After missing them on so many occasions in the past, I've now had the privilege of seeing Kali Horse for a second time in just a matter of weeks. Sam Maloney and Desiree Das Gupta are a true force to reckon with on the local indie scene, creating a brand of post-psychedelic art-rock that borrows from the past but is presented in a refreshingly unique way. It should also be acknowledged that Maloney is among some of the best guitarists I've ever seen 🤯
Officially announcing the start of every summer, Toronto DoWest Fest in the heart of Little Portugal is an annual celebration of music, arts, food, fun, and community that takes place along Dundas St W, from Ossington Ave to Lansdowne Ave, covering 16 blocks of the city. Do West Fest brings the neighbourhood together and draws visitors to the area to explore shops, food, and rich cultural diversity.
FYI, I always try to take these vids in a way that does not distract the people around me. If I'm in a spot where this is not possible, then I refrain from filming. These are strictly for the purpose of preserving a few memories for myself and they are (obviously) not professionally done.
