Ross taking it all the way to the end of the driveway is the best to do...and then it dies. Thats one out of my hand book. She sounds really pretty good.
😊😊 HI ROSS U still need 2 readjust the carb W your hand 🖐 😊 hold the throttle open then w other hand turn the main jet until it starts loosing power and then turn back and it should also run w out the choke 😮😮 thats usually a sign thats a carb jet or some thing else is still stopped up no good like that will also foul up sparkplugs like that a lost of power 😮😮 OMG 1O 2 2O24
Hey,it's ok to talk to yourself, sometimes that is the only one that makes sense and usually agree with self another step forward on that job, keep the good times rollin on the videos
That’s awesome there sir, you have it running and driving. I had only been able to get it to run for a couple minutes at a time, usually about 50’ lol. But you’re Ross The Oliver Man so I knew that you would get it going. Now I’m looking forward to seeing the ole girl in the field turning some dirt
Thanks! I’m gonna play with it a little bit first and then I’ll decide if the clutch needs replacing. It probably just needs used because it’s probably sat for a long time.
Good job. For a while, I thought the Zenith would have to get the Sledge-O-Matic treatment, but once again, you prevailed. 880 sounded pretty good once you got it started up.
Ross really sad all trouble with Zenith carburetor that love much you just take out field shoot it like Col Potter from Mash to jeep when frank run over jeep with tank.😅😅😅. You might have to buy a new Zenith carburetor make right. Great video keep up good work. Show your love for Zenith carburetor ❤😅😅😅. Good luck 🤞 thanks for laugh from hee haw
I’m thinking the clutch is probably getting pretty thin. In one video, I can’t remember if I left that part in, but I noticed how the clutch rod was adjusted all the way out.
😊😊 HI ROSS U found a tv show of grandpa jones on hee haw I didnt see that show grandpa is surely a barrel of great laughs because his voice is dragging when grandpa jones is singing 🎶 😮 the blues his way down in dumps 😮😮 OMG 1O 2 2O24
Studio audience is noisy today, between the Rooster and the Dove great background audio; until the compressor kicked in. Your expression of your thoughts as you proceed is good; helps understanding what is going on. Another "more" great video. :)
I really enjoyed this one Ross, you really been cranking out the video's too. Thanks for doing what you do to make that happen. Looking forward to the field work that must be coming right up too. Thanks again for bringing us along.
It does in fact make a difference. The only thing I have found to be the case is you need to already have your foot on the clutch before you pull it to the low side or it will still grind.
Very cool and exciting!! She sounds strong. But I’m not sure if I like that carburetor either. I’m really enjoying these longer videos. Keep up the great work 👍👍
I was wondering if there were some kind of thing you could order to replace that plug and put it in an actual needle to adjust. But I’m to the point that I’ll just replace the whole carburetor if it doesn’t work.
Entertaining as always Ross 👍 The flying carburetor was hilarious I've been there many times 😂😂 at least it landed in grass, I would a dropped it in the gravel and the string of 🤬 would a been a lot longer 🤣 😄
Amazed that you did not lose any of the bits considering the conditions you were working in ! But she sounds nice now she is running.....Back in the 50s my dad purchased an Oliver 60 ,it was an ex-lease-lend that came over to the UK during the war . It came with all the rowcrop gear fitted underneath .Dad put me on cultivating with it , I was 7 years old , nowadays he would be put in jail for that but I loved it !
I can't remember ever working on a Zenith, the only tractor I had with one was an 880. I still have the 880, it's all torn apart, and I have 2 Zenith carbs for it, the original that is pretty rusty, and an aluminum replacement that my cousin gave me that he got for a Super 88 from Maibach if I remember correctly. I'm sure that isn't the correct carb for that 880, it's waaaay to complicated to be a tractor carb!
I like keeping things original, so I kind of want to find the correct zenith that this is supposed to have but after all the fighting with this one I’m just about ready to find a Schebler to throw on it.
The more I see you 880 the more I want an 880... I would prefer a diesel, but I may just be willing to cave in for a gas. I just really am leary because I have heard complaints about the correct carb for the 880's. an 880 would just look so nice next to my 770. I need the pair. haha
That was kind of what made me really like this tractor in particular, is it was a perfect mate to my 770. It has the same options. The later style power steering is a bonus. I always thought that I would prefer to collect diesels as well but when you get so many tractors the gas ones are easier to keep running 🤣
@Ross the Oliver Man I finally made it out to the shed where my 770 is. I got excited and put the battery on the charger. We got another 4 inches of snow, and the ground is soggy again. It will be another week before I can get in there again at this rate! Oof.
I thought the same when I first fired it up. I think the timing is slightly off. I figured once that disaster carb was more better then I would start screwing up the ignition system.
Hey, at least the motor sounds good. You are now a Zenith magician. At least it did not do as the Space X Starship and do a rapid disassembly like they did today. Did the power booster work? I have always wondered if a single barrel throttle body injection could be put on one of the Olivers. I understand that Holley makes a Sniper unit that will work on a single-barrel TBI conversion. If one were to be installed in a 1850 there should be a noticeable improvement. A Pertronix ignition or even use a GM 4-pin ignition especially one that varies the dwell rate and advance would give an even much betterer ignition as one can increase the spark plug gap and get more spark to ignite the fuel charge. Oh well, I am just dreaming out loud. BTW, Juliet is running with the GM 4-pin module and a sensing coil made by using a #22 enamel-coated wire wound on a sewing machine bobbin. She who must be obeyed was upset when I did that on her sewing machine. It has a .050 plug gap and a module that does the variables. Of course, that is not the first time she has been upset with my doing something. As Buzz Lightyear said "Infinity and beyond" would be the number of times she has been upset in our approaching 60 years of wedded bliss.
The more stories you tell, the more I wish you had a RUclips channel. I think you know some pretty interesting stuff!!! The PerTronics ignitions and I have a love-hate relationship as you’ve seen in other videos. And I don’t know if I’m qualified to be a zenith wizard yet but maybe one day 🤣🤣🤣
Somebody put it on there, it’s not the correct model zenith that is supposed to have. I have a feeling this was one of the replacement models that they offered.
It is plain to see the idle cirrcuit is your problem. An air leak or a passage is partly pluged. A wire brissle from a wire brush works wonders on small passages.
Good to see it running at last...a little fine tuning and you'll have it earning its keep!!!
Thanks Don!
Glad the struggle bus rides were worth it 😊
It runs pretty sweet!
admire that you stuck with it good job
My dream tractor. What a pain. Can't wait to see more, you're as grumpy and cantankerous as I am, it's like it's me working on it.
🤣🤣🤣 thanks for watching!

