    • @judyclarkson5887
      @judyclarkson5887 Year ago

      @alexcastillo6830 everything needs to be considered man... And everything weighs differently. Championships, MVP, and FMVP as the highest metrics (weighs the most compared to another metrics). Then a notch below that are probably all-nba 1st team, all-defensive teams, winning impact, cultural & economical impact, DPOY award. Then a notch below that are probably all-time stats (every players have their own arguments for this department like Lebron with his total all-time points but Stockton got steals & assists for example, Steph the most efficient in terms of true shooting and effective fg percentage amongst the top 50 scorers of all time), all-stars appearance, all-nba nods in total. A notch below that there are things like all-stars game mvp, 50-40-90 season perhaps (with other additional stuffs or details that one player has to support their argument). It's hard to formulate this thing but you got the idea. You gotta consider it all and not just pick n choose things that favor your fav players. There are still things like Players of the Month and Weeks awards, Clutch Player of the yr award (you can use a player's clutch fg percentage for players who played before that award existed), playoffs wins rate (tho one could include this as a part of that winning impact thing), playoffs ppg, finals ppg, scoring champ.
      But I think Im solid when saying that one should regard championships, mvp, and fmvp as the main metrics for one's legacy amongst these all-time greats. Probably with that all-nba 1st team award. These things are for me the ultimate separator that separates a the greats amongst their peers.

      @jrsmith3238 that’s why lebron is 2nd all time, Kobe lost in the finals also. But bron is ahead of Kobe because has done more as a number 1 option never been a number 2. Won 4 chips as the main focal point to Kobe’s 2 rings as the focal point. Along with lebrons 4 FMVPs to Kobe’s 2 FMVPS. Along with lebrons 4 MVPS to Kobe’s 1 mvp. I can say more things that support lebron without ever mentioning the longevity also

      cherrbuggin and braindead if you think he’s being ridiculous. dude’s spitting exactly what i’ve always felt on the matter, and nick young summarized it perfectly too-if jordan’s the goat, then the remix of jordan is still the next best thing point blank period. But media and bron’s PR knew stephen a’s point stands, that it’s a 1A/1B situation with MJ and Kobe and there can be no debate there because Jordan will always be first because he came first and dominated an expansion league. So what did they do? center the question around two completely different players so now you can talk endlessly about it by skewing what the goalposts are. Jordan vs LeBron. An actual basketball player vs a genetic freak with longevity and health carrying the conversation. Sure, the latter should be and is applauded and celebrated, but then this goes to the politics stephen a was tryna spin-sure lebron can get us there because he is great let’s not deny that, but please someone else take us home for God’s sake cause it sure as ** isn’t lebron.

    • @questgnarnia
      @questgnarnia Year ago +3

      Every single person in the top 10 has been to the finals a whole effton of times, so why is bron the only one with a losing record in the finals? and im even including the mickey mouse championship here. that’s yall’s goat? that’s what you want the greatest representation of the sport to be? the biggest loser of the bunch, but at least he’s a dude that stayed healthy and played for longer and accumulated more total stats, but he just couldn’t catch up in championships won in all that time while hopping from ready-made team to ready-made team? congrats! you beat up on a weak east. you were supposed to, as an all time great, soo you want a cookie for that? I mean, reem been to the same amount of finals as bron, has more wins than bron. we don’t give curry the love he deserves for winning 4 of them thangs no mickey while overcoming a bloody effing western conference. or kobe’s infinitely more impressive wins out in the western conference en route to 5 of them thangs. The whole ish is manufactured and you eat that ish up and think you have an original opinion or that it’s your own opinion for that matter. eye test clears every effing time, so put down the stat sheets, put down the subjective af media voted on awards.

