So definitely that's one of the reasons Shawn was eliminated from the show, as he was no where near Steve, wanted more money and they felt his interaction with Maxine was the weakest compared to Steve's interaction with Myra and Laura or Eddie's interaction with Greta.

It was the writers and producers who took time to catch up with what audiences wanted, not the other way around.
The rest for the cast were great for their roles but nobody is as iconic as Steve Urkel in the 90s. Such a gifted actor and the show had a great way of tackling real life issues with lessons that can be applied today!

I watched "Family Matters" a few times during its first season. It was all right, but it was only mildly funny. I remember the first time I saw an episode with Steve Urkel, and I thought to myself, "They need to bring that kid back!" I'm glad they did.
I find it funny that urkel appears halfway through season 1 and then after his FIRST episode he’s in the show for the rest of the first season as a guest star in basically every episode after that until season 2.
To be fair, Carl was dead tired from pulling a double shift and forgot to lock the door. He was already asleep when the two burglars, Ned and Langweaver, robbed him. They didn't need to use the sleeping gas tank at the time and only used in a near ending scene. They were finally foiled by Estelle, Harriette and Rachel who came home in time to stop them.

I've allways said to my older sister's while witching this programme with them why don't they just lock the door and keep it locked it as simple as that but but as usual they don't so instead of just keeping the door close why don't they just leave the door wide open for Steve then maybe he just mite change his mind because he may think it's a trap watering for him

She also wanted Steve and Laura together immediately in season 6. That reason is because of Kellie's real life relationship with Hannibal at the time. The producers refused because they wanted to build on their relationship, which was the point of them creating Myra and Stefan.
Instead in season 6, Steve decides to give up on chasing Laura and accepts her as a friend. 3 years later in the 4th episode of the final season Laura starts to have feelings for Steve

I looked it up and you're right! I thought he's older than her in real life like their characters, they did a good job hiring a younger tall guy to play the older brother who can easily pass as the oldest.😂

She also wanted Steve and Laura together immediately in season 6. That reason is because of Kellie's real life relationship with Hannibal at the time. The producers refused because they wanted to build on their relationship, which was the point of them creating Myra and Stefan.