Great vid thanks for sharing your top notch zenith installation 💨💨👍
Thanks Darren!
Hey,it's ok to talk to yourself, sometimes that is the only one that makes sense and usually agree with self another step forward on that job, keep the good times rollin on the videos
I agree with myself, most of the time 🤣
Sounds great Ross. I usually had parts left over after rebuilding a quadra jet carb. Always seemed to run ok. 👨🔧🚜👍👍
Thanks Tom! This carburetor is very lucky! This was its last chance 🤣🤣🤣
Shes a runner. Sounds like a beast.
It runs pretty good! Thanks for watching!!
Thanks for the video, glad you got to drive it hopefully the clutch with come to life with use.
I think it will definitely get better with use. Who knows how long it’s been sitting idle.

Thanks Craig! Hopefully we can get it out in the field and play with it one of these days!!!
It's funny you put that hee haw clip in. I was thinking of that song after watching one of your other videos.
Most of my projects are gloom and despair 🤣
I talked to myself all the time what else can you trust and you always get the answers that you need
New clutch in the future to possibly make it more betterer. Great video as always, cheers :)
Thanks! I’m gonna play with it a little bit first and then I’ll decide if the clutch needs replacing. It probably just needs used because it’s probably sat for a long time.

alway like your video you know what your doing an add a little humor besides
Love it Ross keep it up love the 880
Thanks!!!
See it's more better now.
Thanks!!
Nice Ross 🎉🎊👍🎈 glad to see that you got the Oliver 880 running and driveable. Thanks Michael
Thanks Michael! A great day for sure!
Awesome sounds great except for the carburetor, and the clutch, although that might be due to lack of use. Very good tractor
I’m thinking the clutch is probably getting pretty thin. In one video, I can’t remember if I left that part in, but I noticed how the clutch rod was adjusted all the way out.

