Comfort levels shot way up now that I have an armrest. Its was the most glaring omission in the entire interior for me, Plus the added storage is a great benefit.
How’s the stability, looks a bit janky when you put pressure on it. I’m super close to buying this as it’s on back order now, but want to make sure it’s a quality, stable piece. Thanks!
So, I'll be perfectly honest, you are never going to get the OEM level of stability or sureness. As this is still being attached to only a small footprint on top[ of the center console. If it was OEM you would have an entire plastic/molded tunnel housing the armrest and storage. With that in mind, you will get some movement, side to side, even I at first was deciding how I felt about it. But for those who wish to have an armrest and some additional storage, you can't go wrong here. It still made well and if a thoughtful design with functionality of cupholders and storage being thought of. There have been a. few people online who need the height lower that have spoken to better stability of the armrest, after cutting down the included mount to fit their size better.
@@CarQuicks Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I’ve read on the GR forums about the new low profile piece,I’ll make sure to order it. Also, SXTH element is active on the forums as well.
This product is terrible. Don’t buy it. The build quality is terrible. I hope a more reputable company with much more experience designs a better arm rest because sixth element is a rip off.
I bought this yesterday and tried to install it but I couldn’t stomach keeping this in my car. The build quality is absolutely terrible. It rattles shakes and wobbles way too much. Not to mention the whole thing is assembled with wood screws threaded directly into plastic. It’s really easy to strip these screws out. At the very least I would appreciate some nuts and bolts not wood screws. Whatever you do don’t buy this product. Just pray and hope another company makes something better. I would almost go as far to say don’t buy anything from sixth element. Their quality in general is just bad. The concept and design is good but the fit and finish of there products leave so much more to be desired.
I wouldn't jump off the ledge so quick and say ALL of SXTH Element products are of low quality. You would need to back that up with more product knowledge outside of the armrest. Which is not engineered by SXTH Element at all. Now there could be manufacturing changes, because mine doesn't wobble an inch and I've had it in the car for over 30,000 miles. Something could have changed. I do wish there were more options, but unfortunately this and maybe one other are all that I've seen.
@ this is the second sixth element product I’ve received with issues. The other product I got was the sixth element turbo inlet. I had to send my inlet back because the connection for the crank case hose was too large for me to connect my hose to the inlet. The oem hose is 5/8 and the fittings on the inlet pipe was larger than 7/8. With that being said I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with sixth element thus far.
made my day seeing this! ordered right away as I’m an armrest man myself!

Hahaha I’m glad I could help!!!!
I had a car with a tiny armrest when I was in high school, so I just kept a rolled up beach towel there.
Hahaha that works too and was about to be what I was going to do. Lol!
The added storage is very helpful, so that made me lean towards getting it.

Just wait. Toyota will probably have them next year on new GR and available for purchase. But, it should be a free recall-type thing.
