Interesting. I'm a WordPress developer using visual builders and learning html and CSS on the fly to hopefully problem solve issues. I know it's probably not the best route but visual builders are certainly the fastest way to get up and running. Purists would maybe argue for bloated code but builder are getting better OXYGEN a prime example. Would be interesting to know if purist coders start with blank html and css style sheets?
builders will always have idiosyncrasies that take away design power power from designers. to be a true creative designer you must code in raw format. otherwise the builder will influence your design.

WordPress is great. I have many websites that use it. it is a solution for specific circumstances. but if you want a bespoke solution....you will need to develop from first principles. technologies are still highly relevant.
