Criminally underrated artist, this is easily one of the most beautiful songs I’ve heard in a long time, and still is to this day

I really like the song and I love the singers. They don't seem off key to me. The performance isn't awkward. It's amazing, and they should stick to making amazing songs for themselves and others. KEXP has some really good live performances.
Hmm... its not quite as perfect as their record recording but I still thought it was pretty on point.
Its male falsetto so its going to sound different than the female cover that I can tell your comparing it to without actually mentioning it.
I personally much prefer this original to the Ellie Goulding cover, especially the intro vocals. and yes she does auto tune it whereas these guys are not.

Obviously self-taught on lever harp. There's a lot more tone that can be extracted from those strings with proper technique. It's good, however, to see the instrument getting used outside it's usual setting.

I don't think so. If you notice Ellie when she preforms this song live always sings into a special autotune-mic when singing the high parts. Looks like that is actually Active Child's voice inflections.

I listened to this for the first time yesterday… and needless to say that I am deeply in love with the woman whom gifted me this song. What amazing art. Seeing it performed live is an absolute treat.
I just couldn't resist myself from writing some lines. I think this song is so much touching and beautiful. Undoubtedly it's the most astonishing song that I've heard in the very long time. Just goosebumps while listening to his beautiful voice and that amazing sound of harp. The indie at its the very best. Thank You, Active Child.
