They're herbivores but they have a high kill count. They will eat other animals if they get near them. In fact, hippos have on record, killed more humans than sharks do, per year. Herbivore doesn't mean they aren't deadly or they can't eat meat. They just don't primarily do so
If you know how aggressive hippos are, this is definitely just a death sentence in disguise.
