I think we all felt your frustration trying to start the old girl!!
@chrishughes8011 well to be fair I've not looked in there for at least 10 years,i have a Jerry can for petrol used for nothing else for the last 20 years who knows thanks 👍
Is it loosing the spark once the mag warms up? My ex fenland model a was doing something very similar. Ended up getting a coil fr the states. Is it still on a wico mag?
@sandycowe3510 that remains to be seen on the next video but I have several rf4 mags that do that and I put a new coil in one and it didn't make much difference so I've come to the conclusion that they need remagnetising😉 it's just finding people locally who can do it without ripping you off 😉 thanks 👍
Could there be a gauze in the tank that’s blocked and not letting enough fuel through? I’ve got a manual for a John Deere A that give the correct settings for both the fuel jets, I’ll find it out and let you know what that says about the jets. My Farmall h had a similar issue a few years ago missing and backfiring and after checking the fuel and cleaning the carb thoroughly it was still doing it, so I turned my attention to the magneto and I removed it and found one of the drive lugs had sheared off so she was only driving on one lug and when running it was advancing and retarding it’s self. It may not be the same for the model be but maybe it’s worth a look just to rule it out?
@ahblue8873 yes, we're moving on to the mag now and going to start with the condencer, we've got a full flow to the carb, i have a book but can't put my hands on it at the moment, so would be interested in how many turns out they should be 👍thanks 👍
@@FenlandCrusader hi Steve, the carb settings for the model b are as follows: idle needle (nearest the choke lever) should be 1 to 1 1/4 turns open. The other needle ( the load needle) should be 3/4 to 1 turn open. Hope this helps
@JulianBellamy-s8f thanks julian it would've been nice to have had one on the day to swap over, when the condencer comes I'll try that and see where it goes, thanks for the offer I'll keep you in mind 👍
One nearly fixed .? 3 to go more fun and games in the workshop ! Great video again !
@johnd7288 thanks John well it wouldn't be much fun if there wasn't anything to do 🤔🤣

An excellent video, just a very frustrating outcome - hope to see the JD running soon!
@charleshart6992 thanks Charles here's hoping 👍

@stephenheyes4324 yes I'll try the new condencer next and and we'll go from there, thanks Steve

How frustrating. It will feel good when you finally sort it.
@@Casterton-Vintage thanks Brian, it's beginning to be as bad as a standard fordson hahaha I 👍
