  • Every ship at sea must contend with bad weather. Seakeeping gives us the science to understand and control ship motions in rough water. With seakeeping, we advanced from simply surviving storms to routinely operating in rough waters. This lecture was presented to Pakistan Naval Engineering College and divided into several RUclips Videos. Part 1 introduces the science of seakeeping.

      Yes, rebranding. Same company and service. I'm just working on a more consistent message and presentation.

    This is so cool.ive been thinking about videos that would teach how to obtain hydrodynamic potentials using panel method with practical source codes from very scratch

    I am enjoying the magic of the Towing Tank.
    Particularly the construction of them.
    Have you covered the earth curving nature of the Towing Tanks.
    I ask because I have a a Flat Earther friend who totally believes that water can not display convexity upon the surface of large standing bodies of water.
    However TOWING TANKS.

      I did not explicitly cover this. But you are correct. For longer towing tanks, we need to account for curvature of the earth, specifically when aligning the rails for the towing carriage. This gets tricky because you need a reference line that also curves with the earth. A straight laser line will not work. One example I saw used a trough of water as the reference surface, since the water surface adjusts to match the local gravitational field.

      @@DatawaveMarineSolutions mate I enjoyed your videos, I was researching for a flat earth debunking video I made. The target says often that large standing bodies of water do not display convexity upon there surface. Towing Tanks say otherwise.
      Pop over to my channel and check out the video with Towing Tanks.

    Hello ¿Can you explain me the differents between Naval Architect and Engineer?
    Thanks.

    • @DatawaveMarineSolutions
      @DatawaveMarineSolutions  3 года назад +2

      The term "Naval Architect" really is misleading. A "Naval Architect" is an "Engineer" that specializes in ship design. Within the field of ship design, engineers tend to divide into three broad groups: "Naval Architects" focus on the ship structure, hydrodynamics, and interactions with the water. "Marine Engineers" focus on mechanical systems (engines, HVAC, pumps and piping) and interior safety. "Electrical Engineers" focus on the ship's electrical systems. But there is still large overlap between all the professions. For example, Naval Architects and Marine Engineers both specialize in structural design.

      Not at the moment. The website recently was rebuilt and I am currently focusing on migrating the old content to the new site.
