It's funny because I bought olaplex 6 first and then the 9 when it came out. After trying both for a couple months I was very undecided as to whether or not I would repurchase another bottle of either of them. 1) I was questioning how much of the bonding technology I was actually getting and 2) whether or not I needed both or just one over the other. I had the same conclusion that 9 was kind of unnecessary and whenever I used it either alone or with 6, my hair would always end up feeling clumpy and I wouldn't be able to easily run my fingers through my hair. Also, even though I got 9 weeks after no6, it ran out sooner. No6 definitely gives a smoother blow out and is just overall better

Thank you so much for making these videos. You have a great way of making things so much easier to understand. I’m learning so much and feel so much more empowered about Looking after my hair. I adore you!
I feel for the hype too! I have 6 and didn’t like it because I was told to put it in at night on dry hair as a leave in conditioning mask at night. So then I brought the 9. 🤦🏼♀️ I’m excited to become friends with number 6!
I agree with everything he’s saying, but would add a few things. If your hair is prone to frizz, nothing is going to eliminate it- for more than a few minutes except a Brazilian blow out. Period. I’ve had one, went to Miami a month later, and had no frizz- none. The main point of using an oil in your hair is either for controlling frizz (by about 20%), smoothness and/or shine, or to keep the ends from drying out. If your looking for the latter, oil should be used on wet hair. Why? Oil is less dense than water- meaning it sits on top of water. Water can’t get through it. So if you put oil on your mid to ends when hair is wet, it quite literally traps the water from evaporating. The water is forced into the hair to retain moisture. I like the Agadir argan oil because it comes in a spray bottle. The mist is divine!
I just returned this set to the store. It didn’t do anything for my fine, wavy highlighted hair and the 9 serum tangled it a bit. I didn’t use much either. I do love the Olaplex shampoo and conditioner and the #3.
*Excellent Review* . Thank you for sharing your haircare secrets, my strands are improving and the money I'm saving from not being on a product roller-coaster is amazing. I'm really enjoying your channel.
I use these three. You’re right - the 9 isn’t really weightless. I have long hair and I only use half a pump. I then mix 6 and 7 (applied fo damp hair). I air dry my hair then use a fine mist of heat protector and straighten. I find it works so well, but I have hair that tends to frizz and I’ve spent years trying to find something that works. One tip if people do want to use these three - use as little as you can get away with. You don’t need the amount you think you do! For those who want to only buy one - 6 is probably the winner.
@@BlowoutProfessor it’s awesome how interactive you are with comments! Thanks for the reply. One question - I love what you said about the hair care industrial complex because it rings so true - I have to wash my hair a day earlier than I used to because of using these Olaplex products - as much as I love them, it’s a bit of a pain. I worry about product buildup as 6 (and possibly 7 I think?) have silicones in them. Is there a clarifying shampoo you’d recommend to guard against this? Sometimes my hair isn’t as shiny as it used to be when I first started my Olaplex regime when the shine was off the charts!
Thanks. The grocery store had 25% off Olaplex. I bought 3, 4, 5 and the oil. After watching several of your Olaplex videos I returned 4 and 5 and bought 6. 😅
I have been binge watching your videos.🥰 You are so well spoken. Thank you! In one of your prior videos I think I heard you say we can apply no. 3 to dry hair before shampooing, is that correct? Also, is it okay for hair to be dirty (day 5) and use no. 3 or does it work better on clean product free hair?
Yes I have these same questions. I think I'm going back to Olaplex 3 after I finish my K18. I have enjoyed the K18 because it was simpler than Olaplex but not if it doesn't matter if it's on dirty or dry hair!
Thank you for this video!! I thought it was just me “thinking” that Olaplex products weighed my hair down a bit. I have a lot of hair, not thick just a lot. I will say I do like the Olaplex oil AFTER blow drying.
The part where you talk about how people who are trying to sell you products have absolutely no idea what they’re talking about is so true. I had a hair mask from brand HairLust and one time I ended up on their instagram page and saw a promotional post for that exact mask. They were listing beneficial ingredients from it and highlighted caffeine, saying it stimulates scalp to promote hair growth. In the comments I asked if that was the type of mask you can apply on roots too, because I had no idea and was applying it on lengths only (cause they had no specific instruction about application on the packaging) - they replied to me that they recommend to apply hair masks 3-5 cm away from the roots. How the hell is THIS mask of yours gonna promote hair growth then? Fuсk off! I was so annoyed.
