Fame does not equal success, which I'm learning more and more as I get older. Bands like WAND are miles above some of their mainstream contemporaries. But what does it matter? As long as they are making music and some of us are consuming it and trumpeting their name, we all win! It just means if you meet someone who likes WAND you automatically can vouch for them being an interesting person.
It’s no longer about how good your band is like it was in the 60s through 90s. Now it’s about how popular/rich you are. If you can afford the publicity you can shove whatever you want down everyone’s throats. Meanwhile there are bands out there like Wand who get about .003% of the attention they deserve.... it’s really sad.
One of the best bands I've seen live in over 30+ years of going to gigs. I love Corey and Evan is an outstanding drummer, mesmerising to watch, but the whole band are great.. A fantastic choice of songs, one of the best KEXP sessions yet!
Abysmal, crunching tone transforms seamlessly into something melodic and other-wordly. Not many can pull off what I've just heard, and even less in such an effortless and natural fashion. This video alone made me buy tickets to the only gig on the books in Chicago. Never before have I been sold so fast on a band. Impressive performance from these guys!
Nice, started off with my favorite track. Thanks for doing that for me, Wand! It's not even my birthday or nothing. I really appreciate that. It's the thought that counts, Wand. Thank you. Thank.
Saw them at a Swiss festival in the middle of the moutains 4 or 5 years ago. It was incredible. Must be the 15th time I watch this kexp session, I will never get tired of it
(@2:08 finally someone uses the rhythm circuit on a JM in the most productive way possible live) This band comes from the past and the future at the same time - they make me happy and sad at the same times well as apart ... sometimes changing those feelings so quickly in a moment that I fall over onto the bottom of the highest place in the unknown universe, only to slide all the way back down to the empyrean point before doing it all over again.
fucking epic, goosebump inducing opening song, oh my god. what a moment. I interviewed Cory about two months after this in Vancouver outside the Commodore. What a talented guy. Love this band.
i saw this 8 years ago. and the word "youser" stuck with me and i use it everyday. i even forgot over the years where i got it. i just know "an interview or something on youtube".... i'm so happy i came back to this after almost a decade hearing the word YOUSER :D hahahahahah my favourite man! i really hope i can perform on that baldwin or in iceland one day! SHIP ME IN!
Caught these guys live in London @ the Dome last month, and all I can say is now I appreciate them a lot more. This session is awesome but see them live if you can :-)
saw them live two years ago, Corey ripped that fucking amplifier with that screaming guitar! Quite a memorable night, sad to see the original formation is gone thou
why is this band so underratted
they need more press. i never heard of them. my buddy just sent me this video and i'm blown away.
not in my book, who cares about popular opinion! I grew out of the high school mindset whilst in high school, :)
Because people's choices in music suck! I'm glad they are underrated. Makes them even cooler, they will melt your fucking face!

This specific rendition of Fire On The Mountain is in my top three favorite songs in the past year, and I don’t even know what the other two are.
Nice, started off with my favorite track. Thanks for doing that for me, Wand! It's not even my birthday or nothing. I really appreciate that. It's the thought that counts, Wand. Thank you. Thank.

Wow, I just discovered these guys, I'm in love
I swear, all the bands in this particular LA scene have had that brown SG at some point. Watch King Tuff and Meatbodies' live sessions, youll see.

MatthewMemento both of those bands are connected by Cory
Flooded like tame impala and the members of pond with the epiphone Wilshire

He thought the band name Wand rhymed with words like hand or band, instead of words like swan.
These guys are tight live! The drummer is killing it!
shelly duvall on the keys!
cant tell if thats a compliment or an insult
I see it. But im terrible at faces.
A comedic observation? Whatever happened to those?
Seen wand at the Boston music rooms in London ...fantastic performance