    • @questgnarnia
      @questgnarnia Year ago +11

      Im sad because rashad is right-there’s no one to speak up on kobe’s behalf to the younger generation of fans that never watched him. And because of that the narrative has swung wildly online after his death. so then gil also has a valid point in, how are they supposed to dissect it without the stat sheet because they never will watch him. that’s all they have to go off of. and even highlights will never paint the whole picture. and it’s not the youth’s fault for wanting to participate in the fun conversation. but then that’s the problem. it’s easier when watching someone. kerr ain’t the better 3pt shooter because his % says so. you watched curry play. however, then the opposite is in-line with this thinking, people then don’t appreciate what a marksman, for example, bird was if they never watched him live, which was gil’s problem, and why he had to question stephen a on that. So these fans think they know it all and have it all figured out cause they look at kobe’s fg% or whatever metric they use to discredit him, but then use the same stat to prop up lebron, right? most bricks in nba history. if you wanna use longevity then you cant have your cake and eat it too. except lebron fans make it so he does but no other all time great can. it’s shot, man. listen to rashad, he’s right. and I’ll appreciate that stephen a can concede bron ain’t clutch and kobe is in his top 5.

    The only reason Kobe doesn’t have more MVPs is because of the case he caught back in the day everybody knows that I don’t know why they try to act like it didn’t happen so many MVPs were stolen from that man because of politics and he still ended up winning 2 more rings and going 3 straight finals and they act like they didn’t void a trade from Chris Paul going to the Lakers

    • @Kap_NYC
      @Kap_NYC Year ago +1

      Where does he win MVP if he doesn’t rape that woman?
      ‘04 - The same season where he missed 10+ games because of the case? Averaged 24/5/5 on 44/33/85 whilst KG had the better overall season, KG for that season was *the* premier best player that season.
      ‘05 - Averaged 28/6/6 on 43/34/82 whilst going 35 - 47.
      ‘06 - was the most hotly contested MVP race of the decade, five seperate players could have won that season but Kobe averaged 35/5/4 on 45/34/87 so people feel he should have not only won, but should have won unanimously whilst being the 7th seed.

    • @Rambo20244
      @Rambo20244 Year ago +3

      Well, I can say the same thing: the only reason Jordan doesn't have more championships and MVPs is because he retired twice in his prime.

    • @Kap_NYC
      @Kap_NYC Year ago +1

      @Rambo20244 I don’t see him having a better season than Hakeem in ‘94 or David Robinson in ‘95.
      Additionally, I don’t see the Bulls winning any more championships after ‘98.

      @Rambo20244 Year ago

    • @Kap_NYC
      @Kap_NYC Year ago +1

      @Rambo20244 I understand where you’re coming from, I really do.
      But unless Jordan averages 35 and more than 5 rebounds and assists with 2+ stocks then I don’t see him beating either player for MVP if they put up the exact numbers if Jordan played those two seasons.

      cherrbuggin and braindead if you think he’s being ridiculous. dude’s spitting exactly what i’ve always felt on the matter, and nick young summarized it perfectly too-if jordan’s the goat, then the remix of jordan is still the next best thing point blank period.
      Every single person in the top 10 has been to the finals a whole fuckton of times, so why is bron the only one with a losing record in the finals? and im even including the mickey mouse championship here. that’s yall’s goat? that’s what you want the greatest representation of the sport to be? the biggest loser of the bunch, but at least he’s a dude that stayed healthy and played for longer and accumulated more total stats, but he just couldn’t catch up in championships won in all that time while hopping from ready-made team to ready-made team?
      congrats! you beat up on a weak east. you were supposed to, as an all time great, soo you want a cookie for that? I mean, reem been to the same amount of finals as bron, has more wins than bron. we don’t give curry the love he deserves for winning 4 of them thangs no mickey while overcoming a bloody fucking western conference. or kobe’s infinitely more impressive wins out in the western conference en route to 5 of them thangs.
      The whole shit is manufactured and you eat that shit up and think you have an original opinion or that it’s your own opinion for that matter. eye test clears every fucking time, so put down the stat sheets, put down the subjective af media voted on awards.
      So these fans think they know it all and have it all figured out cause they look at kobe’s fg% or whatever metric they use to discredit him, but then use the same stat to prop up lebron, right? most bricks in nba history. if you wanna use longevity then you cant have your cake and eat it too. except lebron fans make it so he does but no other all time great can. it’s fucked, man.
      listen to rashad, he’s right. and I’ll appreciate that stephen a can concede bron ain’t clutch and kobe is in his top 5.

