In my case, it wasn't always opera (rarely, in fact), but rather rock and metal music, but still.. While this may be an odd suggestion, I'm going to have you take a look at a song by the band Savatage, called "St. Patricks". If you can find a video with the lyrics on it, even better. It's a very profoundly powerful song for rock music.
