I think Inland Empire is his masterpiece. Mulholland Drive is up there too. But yeah I think season 3 of twin peaks is his greatest achievement. I just consider it an 18 hour movie. I’ve watched it 5 to 6 times already. No one captures what it is like to be in a dream like Lynch. True master.
Dave, I have also KL Lost Highway but I will pick up the 4K Criterion edition ! Inland Empire is coming also inside Criterion Collection during 2022 and I hope sometime Criterion will release Wild at Heart and the Straight History and his short films to have the complete Lynch Collection.
Oh yes, hopefully we will see Inland Empire get a release too. I saw it years ago and remember being very confused by it and not a fan it being filmed all digital but am excited to view again with a new appreciation and perspective. Straight Story is one of my favorites but who knows if it will ever get a Criterion release. One can hope. 😀
Hey Dave, I was very excited to hear about this today! David Lynch is apparently a Criterion fan and will get always involved with releases of his film by them. I think I had read something along the lines of him not caring to get involved when any other company handles his films. I want to say it was actually when Kino released Lost Highway that that that info came out, due to his lack of involvement with that release. Anyway, very glad to have another Lynch Criterion release soon!
Sometimes Lynch feels pretentious and purposefully obtuse, but his work is always interesting and well done. I have several of his films and look forward to this because I never got around to getting it despite it being on my wish list for years.
Yes very true. Over the years, I have gained much for respect and appreciation for Lynch as a filmmaker and artist and really seem to connect with his films. I think The Straight Story is so underrated and a masterpiece in my humble opinion.
I’ve seen Lost Highway but have never owned it, I will be buying this Criterion in November for sure. Lynch also supervised the restoration of Inland Empire earlier this year and it wouldn’t surprise me if that gets a release later this year or early next year.
I’m not the biggest Lynch fan and haven’t watched all his films. The ones I have were watched on the Criterion channel. Of those I would say ‘The Elephant Man’ would be my favorite but I really enjoyed ‘Mulholland Drive’ having just watched it recently. Question - would I be completely lost watching ‘Firewalk with Me’ if I’ve not watched the TV show?
Totally agree with Dave. I would say the best way to watch twin peaks is season 1 and 2 but you can skip the non-Lynch involved episodes in that season (they are crap lol), then fire walk with me, then (the best) season 3.
Season 3 of twin peaks was the greatest thing ever made lol. By far the most original filmmaker of all time! Great video!
I agree! Thanks very much.
You speak the truth

cool stuff, i currently have mulholland drive, and elephant man. looking to complete the collection soon.

It’s a Disney film so I doubt it will. But I too love Straight Story. Lynch put his heart into that beautiful film. It shows. ❤️

Yes, this news is very exciting. I’m happy to have the KL release up to now but thrilled to see Criterion add this one.

I'm excited about the possibility that, some day, maybe all of Lynch's films will have a Criterion release. I guess we'll see if that happens.
Yes, I totally agree. Getting closer. 😀

Lost Highway is at the top of my list and I’m hoping for an Inland Empire release too.

There are spoilers in “Firewalk With Me” so I’d recommend watching season 1 & 2 before the movie.

Surprise video is today
Yes, thanks!
Are those the bluray or dvd version?
@@tanianeira9532 Blu-ray versions.
I have this Kino Lorber’s Lost Highway Blu-ray, horrible sound, not so great image. I’ve already ordered the Criterion version.
Yes, love the Criterion version.