What do you do if you have coarse hair though? What I mean is: how do I use enough product to get a smoothing effect without weighing my hair down? Thank you so much for you videos. Your advice is so helpful
Great question! Redken Rebel Tame is super light but very good at smoothing. I only found it because I test and try every major product I can find 👍 Takes a while to find the good ones
Hi Chris, love your videos! Could you do a wavy hair video? The method advises us to use a curl defining cream, and a gel, and diffusing/air drying after. If I add in a leave in, an oil, a blow dry cream, I feel like it will make my hair super greasy. So how should I go about it?
Any chance you could mention shampoo ph levels? My hair is super dry and tangled easily and I’m desperately trying to find a shampoo that is good for frizz but also doesn’t weigh hair down in the root area. I’ve heard that low ph shampoo is the answer but I just don’t know. Anyway, thank you for all the great advice!
K18 Shampoos are just what you are looking for! They have one to clarify and one for every day. The maintenance shampoo is pH 4.5-5.5. I just used it again today and my hair feels fantastic. I also used the K18 mask and it has really helped my long hair.
Hey Colleen! I don't go by PH. I haven't found it to be useful at all. The whole PH thing just sends people running in circles wasting time and money. I ONLY select products on their actual results. Not their hypothetical PH 👍
Part two it would be nice to show a difference with these products and routine with different age hair 30-year-old 40-year-old 50-year-old at Cetera. That would be very good for your audience.
If you have split ends/breakage how often should I put oil on my ends and if you have healthy ends how often should you put oil on your ends to prevent breakage/split ends.
I would like to thank you for all the information you share online! I have changed my routine from washing every day to 3 days & my hair is so much better! I quit coloring my hair last year & went gray.........Do you have any recommendations for taking care of gray hair. Texture is very different. Thank you for what you do!
Hey Teresa! Yes great point. Grey hair typically has a coarse texture which can be tough especially if you're still transitioning and the rest of your hair isn't grey yet. Coarse hair loves to misbehave and do it's own thing so the best thing is to blow dry and force it into doing what you want it to do :)
In Mallorca it’s imposible to find out the leave in conditioner you are using. Are there anything similar in kerastase or in a brand i could find in Spain? Thank you ❤
So glad i found your you tube video's a couple of weeks ago. For me very usefull information. Bought some Olaplex products, and pureology leave in conditioner. All very good. Look forward to the next video already. Kind regards form Holland .
Hi I actually thought No.9 was a heat protectant so I apply it last so it can hold and seal my leave in and any other styling products....? Great vid!!💃🏽
I tried the Olaplex line up when it came out in a bundle (after using the original masque for a while). I returned the entire holiday bundle to the retailer it was that bad with my hair. I will stick with what works and mix and match product lines every time. ;)
I just bought n 9 I but it on my hair after shower and styling the results is boom I love it and I use n 7 after I never see my hair that good in my life, like you said it's better to keep it simple and don't use a lot of products
Chris love your videos and find them so helpful! I would love to see your advice for people who air dry/air style! I am really curious what products and care you would recommend!
Thanks for all your videos. I have fine oily scalp hair and my hair is constantly frizzy so I’m looking forward to trying your hair routine when I get my products next week. But my question is what did your model do to her hair at night? Did she do pin curls, silk hair bonnet, nothing?
Everytime when I blowdry my hair with my revlon heated brush and the redken's big blowout blowdrycream, my hair doesn't hold the style. I blowdried my hair an hour ago, but my hair looks like i air-dried it. What am I doing wrong?
