*India should make a "Made in India" certification which can only be acquired by companies who make products atleast 99% in India itself. Also India should give huge benifits and incentives to such companies making products completely in India.*

In India, elite culture is equated with consuming imported technology. Whereas in Korea it is equated with consuming and promoting their businesses. They have developed their collective sense of patriotism and elite lifestyle in such a way that is proving Highly Beneficial for Korean businesses.

Despite that they still have a sense of pride towards their own. For instance most Koreans would prefer a Samsung over an Apple anyday mind you this was when Samsung was not good enough to compete with other international brands. It is this unconditional support that has brought their local brand to such heights.

Kdrama and cdrama are also cases in point. When the consumption of kdrama content increased in china, china used the same format of drama as korean ones and started catering to chinese viewers with cdrama. India too can do that
Edit: the purpose of this comment is to highlight the importance of studying the market sensiblities and judging what the markets want to see/consume. no where in my above comment have i encouraged watching the k/cdramas. Rather the above comment is trying to emphasize the importance of nationalism in consumption of indigenously produced content (case in point, like i had also previously mentioned, is cdramas).
Secondly, these dramas are exported in high number and also serve to enhance a countries soft power which india has a lot of potential to tap into. not to copy the dramas, rather to draw upon the 'STRATEGY'.
But kdrama & cdramas have adverse effect as they are killing the creativity of youngsters specially those who are obsessed with it. Maye be it's better than American or Netflix series for them but reality is that there is nothing in the story except for romance. But I do agree that India should produce good stories,dramas,series to reach the global audience.

A classic example of this is when Mahindra acquired Korean passenger car manufacturer Ssangyong but as soon as the news came into light Koreans themselves stopped buying it because Ssangyong was acquired by Mahindra. And the same was done with heavy vehicles manufacturer Daewoo after it was acquired by Tata. Now you can imagine the situation.

Each and every entertainment industry uses it's cultural softpower to play with the minds of its citizens, Like Marvel and DC portraying "American Dream", Anime and Manga creating Cultural Impact and now South Korea pushing it's K-pop music industry which basically stands on Idols creating societal standards.
Even government supports these industries in their respective countries meanwhile all Bollywood as a pan Indian industry had done is portraying western/alien standards to Indians as a way forward. Neither they had nor they tried to elevate and promote our own identity to its fullest to create Indian soft power. Only thing Bollywood had contributed is adding to meme material on global stage.

I am working in japan for last 4 years. Due to our poor quality and services,they never allow indian companies. In past there are many cases when indian companies supply poor quality of raw materials. Your point of view also valid.
My south korean translator friend got horrified when he thought he could live in India by being an authentic korean getting translational jobs, literally every Indian company in the corporate meeting with recordings etc asked him to lie and say they will give this and that as word of promise. One company made the sth korean company trying for a venture loose all faith and leave and in that lost deal even my south korean friend still isn't paid by that Indian company, he posted on twitter that indians are this and that and sadly another indian citizen living in south Korea paid him out of shame and begged him not to disclose what his fellow citizens did. My friend refused the money and went back to Korea.

I feel the same as well. There are many Indian Tech product companies like Boat, fireboltt , these companies enjoy profit from Indian consumers but 90% of their products are made in china. Even after so many years they are not even 50% indigenous. It is our mistake, we want made in India but in the end we seek profitability.

Sir, I think main problem is lack of innovation and r&d in our country. Till the time we copy others we can’t revolutionise our own industry and change consumer mindset. Indian consumer believes that the things which are getting outsourced are better than indigenous. Even if they are in some cases, we are not properly marketing them.

