You don’t need to remove the front seat. Lift the release handle and slide a screw driver into the hole in the side trim (about 6 inches behind the handle. ) This locks it in the open position 👍
good point, that's indeed mentioned and pictured in the manual, but do you know how to remove the limiters? For some reason my bench stopps 20-30cm short of the end of the rail and won't move forward anymore. I have removed the cups, and I can see a long, black, plastic part, but it's secured with a square-head screw, that I have no idea how to remove. It's in both of the rails, although slightly different place.
Thanks for posting this, not sure I'll ever need to take them out but at least I know it is possible now. With a couple of small changes VW could have made this far easier and added to the capabilities/options for the end user.
You don’t need to remove the front seat, a metal pin to hold the handle it will do. Also to remove the plastic caps, please put the screwdriver in the rails and lift it, now you ruining the plastic, putting your screwdriver on the wrong side
Thanks for posting this! I see the drawer under the seat was already removed - presumably this was to reduce the weight of the seat How does the drawer come out?
For goodness sake, much here is wrong. Please everyone don’t think this is the correct way. The wood idea is good but mucking about with the driver’s seat is completely unnecessary.
I’ve never seen anyone make California ocean so dirty. Besides, every step you take to remove this rear seat is completely wrong, you don’t need to remove the front seat.

Very useful! I couldn't find instructions for this anywhere. Didn't realise you had to remove those bolts.
You dont need to remove bolts on front seat rear seat lift enough to clear front runners

Well done that man
Nice work!
Hi, my rear seat won’t slide forward or backwards, any ideas?
There might be screws in the track. Have a good look.

i did that a while back to give more room under seat. I recall taking some screws out inside.
