THE best concert I ever attended was a Brubeck concert in Point Arena, CA waaaay back when one of Dave's sons moved there to get away from the city. Soon after his move to Pt. Arena, Geo. Bush was elected president and that Brubeck son fled to Canada because of the political state in the U.S. While his son still lived in Pt. Arena the Brubeck family played a family concert at our little renovated theater: Dave and all his sons, playing on the same stage. They even tuned the piano for Dave! (LOL!! Joking.) The cost was only $50. The program had a historical picture of a much younger Dave Brubeck roping a calf from his horse in Ione, CA, where he was raised, not too far from Sacramento. Dave grew up a cowboy. That was a night I'll never forget, and so thankful that the Brubeck's came to Point Arena to play for us before moving to Canada. What a decent man that Dave Brubeck was...
