@@oma_gooner indeed, goals change games, I've not seen a good angle to say for definite, but looked like there was an offside at the time in the build up, so it may not have counted if he had, but it's academic as a combination of a poor finish and a good save meant it didn't matter, I don't see this as Arsenal bottling it, they played well first half and Arteta tweeked his tactics to create problems for us down your left and they were working, Odegaard was spectacular first half. Emery made changes to counter the tactics and Odegaard, they worked and we gradually took control. That's probably the best Villa have played in 2024. All the best for the rest of the season, fingers crossed for a city slip up somewhere.

That coefficient thing is just some more or less complicated maths based on the performance of teams from the different countries in ALL the European Cups (CL, EL, Conf-L) to find out who gets additional spots. It is a one time thing that happens because of the changes to the Champions League this year. I don't think it's really important to understand all the intricacies of the process. The important part is: 1 additional CL-spot most likely goes to Italy and the second one to either England or Germany depending on their performance in the Cups. (which gives the matches between Bayern and Arsenal (CL) as well as Leverkusen and West Ham added importance!)

Also have to say (and I hope this doesn’t sound patronising) but absolutely loving how confident and knowledgeable you now sound when talking about everything going on in football at the minute, you’ve come on massively from your first videos, it’s incredible.

In terms of views, there may still be value in spinning the "new American football fan" angle (even though I acknowledge you aren't really new anymore given how much time and effort you've invested into engaging with the sport), so I'm sure the Discord could help you come up with a name for the segment that incorporates that in some way.

Almost winning it last year and choking it in the very last match against Mainz at home. But still it is good for the german football in general and the way Leverkusen is playing football is incredible. Also, he just makes incredible content in general. React to his video about Osasuna in La Liga. They’re a fan owned club who has a core of predominantly academy players and they’re upper mid table, even going to the copa del Rey final last season. So you're starting to become an actual fan and realise it hurts? Welcome to the World Wide Soccer Fan Community!! Now you're real.
As a German football fan, I am very glad that the long Bayern München series in the German championchip is broken, and for a number of reasons:
    1) München's dominance was starting to affect the Bundesliga negatively. The imbalance of financial power grew ever greater, and people started to NOT think about the championship so much on the grounds that it was kinda boring, but focussed on Champions League qualifications and the relegation struggle instead.
    2) Leverkusen won their first title, but had been runner-ups in the past. Most spectacular so in 2002, when inside two weeks the lost the decisive match for the German championship, the German cup final and the Champions League final. These traumatic events earned them their nickname "Vizekusen". Talk about pain. In a way, they deserved to get a break, and their playing was up to the task.
    3) As a Schalke 04 supporter, I still hurt from the Four-Minute championship 2001 that München snatched from Schalke (who had played a fantastic season) in the last second of a four minute extra time. Talk about pain. We are second Bundesliga right now and in no state to get promotion, but I hope and believe that the day of revenge will come for us. Until then, I just enjoy watching the smug, self-satisfied smiles being wiped off the Bayern München management's faces.

Hi Luke, another fantastic video man! Love this style, please go with it, it’s always great to hear your personal perspective and get a recap on what’s going on in the football ⚽️ world at the same time. I think ‘Angeball’ at Spurs will take another season before consistency will be a thing at Spurs, I think there’s a few bumps and grinds they still have to endure yet though. I wasn’t surprised by Arsenal’s 2-0 home loss to Aston Villa on Sunday, we really didn’t play well and deep down I feared that our good run in this calendar year would eventually come to an end at some point. We just have to dust ourselves down and get on with it now and try and not f*ck up anymore in our remaining games and I hope Man City will somehow crack and drop points as I really don’t want to see them Premier League Champions again! If my beloved Arsenal don’t win the PL I hope Liverpool do, although after that unexpected 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace I can’t see how Man City won’t win it from here.

I am proud of the players tho for competiting till nearly the end, but they look empty in the tank - both physically & mentally now! I have this dreadful feeling that we are going to finish 3rd now and drop out of CL this week. Alright, there is a lot to comment on this video.
    - First, yes this is a good format, having a weekly video with a theme, make viewers more invested in the channel because they're waiting for this specific video.
    - As for the negatives emotions toward your club, well it's when you have them that you know you're really invested in it, one week I feel joy, the next anger and maybe the next one disappointment but I always comeback to my club and I will always support it.
    - I don't think Messi is doing more than the others legends who came to America, it's just that he's there at the right moment, I feel that Americans have been more invested in football for the last past 5 to 10 years and he just happen to be here at the right time. I like Messi but I don't think he's the only reason Americans are starting to be invest in this sport. For example, on RUclips, a lot of American football channels have pop-up since the last 10 years.
    - As for you're journey in the football world, you should watch more than the Premier League and Champion's League, because there are so much stuff happening between the differents leagues, national cups and the 3 european cups. I'm French so I'm watching first and second division, sometimes the third one, the French Cup but also matches in England, Italy, Germany, Spain, also I'm keeping an eye on Portugal, Netherland, Belgium, ... Obviously I'm watching Champion's league but also Europa League and Europa Conference League. Well I'm not watching every matches in Europe but I check at least on all these competitions from time to time.
Well the more you watch, the more you understand the sport, the culture and everything around football.
    - And to finish, a big congratulation to Bayer Leverkusen because they just did something big. Good luck to them in the final of the German Cup and the League Europa as well as keeping their invincibility this season.

Hi Luke, I have a question for you that might be useful for a video essay/comparison. Football fans have MANY competitions to follow, practically all year round. In American sports, each sport individually has practically only one competition per year (except for the NBA and the IN-season tournament, which in my opinion was a total success), but they are so well synchronized that in reality you can also see them as multiple competitions throughout the year. I understand that for your compatriots, and even for yourself several months ago, it may be confusing to understand the number of tournaments and the importance of each match. However, this year you have been able to follow English football and the Champions League, as well as keeping an eye on other tournaments. What do you think?

I always find it interesting that Americans tend to use American football as a way of teaching their kids that if you’re persistent and stay loyal to your team, one day they will have success and you’ll be rewarded for not being a bandwagon fan.
Europeans seem to use Soccer as a way to teach their children that life isn’t fair, how to deal with disappointment, and that some people will always have more money than you.

You do know if Arsenal gets knocked out by Bayern Munich it reduces the chances of the premier league getting that 5th ucl spot just saying 😂😂

I don’t delete comments. Sometimes youtube holds comments but I don’t delete a comment unless it’s truly awful.

Yes we like this kind of content and you should ignore the people who say that they don't want usa to become a football nation. It's the world's game so the more people get into the sport, the more beautiful it will become

I wish you started watching football years back. The players of today aren’t as good as players just a few years ago.

Xabi Alonso has a bright future ahead of him. Great player, coached by great coaches. I am not a Leverkusen fan, but I am a fan of well played football.
