In family Kalanota's house three generations of Roma show the known search for identity: Granny Ilonka is still present in Roma tradition, her daughter Aska on the other hand refuses it absolutely. Little Manusha stands in between. When her Granny dies, Manusha starts looking for her unknown grandfather and thereby reconciles her family with its roots

Der Film erzählt die Geschichte des Roma-Mädchens Manusha, das als Außenseiterin von
den Mitschülern nicht akzeptiert wird und es auch nicht leicht hat, mit ihrer familiären
Situation zurechtzukommen. Nach wechselhaften Erlebnissen mit ihren Eltern und
abenteuerlichen Begegnungen mit der Welt der verstorbenen Großmutter kommt sie zu
dem Ergebnis: Sei wer du bist, und lebe es!
