I think one of the reasons Bucks Fizz don’t get their fair dues is because they were compared to ABBA. But I really think their music is just as compelling. They had a totally unique style with some phenomenal songwriters behind them. Plus, they had the advantage over ABBA that the two guys had equal weight in the vocals, which makes for a very rich and full sound. There’s an awful lot of musicality going on in this song and it hangs together beautifully. The harmonies, the changes in tempo, the fabulous pop lyrics. Modern pop ain’t got nothing on this - a masterpiece!
