At least episode 7 has one thing going for it -- by introducing alternate timelines, I can now pretend that S2 happened in another universe where everything is stupid.
I want to remind people that Maddie almost got killed in the memorial attack while protecting the counselors in episode 1, and that in act 2 after bedding cate she tried to convince her to back off from the invasion of Zaun. The fact that she's a spy only works if you forget all her action thus far but i don't blame anyone that did
Maybe that's why the big shimmer dude was just holding her up by her leg for 5 minutes. After he grabbed her she whispered "I'm on your side, idiot!" and he went into a panic and just stood there till somebody rescued her.
@@HisNameWasCrazy That would be funny honestly. The main thing for me is that the whole thing is just really worthless. Instead she is just an informant. I don't even know what she did aside from sabotaging a bomb that was attached to an empty egg.
Fucking hell I just realized Ekko's time machine from episode 7 shouldn't even work. It was made using the unstable Hex stones from act 1 season 1. Because Hextech never developed in that universe Jayce and Vicktor wouldn't have been able to refine them into the Smooth Hex Gemstones which were made explicitly so Hextech can be used in hand held devices, like Ekko's time machine. So Either the time Machine should have exploded, or Ekko, Powder and Dongler where able to figure out something in one day that took Jayce and Viktor seven years.
They really shouldn't have separated the two and have a few episodes trying to survive in the future with Jayce and Himerdinger finding a way back home and Jayce finally understanding Himerdingers fear, but nope 😅
Ekko and Heimer wouldn’t have to just “figure it out”, they have experience with the gemstones (particularly Heimer). Additionally, it’s not one day that they spend working on things

@@bleeters5984 Oh, goodness. That's true. I think people are going to be happy to see Jinx. She's a huge fan favourite and that's probably why they couldn't let her die.
The most shocking thing in season 1 was innocent children that we were attached to getting killed unexpectedly seconds before escaping, setting up expectations that in this show no one was safe, actions have consequences. Season 2, only red shirts die, and people doing the heroic sacrifice, whilst main characters have extreme plot armour and luck. It was such a disappointment.
Well i was completely invested in Viktors story sad that it didn't end with him and Jayce becoming tragic enemies it would have been so cool to see a mini series about the feud between the two.
The conversation in S2:Ep8 between Mel and Jayce should've been explored throughout season 2. Imagine Mel and Haimerdinger setting up a new council after being reinstated due to his warnings and knowledge about the arcane. Also, we have Haimerdinger and Jayce figuring out what the arcane is and what Viktor's new form is while Mel along with the new council deals with Viktor's popularity and newfound power in Zaun and how that'll affect Piltover? Also, Mel and Jayce talking about their relationship and Jayce expressing his doubt about Mel's care for him and Viktor in season 1 and Mel providing him with reassurance.
Act 3 only happens if the so-called adults do not talk to each other. When Victor approaches Jayce in the hippie commune in Ep 6, Jayce just has to say "I traveled forward in time and YOU asked me to stop you from doing this because it will destroy the entire world and everyone on it." Then Victor reads his mind and we get the happy ending. I would love to list the massive number of characters that took hits that would have auto-ended them, super-contrivances, plot holes, and schizophrenic character moments, but I am six shots into erasing the memory of this. For me this is worse than TJL since FA and RoS also do a lot of damage and this simply inverts everything good about Arcane S1. Hell, how did Heimer even build the massive power cells and platform in a few hours while Ekko was at the party? "Ah, who cares. No one is paying attention." - S2 writers (especially the witch they added from Agatha's "writing" team - hey at least the Marvelitis elements like the tunnel dialogue makes sense nough) 10/10 for Visuals -4 / 10 for story due to all the retconning that damages S1
Ep 7 shouldn't be possible simply because powder, clager and mylo should be rotting in prison for trespassing on private property, trying to steal things, endangering the people in piltover and causing the VI and jayce's death (if it's true). Not only that but also the relationship between zaun and piltover should be broken as hell due to that tragic event, prohibit zaun people from entering the city. By the time ekko arrives to that time line, the state of events should be completely different, making it impossible for him to get the hextech he found in the wall where the explosion happened. This connects to episode 9 since he stops jynx from killing herself and becomes the boy saviour in the end by stopping viktor from turning the world into a grave of statues. This is what I call top tier writing

