Well for me back in the day Andy my rod was a Zziplex Federation for match fishing but struggled with heavy weed in the Solent then a Pro Am with a bullet butt 👌🏻😘 (a bit little for your style I think?) oh and my first ever Zippy 2500LM for flatties and bass. Recently treated myself to a M4GT, getting used to the slim butt section with my farmers hands😂
Andy sea fishing is a hobby for me , teaching golf is my living . I have 2 zziplex m4 gt rods because I fish clear ground in Suffolk so I can use them for everything . But golf clubs I've got , 10 sets of blades , 10 sets of mb s , 10 sets of wedges , 20 putters . So you having rods for different kinds of fishing for where you live is brilliant. Yes could you mix the t900 and t1000 s up and have a brilliant rod and yes you could get away with about 6 reels , BUT it's what you love , we work hard enough for our money and the government take most of it so bloody enjoy every bit of gear you've got , but don't tell the Mrs lol lol Love the channel bud 👍
Andy just wait a while mate because century have a new rod coming out and I believe it's a T1000 with a Sgt glass tip. I watched you interchanging the rods a few weeks ago and laughed because I know what's just around the corner for release from century. I'm not sure 8f it will be labeled as T1000 SGT so don't quote me on that but Mr pye said its absolutely beautiful and he's been testing the prototypes for ages so you know if Gary's testing and designing them we are in for a stunning rod 👍
I've just the century big Danny and the 16ft greys triplex for the last 18 /20 year. Only recently bought a akios creed what I haven't used yet. Them 2 old rods I use are at each end of the fishing scale. One is for the real rough ground ie north Yorkshire north east and east Scotland. The other is fantastic bite detection and help pulling fish up cliffs lol. Great video mate
Been fishing since 1995 with my firebird combo 😂 and my favourite rods were, tip tornado GP, appollo mk1, kompressor sport and my old nemesis diabolo... In 2024 I'm still using the kompressor, and an M4gt for the heavy stuff and my Century Nick Buss carp/pike rods for the light stuff.. I'd have a massive collection if I had room ❤❤❤
I have 2x graphex sports and 2 x AFAW match pro2 The Century sports are heavy ground stuff, and so light to handle given the power. Remarkable. The AFAW 's are sublime/ brilliant for anything below hard ground. P.S. also have my dad's Abu Atlantic 484 ( 2-9 oz!) and Seastreak multiplier, both from 1960's. Still do130+yds in the field. My back to the future moment :)
Dymic lt14 I bought in early 2000 and still own them…..but sadly my eliminators are my go to’s…..but the first zippy I ever layed eyes on in the 90’s was the Pendleteque I was probably 13…I found one earlier this year. I’ll probably never use it, but it’s the memory it brings every time I look at it
My all time favourite 3 rods. Century vectra match, Conoflex detonator and zziplex quattro sport. I now use the vectra , Profile gt, kompressor ss and t800
Got my afaw match pros t900’s. Afaw tournament Grand Prix, komoressor ss and ttsm ld’s I’m trying not to add to them but they cover everything I need from the bc and s west to past Portland. Been a few rids I regret letting go but it keeps the peace at times 😅
Andy get your hands on a zziplex Dynamic LT bullet with carbon tip Your love them for raying all rounder properly sit between the SU and the HST . If your back on the Isle of Wight have a go on one
My first beach rod was a Daiwa Moonraker Fast Tip, fibreglass. Bought from Malcolm Gilbert who started Ammo when he had a shop in St. Ives. It must have been 1979, I think i paid just under £25. Back then that was all I had and couldnt afford bait for a week. I think i was 13 then. I have tip tornadoes now, not graphex ones.
Alright andy I heard you mention you had the compressor ss I've been told and advised that there very good for the proper rough ground fishing thick kelp and heavy rock what was your opinion on those I noticed there rated to 7 Oz I didn't really like that and how did the rings hold up
I have a Century TTR, Anyfield Anywhere Tournament 14ft, Zulcron XT435gt and a Zulcron XGT14 ( XGT14 i was lucky enough to win on their youtbe chanel) that covers all of my fishing here in Northumberland. What happened to the Zulcrons you had Andy ?
For the money i cant get over the century fireblade gt it is an unbelievable weapon to add to your arsenal and after using the Kompressor SS over the years in rough ground i find i get more out of it compared i have to disagree about the control i feel asif i get more with the glass tips, you cant have too many fishing rods though
what do you think of the greys range ? i own a pair of MK1 Greys Syntras? and i used anyfish anywhere mk1 beach and a six and bait mk1 for my first rods :)
Hi Andy watched your video on zzipplex rods, was looking for your opinion on the zzipplex GS match rod bought it after zzipplex factory shut down, obviously century took over, bought it a collector item bh due to arthritis rod seems wasted on it,was wondering your opinion on the rod,I'm a hoarder of vintage Abu 484, got amorphous whisker 122 and 126, also daiwa high performance rods, got conoflex cod 6 and cod 5 very ancient lol, I'm not lover of continental rods, wondering to get fixed spool to use on GS zzipplex match or use Abu 6500 , watching your video lm thinking rods wasted on us, will be fishing Thames Gravesend and occasional Kent coast trip to Ramsgate .look for your views m8
Diawa tournament diawa kenzaki sonik sk3 afaw 4nbait diawa pk , shakespeare bass rod , plus spinning and float rods plus 8 boat rods love em all use em all
Owned far too many rods to list , all depends on what your fishing for , often we go massively over gunned for most fish , had fish of 40lbs on the zulcron xgt14 But had my pb undulate on a profile evo 🤷♂️ Fav rod that I should never have sold is my lt14 but we all chase something better when often it isn’t there . Way I look at it we work hard and if we didn’t spend money on rods and reels we’d only waste it 🤷♂️😂
XGT14s for all clean to mixed ground. They dont flinch even casting 7oz with bait, they are in my opinion better than T900 Century tip tornados graphex sports for my rough ground or want to cast bigger baits
@leerutherford506 the blank is something else. Recovery on them is unbelievable. I changed the eyes and fittings on them, which I thought were the only things that left them down. All the new zulcron rods have better eyes and fittings now
Sold my ttgs in favour of the xgt14s and glad I did The graphex sport is an excellent rod and I liked it more than the t900 but I just couldn’t get the best from it ( due to my ability ) The xgt is more user friendly and I’ve used it for huss over broken ground and even landed my pb tope on it last year of 40lbs , I’ve rebuilt it myself to upgrade the rings from the original, for me and my ability they are perfect .
Very informative as always, but for a full carbon tip Kompressor SS's will take some beating. MU427's too thick a butt section for a short arse like me to get the power put of it. Get yourself on a pair of Fireblade GT's for the lighter work. Where does the Zziplex Federation fit in all this?. Great rod for lighter work.
Andy all you need is a but that will accept a mix of tips , if your into century t 1000 and a 900 tip or a 900 carbon mix & glass . But I guess century wouldn't do this as its not the right path for the business as it would cost them in long term I guess. 🤷♂️🏴
Andy why don't u not speak to century and ask them to build a rod to u describe to century of the rod..andy and see if thy build u one..from daren in Scotland