And it's the reason why Lebron ran to Miami to join Wade. LeBron had no rings when Kobe won his fifth ring and Wade only had one ring before LeBron joined him in Miami. Make it make sense! 😂

    Gilbert, that’s a bad take at 11:00. Every free throw is shot from the same distance and shot uncontested whereas Kobe was having to put up game winners over multiple people. Most of the time LeBron’s game winners were layups until later in his career outside of the three-pointer versus the magic in the playoffs.

      But if you want to see what most people see in Kobe, I suggest you to see his highlights.. Not top 10s like everybody sees, watch him play.. There are many big games highlights from him, you'll understand 💯 no need to downplay no legend, but look it up..

In his last game where he scored 60 pts he shot 22/50. Give T Mac, Arenas or Dwade 50 shots in a game and they will have comparable stats. Type Steph Marbury vs Kobe and watch Steph outscore him as well. I would be the GM that would pass him up for other talent that doesn't get the media attention. He was the closest to Jordan as far as moves but that's about it to me. TMAC was a beast. Work ethic and intangibles don't mean as much as to me as talent.

    Btw, in terms of Gil’s free throw percentage argument, if a guy has a better percentage over a long period of time but misses free throws at the end of the game when it’s a close game, no one would argue that person is a great free throw shooter.

    • @JLewis95
      @JLewis95 9 months ago

      I respectfully disagree. It doesn’t matter when you hit or miss them it still counts the same. How can you say someone is a worse FT shooter when they made more?

      @Illhostility Sure. He still made a lot of FT. So missing late is different than missing earlier in the game? Last time I check a FT still counts the same.

      Which is the dumbest most braindead argument ever since Jordan wasn’t even a top 2 player on the dream team so wheres that argument at? Kobe is a scorer that’s all he does and can do LeBron is a playmaker AND a scorer he can do both when needed. Unlike Kobe is lebron is not selfish if he needs to defer then he’ll defer because you know that’s what teammates do. If LeBron had tried to take over the game and they lost then you guys change the narrative. I know Kobe fans are some of the dumbest most casual fans out there but cmon be smart than this clown lol

    • @MyronZhao
      @MyronZhao Year ago +1

      @JohnWick-qr4yc Kobe didn't pass in the clutch? You don't remember his clutch alley oop to Shaq? His pass to Ron Artest for the game winning 3 in the finals? His numerous passes to Derek Fisher for clutch buckets, Steve Blake, Gasol, Ariza, etc. You can argue Lebron's playmaking and scoring is equivalent to Kobe's playmaking and scoring, since they were both better at one aspect than the other. Let's not minimize the fact that these 2 guys can do both things.

    Kobe knew we paid thousands of dollars to see him play. He put on a show and went for the crazy scoring numbers, was supposed to be in the 3 point contest but got replaced due to injury, dunk contest champion, etc. Jordan was the same and as a fan, I appreciate that way more. There is a reason why the NBA viewership has tanked and it's because the players care way more about their stats and money vs what the fans want to see. The traveling and flopping for free throws has made the NBA unwatchable. There isn't a single player that really cares anymore.

Kobe is top 5 all time and he is definitely over LBJ. But MJ no no! 😂. Kobe lost 2 championships. This isn't one on one and even with that. I still couldn't give it to MJ. • @bullzeye179
      @bullzeye179 Year ago +1

      @jamessanders5020 dude... if I have to explain it to you means you simply dont watch basketball.... There are many NBA players who have Kobe as the GOAT. Lemme break it down for you.
      Kobe is top 5 in points.
      Kobe is top 3 in All NBA 1st team
      Kobe is top 2 in all NBA defensive 1st team
      Kobe is top 2 in all star appearances
      Kobe is top 3 in all NBA defenses
      Kobe is top 3 in most skilled
      Kobe has 5 Rings in 7 finals appearances
      Kobe has multiple Rings without another top 75 player on his team. Only Curry can say that.
      Kobe averaged 29 ppg playing alongside a prime SHAQ.
      So there is absolutely no way he should be left out the top 5. It's ok to have MJ over him. But besides MJ it's an argument with any other player. Even Kareem. Kobe is top 5 in so many NBA categories that its ridiculous to say hes borderline top ten smh. Most NBA players have MJ 1 A. And Kobe 1 B

