  • Had to head out toward Wales to scout a route for the Drifter Rally. Fairly boring ride TBH, but here is some footage anyway :)

Take it issues with the bike resolved? "You make me feel like dancing, gonna dance the night away!" Get that out your head for the day. ;-)

haha!! Thanks for the tune. Actually the issues are ongoing, but the bike is riding fine. I did a little DIY on the cam chain tensioner and its working now, the new one is at Yamaha and ready to roll.

    Mate.
Might be doing this trip in July. We hope so... Two up, London to Wales.
I hear the Po-Po hate Motorcyclists out that way, with a Passion.
You seemed not to have that issue though :-)

Once you've got over the first 2.5 - 3 hours of motorway boredom you're right there on the borders! I always find it closer than i think. That route (M4, A419, A417, M5) gives a little respite from the constant motorway drone. Cant remember seeing any police actually, but then i wasn't looking behind ;)

      crotchrocket
      Yes. I noticed :-)
But, on the Bank holiday, my stupid/shite Triumph stock mirrors (can't see shite behind) and I had a Cop pull over and give us the 3rd degree and he was a real Dudley Doright. I BS'd my way outta that one but I wasn't happy.
Everyone tells me that Wales is 10 times worse and we are (Hopefully) going there. BUT, it's going to be in the high Season!!
I said it before mate. Bike sounds amazing :-)

Blahdeblah52 I had the same issue with the stock MT mirrors. You wouldn't think it, but the bar end mirrors are 100 times better!! Had a thrash into the Brecon Beacons last summer on the GSX650F and don't recall seeing the police then. Must just be lucky :)

    • @XXXDeadhead

Do the bar end mirrors mess up filtering?

    • @crotchrocket3000
      @crotchrocket3000  10 лет назад

XXXDeadhead Not really for me no. I hit the stock mirrors a few times and never hit these ones. They tend to be just over car mirror and just under van ones!

Hello Crotchrocket, I've watched most of your videos and all of the ones for your new MT09. I am fascinated and hooked with this bike I am itching to go sit on one, all I'd like your advice on is as an experienced rider yourself would you advise me a young new rider (had my honda cbf 125 for 1 year, no close calls or accidents) to buy this bike as an upgrade for a commuter and weekend ride? I believe a bike will behave how the rider wants it to, if you ride fast you are more at risk of a crash or coming off, I've rode in most weather conditions besides snow of course (I'm not an idiot) so I'd like to think I know what I'm doing. Please tell me your thoughts on this bike, of course it's a massive leap from a 125 but I picked up riding very fast from my CBT so I'd appreciate your thoughts on this thanks.

Hey Matt, how old are you? Im a big believer in working your way up on bikes. Personally i did 125 - 400 - 600 - 850. The 125 and the MT-09 are a million miles apart from each other, hell the MT-09 is a massive step up from my GSX650F!!. The throttle is brutal and no matter what some people say, its snatchy! Ive accelerated by accident in the past, and if your not super smooth at lower speeds you may end up going down the road on your ass! It will wheelie off the throttle in the first 3 gears and its impossible to ride it sedately, it really brings out your hooligan side!! That said, its a dream to ride in B mode but still very powerful…….. and no one ever stays in B mode when there is A mode to choose!! SO to be honest, i guess it depends on you….lol can you be strict enough with yourself not to rag it at every opportunity and get used to the big leap between bikes before giving the beans ??? I couldn't haha !

crotchrocket I'm 21 about to turn 22, I'm just sick of my hair dryer of a 125. People never hear me coming unless the engine is red lining which it never does unless I'm in first gear, yes it's amazing for fuel I average 280 miles with the 3 gallon tank and that's not even riding it nicely. I think I'll start by seeing what i need to do next regards to my license and bigger bikes. To be honest I think I'd keep it in B mode is it? The easier going one anyways haha. But I've always wanted a naked street fighter looking bike and I saw this and I just had to have it. If I came home on an MT09 one day if the bike didn't kill me I'm sure the girlfriend would haha... anyways thank you for your reply I'll have to start saving the pennies i guess!

Definitely listen to CR, here, though, also, if u truly think U can handle this Bike...get it !!!
A couple points though...sit and test ride...it wasn't comfortable for me, and I may be biased ;)
here, though, I would recommend a Ducati Monster 750 (like mine :),
take ur time riding what u have & look for a used one in good shape
...learn the snatchy throttle (they both have) and then
Graduate up to this Yamaha...if the Monster doesn't keep ya in the Ducati Family !!!
      ;)
      SpeedSafe ;)

So you'd quite comfortably tour on the MT-09?

    • @crotchrocket3000
      @crotchrocket3000  10 лет назад

Yeah definitely!! Its pretty tiring on the Motorway, but i was on it 9am - 6pm doing a & B roads that saturday and was absolutely fine. I should think a decent screen would sort out the motorway issue.

I just watch your vids to see how long it takes me to realise where you are.
    Yak, that toilet!
Lets enjoy the view while I stroke your beard.
    You're such a hoon!
Andi (our swiss friend) was asking about your fancy gear changy thing and why you have it. Guess what Angry said!
You should have wheelied past that bike screaming, "sucks to be you!" Of course not.
Can I look at your rock?
