@@CarConfections now is a good time to get a 2024 leftovers. I just got a 24 X1 M35I, 6k miles, loaded (Conveinance pkg2, Msport pro, shadow line, Park Assist, Heads up display, 20 wheels)for $47k.
The X1 is quick, roomy, nimble, and pretty quiet. Mine gets low 20 mpg in suburbia but 36 mpg at 75 mph on highway. Seats are comfortable. Heads-up display is great. The stop/start can be turned off (every time you start the car) using the menu and a shortcut makes it not too big a problem. Car is bumpy, even with 18” wheels. AWD is poor in snow. Menu system is cumbersome-use car play. The wheel “spokes” are not real ones tied to the wheels, but are cheap snap-on plastic disks that pop off if you hit a curb. The sun visors do not slide sideways and are poor at blocking glare at sunup and sundown. So, a number of nuisance complaints, but mostly vehicle is laudable.
They changed the ASS disable to a drop down on the main Home Screen so it’s much easier to get to. The DCT behavior got significantly better on mine after the latest software update. I was surprised at how shockingly quiet the interior is on mine, I’d also add that the m35i version gets a limited slip front diff that the 28i does not have. It’s been driving great in the plenty of snow and slush/ice we’ve had this winter so far. And I do get great mph out of it, easily 31-34mpg on the highway cruising and 26-27ish around town. Being able to say “Alexa, how much fuel is in my car” while inside the house is a neat gimmick, but the “hey bmw” system in the car is excellent (once you download the English language dictionary). I’m at the 1 year mark for my X1 m35i and it’s been the first car I’ve ever bought/leased to have zero issues in the first year. Build quality has been superb, no rattles or clunks. We’ll see how year 2 goes.
On my 2025 x1 M35i, I can easily defeat the A/SS by switching from D to S via the shift control (i.e. without using the "my modes"). You can either stay in S (and enjoy the hell out of that) or shift back to regular D, where the A/SS will stay off. So yes, not ideal, or super convenient like the dedicated button as on some BMWs, but with the shortcut and what I just mentioned, its not really something that should turn someone off completely.
I had a x1 but it was a 2016 and it fell apart.. traded for a Lexus.. But, I loved the style of the 2020 x2 so I bought one . 5 years in I am still loving this car. So far so good, no problems routine maintenance, drives faster and more fun than the Lexus. I still like the x1 and they haven’t ruined the style yet so I would consider it again in the future, but hope to keep the x2 forever, lol
I bought a 2025 x3 a few weeks ago and LOVE IT!!! highly recommend. BMWs drive like a dream! coming from a 9 year old Mazda cx5 which was a fantastic car for many years. Downsides to BMW- depreciates quickly due to high cost of repairs and parts (we are talking extreme!!). I bought a 6 year warranty to get me through. Other note: if you are into having your car look perfect at all times (I could see water spots on that grill in the video) the styling of these cars is pretty intricate and requires a lot of detail work!! If that's not for you, beware! the customization of the computer is amazing!!!!!!!!!! you can do so much and the self-driving is fantastic. I use it almost every drive in a suburban area. If you do not want to take the time to get know a computer system, this is not the car for you. I am 50 years old and am putting the time in. LOVE!!!
For sure! The BMW X1 is a compact SUV that offers a mix of sporty handling and practicality. It has a stylish design, a comfy interior, and plenty of tech features. Plus, it’s got good cargo space for all your stuff.
I had a Cad once that had a little speed limit sign in the gauge cluster. Did I see one on this bmw? My Pacifica has to have the nav on to see it and my enclave only has one if there is a destination in car play. I miss it.
It's more attractive than the new X3. It's also built in Germany like a BMW should be. My MINI Cooper has the same 7-speed dual clutch transmission. Once you get used to it, it feels sporty, but in traffic as Drew said it feels like it struggles to decide what it wants to do. I would pick the new X1 over the new MINI Countryman. Just like with the new X3 BMW made it far less attractive than the previous generation.
I just got an X1m35i, it’s roomier than my CX5 turbo. In the CX5, I couldn’t get low enough 5’11. In the X1, I had to raise the seat up 4 inches from the bottom to see over the dash. Still 5 inches from the pano roof. A 6’5 person will easily fit inside the front seats. Handles very sharply, a bit too firm sometimes here in the rust belt(20 inch wheels, 19 would be better). The CX5 has more cargo room but the X1 "drives" like a smaller vehicle, I’d say like a Golf R. Very nimble for its size. Btw- I’ve had it for 3k miles, it’s getting slightly better mileage than my CX5 turbo did. 23mpg (mostly city).
@@phillm156 Honestly, CX-5 and CX-50 are junk only car reviewers like because they only test drive it and don't have to live with it. Those 2 models are sub-compact with the footprint of compact and some soft touch materials to justify the asking price
@@PeizxcvYou are stretching it. The CX-5 and the CX-50 are perfectly fine small cross overs. The perfect car does NOT exist. So there are times one has to live with certain pitfalls.

So you have the 28i? The M35i doesn't come with 18" wheels I don't think.
Great video on the BMW X1!!! Great job guys!!

It’s a nice little suv, I love the metal speaker grills and the red and black Interior ! It’s a great price
Really enjoy your videos
Drew looks good in a bimmer - even if it is loosey goosey hahaha - you guys crack me up, great review. big thanks

Fantastic review!😸
Thanks! Enjoy the warmer weather this weekend!
Great value for its price to be honest. I also think design wise, its design is a whole lot better than the cheap minimalist mess that the new X3 is.
Its awesome for the price I would buy this over the new camry because the new camry costs the same as this

I would have liked to see the back up cam screen.360?
what's the height of the cargo? i couldnt find that video you mentioned
Very nice looking suv!
What is the name of the song played during Harmon Kardon sound sample?
Lofi Mallet by Kwon
Ventilated Front seats and heated rear seats are common on cheaper vehicles, like my CX-5.

There is nothing wrong with being made in the USA.
Why wouldn't the have calculated the weight distribution to avoid the steering loosey goosey. That's not good at all.
Holy turbo lag
I want to like it but I can’t see paying a ton more money for a BMW when the Mini Countrymen is basically the same vehicle.
$60k + and it doesn't have ventilated seats! 😭
Weird that it doesn’t have ventilated seats at this price. My rav4 prime even has it for way cheaper.
I like bmw, but the x1 is too small
Ever heard of a compact SUV

It’s obviously not for you so do not buy it. There are plenty of folks who buy it!

The center console design is so bad. Almost no place to put hands without the driver and passenger accidentally touch something
Duel clutch. No thanks
X1,X2, I don't consider them a true BMW, there more like Mini coopers especially the platform they sit on. X3 and up for me.
first!
Looks like a Mazda CX90😂
You need to get those eyeballs checked. These two look nothing alike!
The rear of the x1 looks so bad
Probably the most disappointing car I have ever owned. Period
The X1 looks better than the new X3... 😂😂😂
