And the guy was putting his cross contamination fingers in the seasoning, and Steve was using his same fork for all those different dishes. Who else would eat the rest of the food, after all that. Peaches in baked beans? That's different.
Just my opinion.... I would not use a sharping steel to poke a hole in the chicken. That is used to shave off tiny micro bits of metal off your knife to sharpen it. Unless you REALLY wash it well before use. A boning knife will work just the same.
It's not for sharpening there are not shavings it's for honing which is to realign the blades edge that's why you usually see cooks do it right over the food they are about to cut