To be honest,
I'm proud to be an indian but i think that we often delay to learn from other countries,their staratergies for boosting their culture and their finances
I've been watching and analysing k-pop media in which like you can see that those people are clearly not begging to be called modern just for sake of matching the western culture
They have their own music speciality ,their own style of film making and also they subject their movies on many diverse topics like-meantal health,businesses,relationships too,culture etc. Which eventually gives them their own theme of industry
I think that we can do same too but since k-pop bands,entertainment companies not only big companies but also beginners are appreciated and supported by government and people which makes a positive impact for future participants and also decreses professional traffic!!
We can also motivate the youth to participate in other industries too other than educational fields only!
And the government should also take steps to provoke enthusiasm in indian youth to take actions for our country!!

This is rally a bitter reality of our country. We seems to be patriotic only on social medias and on national holidays. I thank honorable Piyush Goyal ji and Prashant Dhawan sir for bringing this issue to light. South Korean companies and entertainment industries have captured the Indian market for long. FTA on automobile sector along with deficit categories needs to be reviewed and maybe tariffs needs to be levied on these one way profit machines.

FTA ka nuksan hi hota hai but abhi bhi Bharat galti kar Raha hai Kyonki Bharat FTA karne ko consider kar Raha hai with west. Gulam mansikta ke Karn Bharat ke Lok pehle hi west ko superior samjte hai, agar west ke Sath FTA kar Liya Bharat ne toh Bharat ki local manufacturing,local business ka bahut Jada nuksan Hoga aur country ki wealth bhi drain Hogi to west. Also FDI to Bharat from western countries and their puppets should be restricted. Any investment by foreign country is in actual a drain of wealth for longer run. Bharat ko south korea,japan se FTA cancel kar dena chahiye. Aur west ke Sath koi bhi FTA Nahi karna chahiye. south korea se bhi bahut Jada dangerous Hoga west ke Sath Kiya geya FTA.

Neither Indian companies have that kind of reliable products of that level, nor their services are that efficient, nor Indian companies provide that kind of variety. But when Govt of India started giving importance to "Made in India" initiative , i thoroughly check first whether it is "Made in India" or not.

So wherever we find value we just move towards that. We Indians don't have the luxury to do what we like, we have to do what is needed. And therefore we had to choose that gives value and can't be patriotic even though we wanted. And by Value I mean the money and utility value.

Sir, Govt has taken a number of initiative for promoting indigeneous product like "Vocal of Local", PLI scheme etc. But all the scheme is related to supply side. Govt. can take initiative for those consumer who purchase make in India product with a preference. I know implementation will not be so easy. Govt should develop list of brand under different category for various items which can be consider 100% indigeneous products. Consumer can claim incentive by submitted bill / voucher for purchase of those article which is consider as 100% indigeneous through a portal.
Good that Piyush goyal sir said this openly so that this can reach to more people. Definitely we need to change the mindset of savings some hundreds by buying cheap foreign products, because our this saving of hundred or thousand is making our country lose BILLIONS 😔

One thing that I want to point out here is that most of the Indians are usually unaware what brands are Indian and don't take the pain to figure this out while buying a product. I believe we should start promoting certain Indian brands that are conforming to the standards and have potential and maybe give tax concessions to other Indian brands. Some of the top Indian brands that people actually don't know are Indian are: Allen Solly, Royal Enfield, Lux, Horlicks, Pond’s, Lakme, CCD, Micromax, East India Company.
Looks like you don't know how come micromax failed in India after it's initial success.
They purchase cheap chinese mobile phones and sell them in India....which when chinese companies realised they brought their mobile phones and thus micromax failed.
Similarly many other companies do this (like in EVs) for their bigger profit so that they don't have to invest in R&D.

The solution to this problem is Govt of India must set up 'Bharat Quality' (should close ISImark) which test Product as per International Standards which will increase& Build the Trust and Demand for Local and indigenous Products As Indians and Nationalist want to prioritize and purchase Indian products if Quality Standards are high and meet all parameters without compromise. please make a reel or quick video so somebody at a high level will listen. please consider the request.

Patriotism in India is mostly confined to cricket and tv debates, having said that, Indian companies need to upgrade their quality and services because of which many who want to go for an Indian brand end up going for a foreign brand.
