Except it's not, because this car is only insignificantly more expensive than a VW Polo with which it shares most mechanical things, but it's objectively nicer in every way. Better tuned, more comfortable, nicer to drive, higher quality interior, better seats, nicer design, more quiet, etc. So you get plenty of extras over just the badge.
Its a good little family car/runabout, got a good gearbox and drives well. Yes, it's not exactly the highest quality interior, but this car just does not depreciate. Parents had a a1 30tfsi sport, bought it for 20-23k, part exed it for 18. And 20k miles, crazy!
Most cars hold their value just as well, if not better. Renowned dependable brands like Toyota hold their value exceptionally well. They come with a 10 year warranty, not like you'll ever need it. I do light mechanics on cars and one thing I know for sure is I will never buy a French, German or British car as long as I live.
One of the most premium small cars. Yes it has an Audi badge, but if you want the most small premium car then you can’t go wrong here. Also they hold their value better than an S3 so financially may be better suited for people in town for example. Great video!!
@@SF-rs3xm False on all accounts. Go drive the A1 and Polo and you'll see which one has a higher quality interior and better suspension. Specs are the same on both, same equipment.
@ I’ve driven both, you can even check the VW and Audi website. VW you get travel assist, ACC, blind spot monitoring, better sound system, variable boot floor, auto lights and wipers, and it has more space in the back. VW has softer suspension too especially since the 2021 facelift. The A1 is a joke for people who are fooled by marketing and have an inferiority complex that they need a car with a badge that’s aspirational for the lower middle and working class 🤣✌🏻
I've just parted with my A1 40 TFSI S-Line (a bit better spec than the one in the video, with virtual cockpit and wireless CarPlay, and how come you don't have an armrest in the middle and where in the world is your boot floor? Mine had both an armrest and a proper adjustable bootfloor), and I have to say, if I didn't need a larger car for our little growing young family, I would have kept it for a lot longer. I had it for almost 70,000km, it never failed me. It's size is perfect for a couple and a dog, it's fast, looks modern, handles amazingly well, and feels a lot, and I mean a lot, more premium than other cars in this segment. People often compare it to a Golf or A3 rather than a Polo for some reason (and that says a lot), trust me, I sat in a Polo in full spec and the Polo just isn't as nice as the Audi. I sat in an old A3 and it's certainly not as modern and nice as this A1, and it also has a lot of scratchy plastics too, just like the very new Audis released in 2024. You're definitely not only paying for a badge, but for a more premium feel overall. You're comparing it to the old A3, which is (and I could be wrong here) the exact same size in dimensions as this A1. You can of course get an old and frankly dated car without warranty (I say dated because let's be honest, it feels like an old car inside, not in a good way, not like an older A4), I could of course get a "normal" 2021 A3 for the money back then albeit with a little less spec, but having 200hp in this new and modern car with all the modern equipment felt amazing. I'm moving on to a Q3, but I have to say, I will miss the A1 and I wish I could keep it. So, despite all the know-it-all and never-owned negative comments from window shoppers (who probably drive their mom's 2012 Fiesta anyways), I can assure you that this car has a lot to deserve the Audi badge.
It's my first audi. But I love it. My friends who have all got very posh cars seem to like it. Maybe not a car for the enthusiast. But to the average joe, it gets the thumbs up.
Ill be honest Id never buy a premium small German hatch unless it was a fast one with a big engine too expensive to run, servicing with BMWs at least is a nightmare getting booked in.better off going for an A4,3 series,C Class etc if you do want a premium car but even then Id only want one with a bigger engine.
Because when you live in big city like me, a smaller car make a huge different to park, I had a golf before and it was harder. The Leon is bigger and in my opinion the a1 is more beautiful inside and outsider a friend have one and now wants to change for the A1. Other point the Leon is 200 kg more with the same engine 30 TFSI 116 pas the A1 is more powerful and consume less fuel
The definition of just paying for the badge
exactly like its £30k you can buy a older a3 or a6 for that money why would u buy a a1😅
If it's a definition of paying for the badge, why buy an older a3 or a6 for that money?

@Oskar-iq4mm Because nobody's been farting into the new A1's seat for a couple of years or drooled and sneezed all over your steering wheel.
@@Jaroslav.because you are actually paying for a good car and not this

These and new polos have great engines. They hold money well on them.

Thinking about a 2018 Seat Ibiza, or Polo for a first car. In my mind 2018 doesn't feel like 7 years ago, but the used car prices don't seem to match.
The s-tronic variant is the one to have. In terms of spec, anything below the Vorsprung, is pretty much useless as you miss out on huge spec options.

Not forgetting that , someone who is buying a A1 probably cant reasonably insure a S3 even though theyre the same money
@@Rampage1Rules Keeping the S3 on the road is going to cost twice as much
A Polo is the same, has a better quality interior, high specification as standard and better suspension.

S-Tronic gearbox is a must ….
Hard to find honest reviews, thank you.

nice vid. crazy how much cost cutting there is even from a premium brand
small new cars have joke prices, no idea who in their right mind would buy them.
Never liked the A1, never will, Audi A3 should be the base Audi model, they need to scrap a1
But there’s probably a better markup on the A1 and people but them
Have you forgotten about a mini cooper? Surely a comparison here
mentions the leon but not the ibiza that has the same engine and is arguably slightly nicer inside in the fr/fr sport spec?
I agree, a comparison with a modern 5 door mini hatch for the same money is definitely worth it. Made by BMW, it’s basically a luxury item now.
insurance on minis is crazy
Do you feature in car wow videos?
@LRKIRBY Yes that’s where i work full time
Would you say seat Ibiza fr is better?!
can you review a F40 m135i please? im really considering buying one. Thanks
Would be interesting to see what you think of the A1 40tfsi - 2l 4 Cylinder in there
i see so many people on tiktoks buying these audi a1s, i can't understand why
2:04 same acceleration as a 1.2 3 cylinder N/A polo from 14 years ago 🤣🤣
I like car but you're paying mainly for the badge. I would just go with the polo
I mean it's basically the same as the current SEAT Ibiza, VW Polo or Skoda Fabia.

The Polo has a higher quality interior than the A1 lol and is higher spec as standard and cheaper.
this is why i got a 1 series xD
can u do a bmw m135i next mate
These are seriously expensive used! I don’t get it. Especially for a 1.0 3 cyl
Seat Leon looks better is better quality and cheaper why would anyone buy this
The badge. Obviously

the a1 is under equipped and over priced, sadly not as good as it used to be
I drove a 25 tfsi some time ago, it was even worse; horrible quality for such a brand
rubbish car, looks good tho also where's the s1