Yes. Thank you for pointing this out. Singed does not merit a happy ending. How many other children died because of his monstrous creations; how many other parents lost their daughters? He's an irredeemable character. It's fine not write a morality tale with everyone getting what they deserve, but the narrative seems to think he's done nothing wrong, as if 'love' somehow justifies it, underminining all the supposed acknowledgement that he's a monster. He's just as responsible as Jayce and Viktor, perhaps more. What kind of world did he think his stupid daughter was going to live in? He was willing to have everything turned into a hellscape for the sake of his research, but what is the point of reviving her if there's nothing left to live for? Screw Singed - I hope his daughter is traumatized once she realizes she's just another one of his mutations and rejects him as a father when she finds out what he did. That's my headcanon, anyway.
@@JoshuaKevinPerry To be fair, I don’t think the show thought that far that “he’s too useful to be locked up”. More like they forgot about what he did.

Even though Vi loves Jinx very much, I think Vi would've arrested her. I think she would've turned her in and asked Caitlyn not to execute her for her crimes but to give her a sentence as punishment instead. In S2:Act 2, it seems as though Vi has given up on capturing Jinx which is strange.

So far, im not convinced the flashback with Silco in ep 5 really destroyed anything. If anything it solidifies a lot about Vander and Silco's characters. Would Silco have known the girls? Probably but distantly, given that Felicia is clearly closer with Vander and in the images of their childhood we are shown it's only Vander interacting with them. Silco is very willing to kill children to get Zaun. If we assume that Felicia gave Silco any particular inspiration in that scene, them its not unreasonable to say that it solidifies his vision of Zaun needing to be on equal footing as Piltover to ensure good lives for everyone, and he's willing to kill for it and justify whatever he needs to get there. Vander is inspired by Felicia in a similar way, but after seeing the cost he sees that a violent revolution isnt worth it. Vander and Silco both want Zaun, but they disagree on what they are willing to lose. When Vander realizes that not only has he lost a friend, something he was probably very ready for, but that his actions have cost children, that he knows and probably cares about, their parents. He was willing to sacrifice of himself, but he realizes he's forced many other people to have to sacrifice as well without being able to even understand it. That cost is too much for Vander, and he takes action against Silco soon after. Would've liked to see the ensuing argument between them that led Vander to choosing to kill Silco, but not with how these writers are acting now. I can see this flashback and still totally believe all of Silco's actions in the first season, and it can add a little flavor of irony to his relationship with Jinx. The flashback gives me no reason to think Silco would've been any different having known the girls' mother than if he didn't because before we could've already assumed he knew their mother and knew of them growing up. So if somebody has good arguments to make that conclusion feel free to argue them, im open to changing my mind on this i just haven't seen anything that should make me see it as a betrayal or retcon.
Yes, but Baldur's death is the one thing Freya was trying to prevent, and a mother whose son has been killed doesn't need a reason to be irrationally upset about it. I think that it was in self defense is a major part of why Freya could even fathom forgiving Kratos.
@kyanitekat i understand that, just like I understand that they are viking gods with different values one of them not being forgiveness. However my point is that I have zero sympathy for Freya when it comes to here attempted murders. Like one of our hosts refer to what Kratos did as "unjustified", as in Kratos believes what he did was unjustified and thus deserves to be hunted by Freya, which is the farthest thing from the truth. They were completely justified in killing balder when they did, I will defend the right of Freya to hate them for it, but I despise the story for it's attempt to validate Freyas' attempted murder. Freya deserved the same fate as her son, yes she is a grieving mother, she is also a psycho murderer, with the crime of her victims being they defended themselves from her son.
They did not kill baulder in self defense, Kratos killed him to stop him from killing Freya. Not only was baulder dying something that she had been desperately trying to prevent but she was perfectly willing to give her life for him to live. Kratos even admits that the choice between life and death should have been hers (although he still doesn’t regret it). Freya still would have been mad tho if it was self defence
@nubby3050 seems you may be ignoring the numerous attempted murders balder made at Kratos and his son. just because he has taken a second to kill someone else while attempting to kill you doesn't change the fact that he is trying to kill you. Also if you read my other comment you will notice I defend the fact Freya can get mad about it all she wants. But when she trys killing them she is not justified. And Kratos was justified in killing balder. And the games go too far in excusing her violent behavior, when she has made it justifiable for Kratos to kill her too.
