Solo traveling to get Milkyway shots at night is really scary lol. But I do it a lot and kinda get used to. But I still prefer to go with a group of people. It's much safer. But like you said, solo trips are easier to make and more freedom. With group of people, everyone has their own schedules and preferences. It's hard to make a plan haha
One of the best (and, in my opinion, safest) places to do astro is Madeira, a Portuguese island in the Atlantic. My only company was herds of cows, but there are no dangerous animals or critters, extremely low crime, and it's very easy to take great shots without going near the big drop offs.

I think traveling solo is best most times. Definitely not all times. 🤙
