Ato showed up after his sprint career doing broadcasting; the rest is history. One of the best athletics commentator. Knowledgeable and always very focused. Always look forward for his commentaries BLESSED
Ato showed up in the commentating booth and Dwight Stones hasn't been heard from since. Ato revolutionized T&F commentary in the U.S. Before him, NBC's coverage of the Olympics was unwatchable. The commentators only researched the American athletes and were often caught flat-footed when "foreign" athletes won. Not only is Ato talented, but he is incredibly smart. No sport commentator is ever going to out-research Ato.
Great interview. Wow, didn't know Ato still had his strong Trini accent. We certainly don't hear it when he's commentating these big meets. Lol. I'm JAMAICAN Proud of you Sir.
I certainly hear his Trini accent and I'm Trini. Of course it isn't like when he's kicking it with the homeboy but it's definitely there. Your girl Sanya Richards-Ross is the yardie with the American accent. It's all good though I love them both. They're the best I've seen in decades.
As a Jamaican, I always had a healthy amount of respect for Ato. Big up yourself Ato. Much love! Also loved to see our fellow Caribbean athletes doing well like Richard Thompson, Churandy Martina, Debbie Ferguson et al.
@@Favouredandree Yes. He is originally from Curacao which is one of the Netherland Antilles islands in the Caribbean (aka the ABC islands of Aruba, Bonaire and Curacao) so he ran for the Netherlands.
Yes yes yes this man Ato Bolton is one of those sprinters that no one can say anythingbad about . He has being a factor when it comes to inspiring sprinters . He is now coaching a Jamaican Brianna Williams and she will be great as being a great sprinter himself with so much experience. Brianna therefore will gain from his knowledge .
These guys predicted the men's & women's 400-meter hurdle races PERFECTLY! To the T! (Tokyo Olympics, of course). Bravo!! Credit where it's due. That's serious track expertise.
Always loved Oto Bolden . One of my all time favorite 🤩 Olympians . Wished Bud Greenspan had done a segment with him. However very happy that he is such an informed , intelligent Analyst. Proud of you 👍 Ato .
Ato is half-Jamaican. His mom, Hope Boldon, is Jamaican. I met Ato at Penn Relays a few years and he was very gracious to me, and was fully engaging with & interacting with all those with whom he came in contact. He is a very knowledgeable and fair-minded analyst and perhaps the best in the business
This is great! I hope you all do interviews with Hasely Crawford, Don Quarrie, Alberto Quantorena, and some of the other athletes from the 70's, 80's, and maybe even before.
Great interview. I could listen for another hour. The 200m is so great and so deep you forgot Shaune Miller. Again, great interview to both of you greats.
Never knew until this interview that Ato obviously tones his native accent waaayy down when commentating in the booth. I would think that takes a very conscious effort.
I still remember that race in 1996 Atlanta, Ato was pissed off at Linford Christie. Glad Ato corrected himself and admitted Karsten Warholm would beat Rai Benjamin. That race was amazing.
Great,God will use any thing to draw you to your purpose. Our all of my young caribbean kids,we wants to be great in any sports. You alone will know when its what you want. Sometimes, parents cant see that, but YOU will know.🙏💯👍
As a Caribbean fan and a Trini, I am proud of Ato and all the other Caribbean champions past and present. I am sure that Jamaicans have "sports politics" issue but it seems that they have and still are much more focused on their athletics than us....especially in those 80s and 90s era in Trinidad, I saw champion material, who were the best we had in their age group by a mile ...and could have potentially been our Ato before , Ato came on the scene were cheated and frustrated because they came from a certain south club and influential persons apparently didnt see eye to eye with the coach..... was sad and ridiculous to witness it personally.
Shelly ann is very hungry and determined to and has the world lead and the tied with Elaine for the second fastest time in the year. What's you're point? Determination is all around. Who is actually the physically better athlete coupled with who can cope with the mental stress the best would win.
I love Elaine if she can get her head right, and shellyann injury. but if shellyann fit Elaine have no chance, win.elaine championship because shellyann toe was sick, shellyann still got medal, ask elaine.
@@sherwood9917 I'm a jamaican a fit elaine and a fit shellyann who will win be honest. Even with a sick toe shellyann give still give a medal, elaine always sick on the big stage.
The IOC actually got the schedule for the 200m changed before the games AT Johnson's request so he could pursue the 200M/400M double(i think the heats were close).....if that had not happened, it may have been very interesting between Fredericks and Johnson. And I doubt someone from Namibia or TT could ask for such a request and have it entertained.

This interview is so refreshing. An interviewer who ask the questions and let’s the interviewee just talk and explain.

He tries to speak without his accent on NBC. Here, he sounds really-Caribbean... he should use his natural voice on television.
Not sure if xenophobic Americans can handle that. He strikes a good balance of the two, I think.
