Great Video!!! What was the reason you replaced the lower ball joint? I'm having a pop or click sound when going over bumps. I'm hoping it's just the ball joints and not the struts. However I have a feeling it's the struts. I'll be jacking up my CRV this weekend and look to see what's going on. Thanks for the video.
I just tried to do mine and of course it’s seized. I just had the same issue in my 00 Civic where it had basically had welded itself to the control arm. I cannot get mine to pop off the knuckle. I’m also doing this laying down but I smacked the hell out of it with a 4lbs hammer. I sprayed some kroil in it and I put it back together. Imma try again tomorrow.
OMG! Do you have to use brute force hammering like that? Look at the big dent you did from hammering. I see you have a full shop setup. There are common tools available to separate the ball joints.
You never mentioned if the left side was replaced. They wear at about the same rate. If the second joint wasn’t replaced it must have been profit was your motive rather than safety since it was for flipping the car.
@@hondaresource true about redundancy. I understand. But if only one side was replaced before flipping the crv that was reason for my comment. Thank you.
This is so much easier than the rest of the suspension. Great job!!!
Of course you tightened all the nuts and bolts to Honda TORQUE SPECS but decided to keep the specific torque values for each bolt secret, right?
Did you change tie rod and Axel same time
I didn't know it was that easy. I have a '97 CRV and your videos are super helpful. Thanks!
I wish the 97-01 were this simple.
@@hondaresourceyeah they’re a pain sometimes.

There is a ball joint separator, I have one. I prefer this method
Ikr. It's not rusted or anything. I would try to pry it out first before beating the crap out of that poor knuckle.
I have a 2007 CRV. What's the difference between a control arm bushing and a ball joint?
If you don’t know the difference. you shouldn’t be working on vehicles
@@Penguinsdontsleepatstaples Thanks Mr Helper....
Great video, did you torque the 3 fastners?
Is it recommended to replace Both Ball joints at the time of repairing , as a point of Preventative Maintenance ?
I would
Excellent video ! it is not necessary to use compress tools to put back a new ball joint, right ?
Nope not at all
What is the name of the part ? Is it Moog joint ball brand ?
Awesome ! Great straight and to the point
Thank you
Great video...thank You!
Glad you liked it!
Wonder why nylon lock nut? More dependable?
No idea, I've seen it on several aftermarket ball joints and tie rod ends.
Go with the Moog brand, still uses a castle nut and cotter pin. Great dependable and proven brand as well.
Awesome, thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching!
is wheel alignment needed after you replace it?
It's always "recommended" but me personally, I would say no
For sure after all that beating.
@@bkhoavo 🤣
Made that look easy awesome I'm going to do mine
I wish the RD1 1995 to 2001 CRV Lower Ball Joint Replacement was as easy as your RD3.., HAVE You done a RD1 Lower Ball Joint Replacement Video- Yet?

Great video
2011 crv does it have upper ball joints
No.
🔰, never knew they made ball joints that didn't need a cutter pin , interesting 🤔
I've seen some for other models of Hondas as well
Awesome!
Thanks!
What would be nice if the first generation CR-V ball joints were like that
Facts
W video as always
Appreciate it
Still banging and can’t get it off!

I just showed that one side for the video. Other side is the same process. No need to be redundant.

You should use a rubber hammer not steel
Why
Look at the damage he's done to the steel
Lol
