he has the most aesthetically pleasure technique imo. forehand, backhand, and serve it all looks fluid, natural, and powerful. the idea that comes to mind is that of a circle. I feel like everything he does traces out perfect circles and smooth curves through the air.
yeah, he's got as much talent as anyone, (seriously) but there have been multiple matches where he is just "off". Off in a way that you never see out of a Djokovic or Nadal. Where he mis-hits the ball a couple times a game.
Only one I think I'd disagree with there is his serve. It can go very off, and his ball toss can end up allover the place, with some awful double faults. Also, one thing I think Shapovalov is a reminder of is that there are two types of players. Great stroke players and great match players. Shapovalov is a great stroke player - he isn't yet a great match player.
I believe because he always wants Evey shot, every point to be perfect, he can struggle greatly when his opponent cam take that away from him consistently. He isn't a tanker like kyrgios tho.
Overlooked by his tough end to the season, I think shapo had a great year. He steadily improved and beat some big players. He should definitely break top 10 again next year as long as youzhny keeps coaching him well!
I agreed. He has a chance to reach no. 10 while only 2 tour's left and he needed only 50 points but he kept falling in the first round. These incidents I think it shouldn't happen.
@@smartguy9425 he was tired at the end. He over played his physical strength that’s why. He will have some good results at the beginning of next season you’ll see.
Miss watching you play, haven't been able to in awhile, great to see these highlights...keep trusting, playing like you can & loving life dear young bro😊🤗🙏💞😇Peace be with you, I'm praying in thanksgiving for you🙏❤+
@@kommentierer2707 True, I keep forgetting that he is 27 already. But he still has many years at the top in him, and is the most likely one-hander to reach the number one spot next.
It’s always a big pleasure, Stefan Edberg would say "a wonder for the eyes", to see him play! His one-handed backhand, his resolutely offensive temperament, are extremely seductive! I wish him all the best for the next season!
2020 was by far the best year on ATP tour for Shapo. Had some tough losses. But played very well, less errors more mesmerising tennis. Hope 2021 will be a breakthrough year for him.
I really think that he has the potential to be in the top 5. His game is relentless. Just a few tweaks here and there and he can really be there in no time. All the best to him!
He had a spectacular 2 months after the pause disappointing finish to the year though looked like a legit top 10 player for the first time for a little while if he could ever find consistency he would be a future GS winner for sure he makes me nervous though I want to have confidence that he will beat all players below the top 30 9 times out of 10 but sometimes he just has stretches where he is tough to watch and can’t manage to win a game for a month straight
so ur telling me that this insane talent and beautiful technique only has completed 1 title wow can't wait till shapo is at his peak hw will win everything
Sadly I'm not sure. We've seen players like him over the years (Henri Leconte springs to mind, a similarly flashy left hander and also Hana Mandlikova in the women's game). Artistic players like Shapovalov, Leconte and Mandlikova are too reliant on mood and timing. When Shapovalov is not quite on form, his game can be awful, and he has no margin for error or plan B. As a result, he has some terrible losses. He'd need to change his game to add more margin for error, and his mentality, if he wants the consistency to become number 1.
He has all the measurements, great movement, great shots, immense talent, he just needs to work on the mental part and his shot selection. If he is able to do that he'll become Number 1.🙏
I like very much the Shapo's tennis, weird in therir movements running to the sides, but agressive. He finished the year very poor in results... I hope he can play a great Australian open
Shapovalov is going to win a Grand Slam in the near future. Btw, I uploaded a video of people who will make the ATP Finals in 2025, if you want to watch it! Just for fun.

Hoping he has a good season in 2021. Always enjoy watching his style of tennis!
Maybe masters 1000?
win a masters 1000

A lefty with a one-handed backhand that's actually a high level weapon; the rarest of pros.
Looks like it comes in handy alot

key word, yet.
he's younger than most on the tour, he has the time to grow

plays a lot like a younger federer, very offensive, but sometimes inconsistent. but he has a lovely backhand
Exactly!
Watch this
Looks a lot like Shapovalov

Shapo backhand is astonishing. Every winner is a beauty. 🔥👌

Shapovalov,Tsitsipas and Musetti...
The future of the one-handed backhand is in good hands🙏
Thiems backhand isn't as asthetically pleasing, but I think he deserves a spot in that list as well. ;D

His strokes are so smooth. Great year for Denis
When he's on form they are. When he's not on form, which seems to happen quite a bit, he can spray the ball allover the place.
Those one-handed back hand bullets though 🔥🔥
LOVE the "Snap" backhand!
so beautiful to watch - so aesthetic!
Beautiful backhand 👍👍👍

Nice shots
4:33 best point in the highlight reel
With more consistency and playing his best he can be the beat the best
Sadly, he can also lose to the worst. He's just not a percentage player at all.
so ur telling me that this insane talent and beautiful technique only has completed 1 title wow can't wait till shapo is at his peak hw will win everything
That's the problem - you can hit the most beautiful shots, but if they're then followed by 10 errors, you're not going to win anything.
@@zeddeka yup my thoughts exactly he needs control more than anything than he will for sure win majors
Shapovalov normal reel : ball out or in the net
He's my pick to be the next number 1. So much easy power and raw talent.

Monfils syndrome, always loosing the matches in highlight clip.

Play nice and always lose!
this kid will never win a slam, basically monfils in white 10 years ago. admittedly he does not suck as much at tennis as he does at rapping
He has the talent and the strengh juste like Monfils but he is much more ofensive. Monfils was in the top10, he'll be top3 very soon.