Looks like a win Ross
It runs pretty decent!!!
Very good
Thanks David!
The 880 sounds great! 👍🏻👍🏻😊
Thanks Donald!!!
That is awesome. Wish I had one
Thanks!

Thanks Allan! It’s a lot of work for sure, but people are enjoying it so I’ll keep trying to do it.
Let her wobble!
🤣🤣🤣
great video
Thanks!
Great job. Nice to see the old girl running again. Just a little fine tuning and she'll be good to go. Thank you .
Thanks Keith!
It’s the high low making it shift hard. Pull it to the low side and they shift a lot better. At least our 770 does
It does in fact make a difference. The only thing I have found to be the case is you need to already have your foot on the clutch before you pull it to the low side or it will still grind.

Zenith not so bad just complicated. Had same problem with mine on my cub and combine. Hey it runs and we went for ride 👍🏻✌️👋🇺🇸🤗🤙🏻
I seem to remember a kit extra for load screw assembly one time while working on the cub .
I was wondering if there were some kind of thing you could order to replace that plug and put it in an actual needle to adjust. But I’m to the point that I’ll just replace the whole carburetor if it doesn’t work.
good job
Thanks!!!
Good to see the 880 more better ! I'm sure with tuning and tweaking you'll get it to function as it should !
Thanks! I still wanna play with the timing and adjust the carburetor a little bit and I think we’ll have something good
Entertaining as always Ross 👍 The flying carburetor was hilarious I've been there many times 😂😂 at least it landed in grass, I would a dropped it in the gravel and the string of 🤬 would a been a lot longer 🤣 😄

Yeah, kids today don’t know the joy of working in the field on the tractor. Today they call it child abuse but it was a lot of fun.
Fine job man 😊
Thanks!!!

That airplane you seen looked like a C-130. Military transport.
It could be. All I know is it had two wings and a tail.
Maybe it's the Stanley muffler, but it cackles like the timing needs a little tweaking.
I thought the same when I first fired it up. I think the timing is slightly off. I figured once that disaster carb was more better then I would start screwing up the ignition system.
Finally I got here lol
🤣

is that one of those aftermarket zeniths that's supposed to make the thing run sooo much better?
Somebody put it on there, it’s not the correct model zenith that is supposed to have. I have a feeling this was one of the replacement models that they offered.
If I remember right, Zenith carburetors run cold blooded and sometimes even have frost on them. That may be why it looks like it's leaking.
That may be true. Some carburetors ice worse than others
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks Paul!
Marvels are way better carbs and way easier to work on . I have a great distain for Zenith carbs as well .
Old Mr. Zenith isn’t my favorite person anymore 🤣🤣🤣
Ya, ain’t you glad it didn’t have a 4 barrel! LoL I find talking to myself is the only way to get an intelligent answer!
Until you get in an argument with yourself and lose said argument LOL
You can be right about that on both counts 🤣 I think if zenith made a four barrel that would be a good way to die on the highway 😂😂😂
The area between are planets and the stars is called zenith. This means the zenith could go to zenith.
I was ready to send that carburetor somewhere but it wasn’t to Zenith. It was down the other direction 🤣
You read the instructions? Who are you and what did you do with Ross?
🤣🤣🤣
Nice. Now, are those engines an oliver engine, or was it made by someone else ?
Waukesha engine
@@jaholl97 The gas engines are waukesha? I thought that was only diesel engines.
The engines were made by Waukesha, but Oliver did all the castings and ship them to Waukesha and then they did the final assembly.