I use this trio all the time. Maybe this is why my hair does not hold a curl at all. Maybe I will try the other way. I just don’t know what type of heat protection to get
Every time I put oil on dry hair, it makes it even frizzier than usual! But when I put it on wet/towel dried hair, it comes out smoother! Am I using the wrong oil or is my hair just a pain in my derrière?😄
I’m transitioning my hair from dark dyed hair to platinum so I can then let my natural white/salt and pepper come in. I found your channel after my first bleaching session. I added some of your product suggestions to my routine. I had so much success that I now have almost every product you say for my hair type (just using up some other products before replacing with ones I don’t have yet). I completely trust your advice now. I would rather have a small amount of incredible products than doing it all blindly. I just finished my last lightening session. My hair is damaged because there’s no way of it on how dark my hair was, but it still looks healthy and soft because I have been following your advice. Thank you so much!!!!
question, the way I am seeing this video, when you were applying the products to her hair in salon, is the opposite of what you pointing/showing when showing her day after face on photo, I believe. Maybe I am misunderstanding the face on and arrows photo, but way I am seeing it is actually opposite of application from in salon and face forward explainations. I love your videos, and not trying correct, but trying to see if maybe I am missing something or misunderstanding how /sides/ products were applied and showing
Yeah I love the Olaplex 6 mixed with a bit of the Olaplex oil on my damp hair. For me it’s not heavy at all but I have textured hair and I almost never blow dry or style with heat. Never tried that newish serum they have but if that bundle is ever on a decent enough sale I would be all over it. Just saying.
I have type 4 hair and combining the no 6 smoother with the no 7 bonding oil is the best way I found to re-moisturize my straightened hair without it frizzing up.
My hair doesn’t like the 6 in wet hair. It dries weird. The 9 is more light weight & I can skip the oil on wash days, which is when I use the 9. The 6 is great to reduce frizz on dry hair & then add oil. It really just comes down to your technique. I don’t think that you should put a bunch of products in at once, but saying that the 6 is the same as the 9 is nonsense I’m sorry. I’m not an olaplex rep by any means, but the serum has its place for me
great video, thanks for calling out that less is more I was wondering how olaplex compares to the redken acidic bonding series, as I've heard great things about those products as well, especially the concentrate treatment. Is that comparable to olaplex nr 3?
Sure Suzanne! I don't like the shampoo/conditioner for either. I prefer Olaplex 3 to the redken intensive treatment. And I prefer the Olaplex 6 vs the redken leave in styler. But honestly they are both pretty close and both will give good results 👍
I want to apply coconut oil to my hair as a mask. Some say put it on dry hair, others say put it on towel dried hair. Which do you recommend? Thank you 😊
@@BlowoutProfessor Would you recommend putting the Olaplex 7 on wet hair (when airdrying after the leave in conditioner) or waiting until after the hair has fully airdried and then using the oil on the ends?
So for olaplex 6, do I use it before or after heat protection? Or before or after blow dry cream? Because I have olaplex 6 and I don’t want to waste it
I am so appreciative of your advice! I do have a question. I have coarse hair and I use Olaplex 3, 6, and 7. I wash once a week and use Olaplex 3 before washing. But I wonder about whether I am getting the best results I could get from the Olaplex 3 since I am putting it on dirty hair. Would it be better to do my 1st wash (Redken clarifying) BEFORE the Olaplex 3 and then use my regular shampoo/conditioner/LIC/Olaplex 6 afterward? BTW I only use 6 on wash day, other than that I just use dry shampoo and Olaplex 7 on the other days.
That's a great question! I've tested 1st shampoo -> Olaplex 3 -> Second shampoo. But I couldn't tell any noticeable difference. It seems counterintuitive but those are the results I've seen :)
Number nine is supposed to be like a leave in conditioner. It has no silicones, just moisturizing ingredients. Number 6 is supposed to be a styling cream, has sealing ingredientes such as amodimethicone. I think you should focus more on the ingredients than the product descriptions..
Please correct me if I’m wrong, but in selfies the imagery is backwards - so wouldn’t the Olaplex test side be on the right (in the photo) and the trio be on the left? (unless of course someone took the photo of her and it’s not a selfie)
You know, it would be interesting to show your Trinity for fine hair purses using the Ola Plex to show the heaviness versus the lightness that would help for someone like me was an oily scalp and dry hair, because it's one thing to show these products on your models, but we don't know what type of hair texture they have
In the summer when the weather is warm your recommendation for fine hair is perfect. However in the winter when it is cold & dry with lots of snow I need to do my hair differently. Otherwise it is really dry and flyaway. Will olaplex 9 help to control the extreme dryness?
