- Opie, Anthony, and Jimmy discuss Robbie Knievel's career. They are unimpressed with his jumps, and believe he is famous only because he is Evel Knievel's son. They watch some videos. Later they check out a motorcycle stunt by Robbie Maddison, which does impress them. Ted the Daredevil makes an appearance, and Fonzie's daredevil antics on Happy Days are also discussed.
I used to be Robbie's neighbor. We'd wave to each other while mowing our respective lawns. He was always nice to me, however he was constantly in debt and was a notorious drunk. He got a gig at a local casino just to pay the gambling debt he had there. All in all, a nice guy in private to me, but plagued by his demons.....like most of us.
He had the deck stacked against him from day one thanks to ol' Cape Dad

I feel like most of the negative comments/dislikes must be people who can’t distinguish between Evel and Robbie Knievel. Because I cannot believe that anyone, ever, anywhere, is or has ever been passionate about the career and reputation of Robbie Knievel.

Yeah. I grew up watching Evil. The suspense was unnerving. And like Ant said it was on a block with zero suspension. You can watch any X Games event and these kids are out performing Robbie.
JJH Definitely way more impressive, but I doubt Ant knew that he had specially made bikes that were made out of aluminum and Fiberglass and whatnot so it only weighed 300 lbs. That’s why it bounced all over the place

Evel Knivel believed in always keeping his word, so even if he wasn't sure he could make the jump, he'd do it anyway because he said he would.

It just feels phony and disingenuous. Sure, I wouldn’t have the guts to do the jumps. However when you have motorcross guys doing what they do, this guy seems like a chump.
Compared to an intermediate SoCal MX rider, Robbie is more like a novice as far as skill goes. Yea, he can just shit, just like Seth Enslow could too, but unlike Seth, the guy is just a total barney.

It's not easy, but Robbie Kenevil is the least impressive televisized motorcycle event of the 2000s. AMA pros do bigger triples every weekend in MX, on dirt tracks that are constantly changing surrounded by other racers. Hell most Supercross finish line jumps are more impressive the RK and they do it on 250s.
Robbie fails as a famous daredevil where Evel succeeded, exactly because he succeeds at daredevil stunts where Evel failed. Evel didn't become mega-famous for successfully landing jumps, quite the opposite.

They obviously did. You don't do jumps like that without figuring out if it's possible first.
Possible yes, successful no. If you've ever seen Evel's documentaries when explain most unsuccessful jumps, you'd be surprised how much planning did not go into his jumps. He literally used the eye test on many jumps. Which is why he got fucked up so many times