    • @bullzeye179
      @bullzeye179 Year ago +1

      @jamessanders5020 if I have to explain it to you means you dont know basketball.
      Many NBA players have Kobe as their GOAT.
      Lemme break it down for you rookie.
      Kobe is top 5 in points
      Kobe is top 2 in all star appearances
      Kobe in 1st in all NBA 1st team defenses
      Kobe is top 2 in all NBA offenses
      Kobe is top 3 in total all NBA defensive selections
      Kobe is top 3 in playoff points
      Kobe is top 2 as the most skilled ever
      Kobe has multiple Rings without another all star or top 75 player on the team. Only steph curry can say that.
      Kobe averaged 29 ppg in the toughest era playing alongside a Prime Shaq. Period
      So with Kobe being top 5 in so many important statistical categories... its impossible to say he isnt at the very least in the top 5. Other than MJ. There is no one u can say is undoubtedly over Kobe Bryant. Many player have MJ 1A Kobe 1B

      It's the truth, Kobe first few years on the Lakers he's just a bench, not even 20ppg player in his rookie years. Shaq in those 3 championship is clearly the best player that time. When they formed superteam on Lakers and got beaten by Pistons in the finals, they I knew Kobe still far from being best player on his team. In last 2 championship Lakers is stacked up so hard that even Kobe cannot make his shots. Chucking up shots instead of passing clearly he's blessed with roster championship

    3:52 - “That’s where you let emotions get into the mix.”
    When you’re talking about the GOAT, emotion should be part of it. Greatness isn’t just stats-it’s inspiration, impact, and legacy on a global scale.
    Kobe won 5 championships, 2 Olympic golds, made 9 All-Defensive First Teams, passed MJ in total points, and inspired generations-arguably more than any player besides MJ himself.

Lebron has played with more top talent and while also being one of the greatest to ever play and still only had 4 rings…the same as Steph Curry even though Steph only played with Kevin Durant..all his other teammates was never a part of the all time 75th anniversary.
      Jordan had 2 players Scottie and Rodman

    It's not about the best player when talking about the greatest of all time. It's the greatest. Jesse Owen's is one of the greatest sprinters of all time yet ran only 10.3 second 100m. Average Olympic time is 10 seconds. It's about the feeling they give, the aura, what they stand for and represent. Ali isn't the best boxer to ever live but is by far the greatest. Pac wasn't the most technical or the most vibey rapper but he was more than that. He bred hope through struggle. Kobe represented a mentality that will long outlive him, a hunger for greatness with a cold killer approach to basketball. He is far greater than LeBron will ever be. It's not the BOAT debate, it's the GOAT debate.

      @nivek1660 AD, DWade, Kylie, Rondo,... all HOF players that lebron couldn't win without. Look at the Olympics. Kobe was the hero down the stretch. Then Curry. Sorry guys but lebron is a Robin. Not batman

      @jameslincoln75 He wasn’t the best player on 3 out of his 5 championship teams and there was no question who was MVP. If you wanna say individual player in a 1 vs 1 then Kobe might would’ve won but every nba metric statistically Lebron has the edge other than 5 to 4 rings

      @jameslincoln75lol and yet Lebron won finals mvp every time he won a championship- Kobe was finals mvp only 2/5 of his championships (40%). He was the Robin during the lakers 3peat since Shaq won finals mvp each time. So LeBron played with Wade, AD, etc- LeBron still won finals mvp each time. In addition, Kobe played with a top 10 player of all time in Shaq- something LeBron never did.

      Kobe beat more 50 win teams. Don’t matter how many game winners you have if it’s vs 30 win teams.

      Lebron has the most everything because of longevity, he's also has the most turnovers... so the amount doesn't matter. It's about percentages.

    Kobe vs Bron
    No time left at the line Kobe
    Last shot for the win Kobe

      If you're led by emotions, sure. By the numbers, LeBron hit more game winners than Kobe and hit them at a much higher percentage.

    I don’t believe any of them are starting a team and picking LeBron over Kobe. Nobody is doing that