Hi...I live in cold dry climate for winter months...I also have fine hair and the products he recommends work great for spring summer...but not so good when dry furnace air comes on...could you share your findings for successful hair products for winter...thank you...❄️

Seems as though Olaplex No 6 has Glyceryl Stearate in it, which is a mixture of glycerin and stearic acid. Glycerin, as we know, attracts moisture. So maybe it was a bit more humid outside, and her hair attracted more frizz on the Olaplex side because of this. It doesn’t look as though the products on the other side contain any glycerin.
6:24 I feel like the other side of the models hair is falling apart.. the olaplex side looks good. On the other side the curls look flat and falling down

Can you suggest me which one will save my hair. I am also experiencing thinning in my hair as well. Appreciate your reply 😄
Hey Monu! If you're looking to repair your hair I would use Olaplex 3 or Redken intensive treatment. For shampoo it really depends on your hair type. my recommended product list will have the answer for you!

I thought I was caring for my hair correctly for years and years….always researching and using the best products to suit my hair but Chris has a brilliant, honest system…I bet he will be famous soon enough and have to start charging for his advice and I wouldn’t blame him as he is spot on with what he says and recommends 😊 So happy I found him absolutely love this channel x
Ahh that makes my day. Really appreciate you taking the time to post Mitch 🙏 Happy I was able to help!
Thank you your advice is amazing 🤩 x
Chris's Trilogy is so helpful, I now have my husband doing it.. he loves it
Thank you so much for making these videos.
I’m excited to become friends with number 6!
I love using the 6 and then the oil for my rutine leavinh my hair curly and airdry. I like that it reduces the frizz in my curls
What do you think of Redken's Acid Bonding Concentrate line? (Like everybody, I LOVE your videos!)
What products would you recommend for African American hair? Thank You.
Yes! That's awesome. So glad to hear you're saving money! It really upsets me when they sell you products that don't work
I use these three.
Yes! The goal is to use the least amount of products possible while still getting amazing results 👍
9 and 7 are both heat protectant so you don’t need additional heat protection
Hey Lisa! I've gotten great results on Day 5 and later dirty hair. I would wet the hair though to help the No 3 work through your hair more easily 👍
Thank you for this video!! I thought it was just me “thinking” that Olaplex products weighed my hair down a bit. I have a lot of hair, not thick just a lot. I will say I do like the Olaplex oil AFTER blow drying.
Yes many of their products are sneaky heavy :)
Please make a video reviewing kerastase range. Thank youu
Can you do an air dry hair routine for healthy hair?
Are these products good for low porosity dry hair ?
I use the oil after blow dryering and love it so much. And put it on my hair at night.
I use these three and mix them all together in my hands and then apply from mids to ends.
What about curly girls??? How do you think we need to do our routine? Thank you! I love your videos! ❤
Which Olaplex to avoid
Thank you ❤
Wow!!! Love your honesty! Keep the videos coming!
So glad i found your you tube video's a couple of weeks ago. For me very usefull information. Bought some Olaplex products, and pureology leave in conditioner.
All very good. Look forward to the next video already.
Kind regards form Holland .
Awesome, thanks Mariette!
I'm still in love with 1 and 2. Not really into silicones etc in the rest
Hi 👋🏼
So, in the styling phase, do you recommend leave in conditioner, Olaplex 6 and heat protecting cream??
Hello! Just wanted to know peoples opinions on Kevin Murphy products. Are they worth it?
I just don’t know what type of heat protection to get
Again a great video of useful information My hair is improving since I've been following you Thanks 😊
Every time I put oil on dry hair, it makes it even frizzier than usual! But when I put it on wet/towel dried hair, it comes out smoother! Am I using the wrong oil or is my hair just a pain in my derrière?😄
Hmm that's weird... What type of oil are you using? It shouldn't be possible to make it frizzier :)
Love you Chris but that paragraph says to mix 6 & 7 together, not all three of them. Start with 9 then cocktail 6 & 7.
question, the way I am seeing this video, when you were applying the products to her hair in salon, is the opposite of what you pointing/showing when showing her day after face on photo, I believe.
Do you use Olaplex 6 AND the Redkin blow out or just one?
