Damn, wish I’ve could’ve been there. Also, quite a list performing after them. Airdash and Stone from Finland. Then Suicidal Tendencies, D.A.D, and Anthrax. Though this all might’ve been too much for 10 year old me.
Yes... Kotipelto, in the live performances, was always out of tune. A beautiful and difficult voice in the studio that Kotipelto was unable to sing on stage, night after night. Hence, the constant loss of tone, detunements and vocal errors. Tolkki's voice was much more powerful, more personal, strident, sharp, and definitely more suited to Stratovarius. A pity because, I always liked Tolkki's voice much more, but it was impossible for him to play and sing at the same time, as Tolkki's new compositions became more and more complicated. A difficult task to combine. Really, I don't know how the songs of Episode, Visions and the rest of later albums would have sounded with Tolkki on vocals. An old friend of mine was a friend of Tero Tolkki. Tero recorded him on cassette some demos of songs that would end up being for Fourth Dimension album, with Tolkki on vocals. They include the songs: Distant Skies, Lord of the Wasteland, Against the Wind (formerly known as Under the Sun and with certain changes in the lyrics), Winter and We Hold the Key (named The Key of Mankind). I still have the tape, it's not in good conditions now but, some years ago it was digitalized. Obviously, due to legal problems, I can't and shouldn't reproduce them publicly, it would be a big problem for me... I can assure, what Fourth Dimension album with Tolkki on vocals would have sounded better.
@@EresiA77 wow youre really passionate about his band :) But in a defense of Kotipelto I think he is the better singer overall in fact hes my favorite metal singer. I agree he was out of tune and did have plenty of vocal errors even today. However, Tolkki > Kotipelto = pre-fourth dimension albums Kotipelto > Tolkki = Fourth Dimension albums and above. I cant picture tolkki singing uplifting or fantasy themes songs like anthem of the world and Speed of light or SOS the way kotipelto makes them sound....in the studio (I agree live koti is janky) xD BTW can you also tell me the real reason why tolkki did a dumbass move like signing all the rights away instead of firing everyone like he wanted? I understand it as they werent getting along and he was gonna create a new band anyways.
To your answer on the rights of use of the name of Stratovarius, Tolkki was not in the best mental conditions and, moved by the legal events, he wanted to move away from any future economic commitment. He left them the rights to use the StratovariuS brand but not the copyright of Tolkki's own songs.
@@EresiA77 I see. Ok also why was Tolkki disappointed that they continued as "Stratovarius" and regret it?. BTW I found this live performance that was actually really good and kotipelto didnt actually mess anything up and he sounded 95% close to the studio song: ruclips.net/video/EwBx-Zn8unY/видео.html
Who still listening this in 2024? Masterpiece 👌🏻

The magical first LP! I discovered Stratovarius in 1995 and I've loved this album for almost 25 years.
Wow, Fright Night era... The beggining of a masterpiece writter
PATCH - Music i wish tolkki stayed as the front man, kotipelto can’t sing for shit

STRATOVARIIUS 🇫🇮
Wow, rare stuff, kiitos!
thanks for upload this video
Timo Tolkki
Tuomo Lassilla
Jirki Lentonnen
Antti Ikonnen (not official member only studio keyboarder)
Idk what you mean by "not official member". Antti was in Stratovarius from 1989 until 1995 when he was replaced by Jens.
Una joya este vídeo, ojalá Tolkki con su reunión haga gira por américa latina sobre todo Monterrey México 🤘
Legend!!!

Power trio at this time?
ooh i was 6 at that time

tolkki is a better singer than kotipelto imo
