I was 18 and an Athiest when I joined the Army in January. I went to a Norse Pagan church service during Basic Training and truly began learning about the gods. At my two lowest points in training, I prayed to Tyr to help me through them, and both times he came through for me. Since then, I've proudly worn a Mjölnir around my neck and happily answer people's questions about paganism, and I'm pretty sure I shattered a lot of people's expectations about what pagans are actually like. I swore to Tyr that I'd devout my life to him and I plan to try and establish more Norse Pagan services in the Army as the one that I attended in Basic was the only one in the entire Army.

I am offering an addendum to Loki, having communicated with him extensively in the past: he is a trickster, not so much a god of chaos exactly. Loki teaches lessons that may seem harsh, but ultimately good for you to grow as an individual. He can and will absolutely remove an obstacle to personal growth by force if he needs to, and let you flounder a little while before helping you out with a cheeky "I told you so" attitude. He has special interest in those that feel they don't fit into rigid gender roles or a binary, or people who feel ostracized from society in general.
Walking Loki's path is full of stones and logs that he placed there himself just to see if you're paying attention, but in my experience he's always been there to pick you up and dust you off so you can continue on your journey. He's absolutely not for everyone though.

Tyr helped me during a recent dark time and justice was served to someone who dreadfully wronged my family, and Freyja has been a guide of more love and care in my life, not to mention-as silly as it is-I have a deep love and care for my cats, and when I have anxiety due to them being out late-I live in the countryside-she always seems to guide them back home swiftly. And when I first started this path, I respectfully asked the god Þor to show me a sign if the gods really were there, and not 3 minutes later on a crystal clear night, thunder began to rumble and it down poured.

I like your way of thinking even if I don't share all your views especially about the universality of nordic/german faith; but when you say how important it is for a human being to respect his parents, no matter what their beliefs are, I applaud with both hands! These are the values that our ancestors wanted to transmit to us. We can't respect the gods if we can't respect our lineage.

Great and to the point answers. Really enjoyed this video. I come from Hispanic descent, and never truly felt pulled to Christianity or Catholicism. When I learned about Norse Paganism, I was instantly intrigued, and yearned to learn more. You're videos are a great gateway for me to do so. While I am still hesitant about my ethnicity, I wish to find faith in something. The more I learn about Norse Paganism, the more it calls to me.

This was very helpful for me. I have just recently realized that this is my path at 46 years old. I grew up catholic and hated it. I was the guy that showed up for easter and christmas lol. Then tried Christianity for a while started to understand more. But never truly believed. My life has definitely not been easy lol. But the hardest started 2 and half years ago with the diagnosis for my son.. We found out that he has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Which is fatal for boys.. I feel that Thor has been calling me. I'm very drawn to him. But, all my family is christian so i'm having to keep it quite and I don't like that but i know what they will say if I told them. After doing the christian for so long i'm having difficulty with focus. I'm sure it was get better. I plan to keep watch your videos and others like it to get more information and i'm sure this will get a lot easier. Thanks again for doing what you do!

29, and I came to this one year ago. However, I was raised Catholic, always questioned the big things, and never felt a true connection within that religion it was always like it kept me at arm's length. Something happened two years ago and I felt that door close for good, what called me out of a really dark place was a kindly old man with a lantern in a dream and said seek the hills, the mountains, and the forests, and the rivers for they know more than any old book. I started a journey and due to my transition I do hail Loki a bit more than I should but, Odin, Tyr, and Thor are my chosen. It was almost an automatic connection the first real-time I tried to commune with them. I used a technique from Wicca which was basically grounding - which I know is not just something tied to Wicca. However, since then I have worn my Mjolnir with pride around my neck and felt their presence when called. Thank you brother for this content, if your ever in need of a writer, would love to give back to a community I am thoroughly enjoying.

Then my grandfather died and I really started following. The death of my grandfather changed my ways because the night that he died, Odin reached to me and in my head I kept on hearing a voice telling me he died. Then when I was told I thought to myself. "That was the gods telling me."

I've felt Odin's presence a lot lately. Even though I am a Lokean, and a follower of Loki. So, brainstorming together, asked my friend,"I wonder why",and she gave me some good advice, that maybe since Loki knows I have his back and give him support he's taken a back burner and you're being called on by odin. Maybe Odin has things to tell you. a d I was like,he is wise. Hmmm. So Odin helped me out lately, so I'm taking on what we brain stormed seriously and am going to make offerings. Because I feel like Odin is calling me. I,am a pagan. I love it, and I love your channel. Thank you always for the helpful information.

    Thank you for answering questions.
Ok note as i was watching this , I chose loki as my patron and i smiled when you said dangerous path. I told him i would love you as my patron. Here my reason why :
He my opposite and i desire change , deep inner transformation. To not break under chaos , to laugh and not be stiff. To have someone shake my world if am growing too stagnant , to loose what no longer serves me , to be refined , mold. For once be the metal being bent and shaped. To be pushed , to have the soap box kicked out from out under feet. To learn to stumbled thru life laughing and to step outside of my comfort zone. To always go thru change. To see the bitter ugly truth of my self as much as i would like to be not too serious.
    Still thank you.

It wasn’t untill I was early 30s before I felt this . It’s because being a Christian we were told to never think outside that box - and so we don’t .
We feel wrong for doing it- as if we’re going against god. But I learned that’s the exact problem is it doesn’t let us think for ourselves. Once we think for “ourselves “‘then do what you FEEL is right . Not TOLD - but FEEL. And if it FEELS right then that tells you that someone isn’t making you feel it . It’s yourself that is . That’s what happened to myself and it has FELT right ever since and still going !

As an addition to "can the gods be mad at you?"
Coming from someone who came from Christianity, to atheism, and then finally to the norse gods, they won't be mad at you and punish you *for no reason*.
I came to this realization after having an incredibly bad day, and the whole time I was trying to figure out what did I do wrong, and a while later reflecting on it, I realize that no, I didn't do anything wrong, I was just having a shitty day. I realized as well that my reflexive thinking that they were punishing me came from my internalization of some aspects of christian dogma.
For me personally, I realized I wasn't supposed to fear them the way the christianity teaches you to fear its god. They're with me to guide and teach me, not to punish me. It might feel a bit odd to wrap your head around, especially if one of them is Loki that you're following, but yeah, essentially from that big ramble, they won't be angry for no reason.
Sometimes it's just a shitty day.
edit: Yeah, at this point, I'm relatively new to the norse gods. It's only been a few months so far.