My hair doesn’t like the 6 in wet hair. It dries weird. The 9 is more light weight & I can skip the oil on wash days, which is when I use the 9. The 6 is great to reduce frizz on dry hair & then add oil. It really just comes down to your technique. I don’t think that you should put a bunch of products in at once, but saying that the 6 is the same as the 9 is nonsense I’m sorry. I’m not an olaplex rep by any means, but the serum has its place for me
great video, thanks for calling out that less is more
I was wondering how olaplex compares to the redken acidic bonding series, as I've heard great things about those products as well, especially the concentrate treatment.
Hi…I hv fine hair. Do I need a leave in conditioner if I use no.3, 6 and 7? Tks
I want to apply coconut oil to my hair as a mask. Some say put it on dry hair, others say put it on towel dried hair. Which do you recommend? Thank you 😊
Hey Lisa! Honestly that can get pretty messy so I don't recommend people do that :)
If you are airdrying your hair, would you use the Olaplex 7 on your ends after applying the Pureology Color Fanatic Leave In Conditioner?
Yes! Oil is always last. Leave in conditioner is always first :)
@@BlowoutProfessor Would you recommend putting the Olaplex 7 on wet hair (when airdrying after the leave in conditioner) or waiting until after the hair has fully airdried and then using the oil on the ends?
I find the oil is best on dry hair
(unless of course someone took the photo of her and it’s not a selfie)
right!
@Marie He did
I thought that but honestly couldn't see the difference anyway.
@@igotasay ya....
Yes
Blow-out professor, you are delish. Love your channel. I use Olaplex 6 and I love it. I love you more tho.
Hi...I live in cold dry climate for winter months...I also have fine hair and the products he recommends work great for spring summer...but not so good when dry furnace air comes on...could you share your findings for successful hair products for winter...thank you...❄️
@@moniquemorris2705 I had to change the shampoo & conditioner for the fall /winter season. I went with the BOLDPLEX bond strengthening shampoo & conditioner on amazon. I still use the pureology & olaplex 7. Works quite well without weighing down my hair.
@@patriciakonitzky455 Thank you very much for recommendation and taking the time🙂
How do you feel about no7 as a thermal heat protectant?
Should you apply hair oil before or after air drying?
Ideally right after it dries. But if you know exactly how much to use then you can put it on wet hair 👍
@@BlowoutProfessor thanks!!😊
Nothing to do with the topic but I'd love to know what uv protector do you recommend? The sun devours my expensive highlights 😠
Which repairs the damaged hair no 3 or no 6?
J’aime vos vidéos mais je ne comprends pas trop l’anglais a l’oral ,j’ai l’huile ,le mask et le 3 mais dois je avoir le 3 pour avoir l’effet ondulé brillant ? Tu es le meilleur ami
Love watching your videos, I am always struggling with my hair..
Another very informative and helpful video!
I used to use olaplex shampoo, conditioner and leave in conditioner. Boy it was heavy stuff. Was so easy to over condition
Is it okay to brush with the Mason pearson brush with boar bristle and nylon after you put the oil please?
6:24 I feel like the other side of the models hair is falling apart.. the olaplex side looks good. On the other side the curls look flat and falling down
Great videos. So much useful information. Thank you!!
Hey Chris, In January I got keratin treatment in my hair and after some months i started struggling with irritated scalp, dry and brittle straw like hair. After searching for days I got your channel and learned about hair health. Now I am confused between redken acidic bonding and Redken all soft shampoo and conditioner.
Those keratin treatments really aren’t good for hair like they advertise. Not many people make a video on that. I don’t know if Chris did yet though.
Hi Chris. I wish you didn't promote Redken as they test on animals . Do you recommend another line that doesn't participate in animal cruelty ?
Soo happy to find your channel!!! soo good informations!!!! hOW tricky is the hair industry
the reason why oil feels weird before blow drying is cause oil and water don't mix
Thank you for your videos! I tried olaplex, but it doesn't do that much for my hair, I haven't quite figured out a routine to get rid of frizz yet....hope to find inspiration in your suggestions!
Greetings from Italy 🙂
Hey Dasi! Frizz is mostly a styling problem. Are you blow drying or using an iron at all?
@@BlowoutProfessor Hello there, thank you for answering my comment! In the last two years I've been using the air wrap, but in the previous years (51 actually) I didn't use...ehm...anything at all. I used to go out even in winter with wet hair. I always deal with a lot of frizz, whether I style or not. Or better said, it's frizz that's fed up with me 🤷♀