5:42:30 - "Cool character doesn't erase need to see justice." This is exactly why I can't stand Singed and his ending. He is responsible for way more deaths than anyone else in the show, between creating Shimmer, mutating Warwick and resurrecting Viktor. His motivations are not an excuse. His need to save his daughter is entirely selfish. I'm sure she'll be just fine when she wakes up and discovers the horrifying lengths her father went to, torturing and mutating humans and animals, selling his soul to help anyone, including Viktor and his puppets hellbent on taking over the world. Did he ever stop to think that they would just assimilate him as well? I don't think Singed emerges from this story unscathed at all and him getting what he wanted at the end was one of the worst aspects of an already infuriatingly broken story.
"His need to save his daughter is entirely selfish." Yes. And? "Did he ever stop to think that they would just assimilate him as well?" Why would he? He literally tells Caitlyn he's doing all of this horrible shit for his daughter. He doesnt give a fuck about anyone else but her. "him getting what he wanted at the end was one of the worst aspects of an already infuriatingly broken story." Why? Were you also pissed off when Thanos won in Infinity War? Are stories where the bad guys win inherently bad?
Honestly? I saw in the comments of Efap ACt 1 Anime writing mentioned, but the context was for season one. However this shit really made me think about the most generic badly stolen anime tropes at the end of it. Not even Marvel what I thought about when Episode 7 rolled around and Ekko ended up in an apparently "wholesome" timeline was Steins;Gate. When Jayce ended up in a dark future I got DBZ future Trunks vibes... I don't know man I expceted way more, even assuming this show had a story outline for 5 Seasons. The componentes here are so shallow, so used up and unoriginal there is no way in hell these are still the same writers. It's just shit top to bottom. Go watch some good anime or better yet play the Steins;Gate visual novel or Muv Luv Alternative. Both of these did Alternate Timeline stories justice. This is just embaressing and a waste of time and investment.
You asked if it was the failsafe room in the last episode. Pretty sure it's the gate tower in the globe. Failsafe underground is a copy that is supposed to disperse excess power. So in case of an overload the explosion happens underground not above the city.
Was really weird to see how one of the guys on podcast likes some scenes, and then feels immediate shame and need to justify himself and backtrack, otherwise he would be bullied by other two, who try to find something to hate in every scene they watching
Point of this podcast isnt giving an opinnion, its discussing the quality of the show. If you dont have adequate arguments for why something you liked is actually good then its irrelevant. If you want people just listing what a show made them feel and how they like the show, this is a wrong place for you.
@xentiment6581 so you think it's a good reviewing, when some good scene happens, they just comment "that's was fine" And move on, and then bad scene happens and they talk for 30 minutes about it? This is fair review for you? Act 1 discussion was more or less adequate and balanced in that regard, but they seem to got carried away with completely brushing past positives and overconcenrating on negative moments that are not only happen in most of tv shows, but even in arcane season 1 which was far from perfect
@АлинаКостылева-ф2ч i havent watched act 1 and 2 coverage as I got that from EFAP so I can argue on that. However Id still make a general point about the fact that as you progressively annihilate every foundational element of your story those bits and pieces that are still good diminish in value more and more as they are built on and succeeded by nonsensical cringe. Coin in a shitpile mighy be worth more than the shit that surrounds it, but it still stinks. Also arguments about 'happens elsewhere' are not of value here. Just because bad thing is widespread, doesnt make it any better. Most media today sucks ass. Arcane was a gem and they ruined it by making it same as everything else.

Am I forgetting? Did they not kill balder in self defense in god of war? I always hated Freyas' motivation for trying to kill Kratos and his son
Come on guys, it was so poggy woggy tho🎉
Ekko and donger do have a sit down with jinx and explain everything, its in a montage, theres no dialogue
You asked if it was the failsafe room in the last episode. Pretty sure it's the gate tower in the globe. Failsafe underground is a copy that is supposed to disperse excess power. So in case of an overload the explosion happens underground not above the city.
But I have no idea. My description would make sense so it could be wrong
@@Zolwiol
No, you're right.
Jayce literally tells this to Ekko in episode 3.
Once I realized where we were going at the start of episode 7, I stopped. I can't bring myself to watch the rest of the series. Fuck this show.
