Jacob Brisby cut out the low frequencies on the high one n stereo separate it a lil if you want to, cut the highs on the low octave, careful saturation/distortion and compression
kenny the only thing is that when you play the 808 on a higher octave the sample speed increases, which causes some phase problems when played over the low one. That the problem i have when using this technique

maybe bounce the low one and then pitch it up an octave so it has the same waveform as the lower one...idk man haha, gonna look into it :)
