- This Spring, we celebrate composer Morten Lauridsen, National Medal of Arts recipient and distinguished professor of Composition at USC Thornton, in a weekly video series. { music.usc.edu/mortenlauridsen }
I can watch his interviews all day, especially the one based on "O Magnum Mysterium..."
Yes!! And to sing the O Magnum Mysterium (low bass): what a challenge; what a joy!!
@@garywait3231 I was bass 2 for my choir when we sang that piece
Mr. Lauridsen you have enriched my life with your music, thank you.
I will never forget the moment where Dirait -on swept me off my feet. The depth of emotion it still inspires is rare.
The song is unpretentious, which is amazing for a university composition professor… and simply beautiful.
I set that Neruda poem as a song for my wonderful Chilean partner, when I knew we were committing to each other. We then moved on to spend part of our year in Chile so have a lasting association with his land. Amazing Mr Lauridsen used that. I wasn't expecting it!
What poem is it?
