I say episode 1 is what kick started the slow domino effect and then episode 2 set everything in stone between Carlie clan’s path to revenge that started the whole time travel paradox thing with Squirtle living through guilt and trying to change fate too many times that now the universe is glitching and collapsing.

@Jrocksucks But Charmander didn’t cause the glitchy cataclysm since Episode 10 took place ten years later after Charmander was originally killed by Catepie and nothing happened. Squirtle kept changing the timeline too many times to save Charmander’s life that he caused a paradox that’s glitching everything into oblivion.
And poor celbei had to pay the price with Kadabra...

It technically didn’t matter since Episode 10 shows that the world is still fine ten years after this and now in Episode 11, Squirtle has caused a universal scale Missingo glitch doomsday
Oh my God, all of this really was Squirtle’s fault that whole time! And I’m not just talking about the time traveling. Sure Mewtwo blames Charmander for unleashing Missingino, because he wanted revenge on Himtonchan and rescue Bulbasaur. But this episode shows that breaking the pokeball, starting the glitches was Squirtle’s plan. All of the chaos was Squirtle’s fault!

The hitmonchan thing that happened is actually really scary. Imagine being so easily put out of existence to a place where it is total nothingness and you cant be hungry or thirsty so you're stuck there forever with only your thoughts getting tortured by boredom.

This is one of my favourite episodes in the series so far, because it really shows Charmander coming to terms with the consequences of his "might-makes-right" attitude. It was also inspiring to see Squirtle stand up to him despite his weakness. This is the kind of characterization I like to see. =)

To be fair, Gavin did teach Bulbasaur how to fight better. But I can understand if Charmander wants free will. Still not every Pokemon wants the same things out of life.

I was going to say "that's not what happens when you break a pokeball! All they would do is return to their physical form!" but after seeing where Hitmonchan ended up, I can forgive Starter Squad-logic because plot reasons aka Missing no.
On a more congratulatory note, I have to say this was amazingly well done! I loved Hitmonchan's voice acting and it's nice to see the three starters get some character development :) I also notice it is the longest episode so far. I'm wondering if maybe they'll gradually get longer? Or if we'll go back to having shorter ones? Or maybe it'll be random?

Lori P Thank you! I'm disregarding the anime logic in this series, because it's based off of the game canon. Also, gaahhhh. I really don't /want/ to write longer episodes, because they take longer to make, but I keep writing them longer because I want to tell a certain story. If I could be satisfied with writing a shorter script, I'd jump on it immediately. But with how episode 6 is shaping up right now, it's probably going to be just as long, if not longer, than this. Ugh, kill me. x_x

redholm I noticed that too, but the way Pokeballs supposedly work in the anime is that the Pokemon turn into spirit energy. If the ball did get destroyed in the process of being sucked in, the spirit would probably phase through the technology and just reappear in their physical form like they usually do. But like Shippiddge said his videos follow game logic more than they do anime logic xD
The worst part is, I've already had to cut out a scene that I really liked...

This is actually incorrect. According to the pokemon wiki page, if the pokeball is broken then all it does is release the pokemon from the trainer that owned that pokeball.

Jian Costa Animation is a looong process.
Oh i know, and i expected for these animations to take like 3 to 6 months. But what suprised me is that the animator put in so much work and skill, along with professional editing, for example that No.0 pixelated pokemon, that was shifting and felt alive, to that one with the gloves being enveloped in static. I just really like this animation, and ill make sure to look if more pokemon starters episodes pop up...........

Rewatching the episodes, it occurs to me that even though Charmander smashed the pokeball, it was Squirtle who came up with the idea.

Yeah, now that I'm a lot older and rewatching, I love how I can actually pick up on the themes of the story. Probably the main one being freedom vs Captivity and how each character reflects that theme in their character arcs. Such as squirtle who goes from being a pitiful law abider in order to escape responsibility and agency in his life, to someone who chooses gain the courage to chart their own path and becomes a lot more assured in himself because of it.
