Everything is real. In coastal Karnataka, Guliga is worshipped in the same way shown in this movie. Lord Guliga is a demigod and protector of the people and land in his area.
@@imlucifer5040Not wrong to call a demi god since demigods are usually ones who are in between gods and humans and often their offspring and many of the theyyam deties are actually dead humans or gods manifested through humans like pottan theyyam etc. So technically not wrong.
this is real where I come from. its beyond any radical explanation. I was not a believer. I was even an atheist. but.......I don't know. I can't explain it. this movie can't and I'm even shaking as I type this but you have to experience this yourself. I can't say anything more. but THIS IS REAL
The acting of Rishabh was unparralel, the people in the theatre we just amazed and awestruck during the climax, everyone was silent, I,myself said a small prayer after leaving the theatre. During the last dance of Bhootha Kola, Lord Panjurli, points through his hand gestures that entire village is his, villagers are like his children and he is handing over the responsibility of their protection to the DFO.

* Long comment alert.. * Lot of detailing in this movie which you might miss.. Just wanted to share some.. 1) the kid in start winks at the girl nd she smiles, its not shown simply.. Its to show they knew each other since childhood.. 2) The names of certain characters connected with their behavior or stuff they do.. Like Shiva has a treehouse named Kailasa which is actually like the home of Lord Shiva.. His friend named Bulla, who's always with him doesn't hesitate to come forward nd protect him during any fight, is a reference to Nandi (the Bull god) who is actually the protector of Lord Shiva.. 3) The scenes where Shiva misbehaves are the nights he gets those nightmares coz its trying to remind/show him his true purpose but after seeing his father disappear, he's grown to be too scared of it which is why he always ran away from it.. That's why in the climax he finally tries to understand why it happens to him nd then finds the purpose of it.. 4) The subtle depiction of caste/class system where landlord sits on a chair nd villagers on the ground or the fact that villagers are not allowed to step inside landlord's house, the landlord washes his hands after touching shiva and even sprinkles holy water in his house after shiva had entered his house.. 5) There's only a certain family of ppl that can perform the kola rituals which passes on generation after generation, not anyone can perform it.. (Even Rishab Shetty actually took permission from the demigod Panjurli to play this character nd wear the demigod costume) 6) Also the fireworks are handled by a muslim coz mostly in costal regions its the muslims who make the fireworks.. 7) Panjurli (the protector of the land) is painted in yellow nd guliga (the protector of the boundaries or the gatekeeper) is painted in black which is why he falls on a sort of black soil in the climax 8) the sword at the end used to kill the landlord was the same sword which the king sacrifices in the start of the movie.. even till date I've heard nd seen this happen that through such demigods, a lot of old weapons, god statues, many antiques have been unearthed at the most random places nd when researched about them have dated back to centuries ago..

" Khetrapal" means protector or guardian , it's not revenge but establishing justice through righteousness that's what "dharma" is. The one you saw fight is the demigod Guliga the kshetrapaal. Guliga' birth is really interesting, once Goddess Mata Parvati found a stone in burnt ashes of "dhuna" and gave it to God Shiva and Shiva strike the rock on the earth and thus Guliga was born, due to born of the ashes Guliga was hungry every time and cursed to be born from stomach of a snake been his mother, by tearing his mother stomach killing her instantly. Panjurli Deavat and Guliga had battled that shook the world and by the blessing of God's the battle was stopped and the Gods made Guliga to be the kshetrapaal to Panjurli devata.
In the last scene, one of the Demi god meets his father in the forest.. its an emotional blast using eyes and facial expressions to show emotions (rasa) in Indian tradition.
