    I love the concept of being a disciple or apprentice of Rabbi Jesus. It’s a way of life, a lifestyle, a daily practice etc.

    Love the candor & humility that following Jesus brings about in those who love Him,who desire to listen, listen to Him, and who want to make their food the will of God. Thank you for edifying & encouraging us, especially through the reminder that God honors the seeking of him. Thanks for your additional reminder that we, like the disciple whom Jesus loved, are invited to same head-on-his-bosom relationship which is knowing and being comfortable in and living out the understanding of who we are in light of who Jesus is.

    My biggest problems with the contemporary evangelical church is that it is focusing on making converts instead of disciples and is predominantly teaching what to believe without much emphasis on training followers to integrate those convictions into their conduct and character. More information might help you change your mind but only truth, believed and lived out in obedience, will transform your life. I cannot wait to read the book. Disciples embraced the lessons of the rabbi. They also emulated and engaged in the lifestyle of their teacher.

      Kind of trapping or tricking them- baddem & taggem. But we meant well- just enthusiastic & not real mature.

    Such an interesting conversation. I think about when Paul tells the Corinthians to follow him as he follows Christ is that idea of a discipleship/ mentorship/ etc. The idea that someone who has been faithfully following Jesus is a good person to follow after on your own journey. I mean, isn’t that how it kinda works? You begin to look like Christ to others who haven’t journeyed yet, so you help them along. Love the convo though!

    This is fascinating, and although bottom-line (i think i have this right) focused on walking in the way of Jesus, this is very wide-ranging everything from bible study, to prayer, to "discipleship, to evangelicalism, spiritual formation, living in community, etc. Wonderful conversation - much to ponder here!!! Thanks for the candor, and yes, humility!

    Practice...the way! Bless you, brothers.
    Thank you so much!
    I spent 3 years to get the word discipleship and the concept a part of the church spectrum of activities. My church is activities driven. So, l had to start where they were. The entire denomination runs like that.
    Just to simply understand that discipleship is what we are commissioned to do, was hard to get into the understanding of leadership.

    Be 'the Way' and there is no need to 'practice'!;
    Anyone can be 'Saved/Enlightened'!;
    "Born again" into the state of Unconditional Love = Salvation = Enlightenment = Heaven = Immortality
    "Heaven is at hand!" - Jesus
    Here! Now!
    Anything else is Hell!
    Unconditional Love is ALWAYS Known by It's Unconditional Virtues;
    Compassion, Empathy, Sympathy, Gratitude, Humility, Charity (Charity is never taking more than your share of anything, ever!), Honesty, Happiness, Faith...
    ALWAYS!
    "I and the Father are One!"
    "As I Am so can you be!"
    "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing." -John 15:5
    One with Christ = One with God!
    "What a man loves, he is. If he loves a stone he is that stone, if he loves a person he is that person, if he loves God - nay, I durst not say more; were I to say, he is God, he might stone me. I do but teach you the scriptures." - Meister Eckhart
    Heaven, Here! Now!
    It is the LIFE of the truly Saved displaying the Virtues of Unconditional Love that is the gospel, the Light in the darkness!

    Sadly, American Protestants & evangelicals must learn anew the ways of the early Church. Most importantly we should also learn the mindset of those who followed The Way. This isn’t a new way of thinking. It’s an ancient way of thinking we must return to.
