Chadwick has 11 greenhouses in Powhatan County, Virginia and two retail stores in Richmond. An on this night, he was the speaker at our Mid-Lakes Orchid Society. He talks about Cattleyas orchids, from the origins to the golden age of corsages, to hybridizations to how he grows them. A night full of fun and learning.

Awesome video! This guy is a legend! So many beautiful crosses and I totally agree with what he says about keeping cattleya species with their traits as found in the wild. Truly learned so much from this! Awesome presentation!

Thank you for sharing the interesting histories of cattelya! I cannot belive they used to cut cattleya flowers to decorate in the past! Mustve been so expensive to wear them every event. Also his cattleya hybrid are surprisingly cheap!😊

When I first started in orchids, I had just graduated college in 1973 and I bought $5 cattleya plants from 2 commercial orchid growers that were going out of business. They would be in 10 inch pots and over growing the edges. Unfortunately I had no idea what I was doing and over the next few years I lost them all. It was about 6 years later I met Murray DeFuente (a orchid grower) who taught me how to grow successfully. Haven't stopped since. My collection has increased and decreases over the years, but I always have a few.

Vicky where you buy that book for cattleya? I want to know coz I have 26 pcs. Different. Catleya I want to read how to take care.

Hi, Francisco. The books are available in Amazon. Also, check Chadwick Orchids online. What we highly suggest is going to the American Orchid Society Website and looking up cattleya care. That would be your very best source of information on how to grow and care for orchids. Thanks so much for watching and reaching out 🤗🤗
