Au jus is a French cookery term . Traditionally it’s the meat juice left in the pan (which has a lot of flavour) that comes from cooking meat like roast beef. It can be used on its own by reducing it in a pan so it thickens slightly or thickened with corn starch to make a sauce. I suspect that the packet one you used contains freeze dried pan juices plus a few other ingredients. That’s a good recipe to prepare in the morning and when you come home from work it’s ready to eat. It looked great and from your comments tasted great too.
My crock pot roast. Chuck roast. Baby carrots. Small red potatoes. Big onion. Liptons onion soup. Cream of mushroom soup. First use a slow cooker liner. Layer veggies. Cut taters in they are too big. I packet liptons. I salt and pepper but you do you. Chuck roast. Packet of liptons. Low and slow 4-6 hours. Roast should fall apart on your fork. Add cream of mushrooms. Stir. Give it 30 more mins. Serve over rice. You can also add a can of green beans when you add the cream of mushroom soup. So good and completely foolproof. And when you are done, pack up any leftovers. Take out the plastic liner and throw it away. Rinse your crock pot and dishes are done.

In a crock pot, 1 beef chuck roast, a whole jar of pepperoncinis juice and all, 1 packet of au jus, 1 packet of ranch seasoning and stick of butter. Cook on low 8 hours and shred it up! Good on sandwiches, with pasta or even over potatoes
