    This is obviously a good and decent man who seems to have a gentle spirit. It breaks my heart to think that many just like him were put into the hellish violence of that brutal war. God bless you sir for your service to our nation.

      This interview was just dang near the most boring I’ve listened to. You’re right. The lady interviewer had NO idea of how to draw this man out. He is sitting on a mountain of experiences, and she is asking him inane questions, and not leaving him room to expand on it by asking him another pertinent question. Perhaps a military man doing the interview would be more helpful. His son going to Iraq was eye opening. He got to see the other side of the coin.

      @@jimjustice581 I did 2 years in Vietnam. Ask me a question.
      Perhaps start with this.
      Did you see US soldiers sever the heads of Vietnamese and leave the head on one side of the road and the body on the other?
      How about.
      Did you see US soldiers turn up with a smart a$$ kill kill attitude, only to watch them cry to sleep?
      Or even.
      Why was the US there any way, was the US under attack or did the US just got there for financial reasons?
      Here's another one.
      What is it like to go to a country to kill people you have never met, who have done nothing to you and vice versa?
      And lets finish with this one.
      Has the torture stopped?

    Here's my story. I avoided the war at all cost. I knew it was BS as a teenager and that I wasn't going to waste my life for something that did not matter to Americans...and really a lot of Vietnamese. I am proud that I stood up for myself and was willing to deal with the consequences that could result from one avoiding the draft in the US. Patriotism has more than one face. Life IS important but tell that to the US Government. The reality for these guys is that they did NOT fight for my freedom, save me from anyone or anything nor preserve my lifestyle. That's all delusional propaganda and BS. A country the size of North Dakota, almost 8000 miles across the Pacific Ocean on the Asian mainland meant nothing to the US...whether we won or lost. These guys should just be glad they survived and take their "stories" quietly with them. They did not have a right or legitimate reason to be there...so what story needs to be shared...really?

    • @RResidentAlienNN
      @RResidentAlienNN 3 года назад +5

      They fought for eachother. They had no choice. Not everyone ran and hid like you when drafted. They thought the same thing about propaganda and the war. The only difference is they didn't run and hide. You did.

    • @RResidentAlienNN
      @RResidentAlienNN 3 года назад +2

      Shows exactly how educated you are to think they started the war and not some politicians. Go on Nancy Pelosi videos and cry to your local politicians. People want to hear they're stories. Look at the view count and like to dislike ratio. I rest my case. Your comment falls on deaf ears on this video. Go cry to someone else.

    • @topgeardel
      @topgeardel 3 года назад +5

      Thank you for clarifying that for me....and basically demonstrating that you're full of sh*t. They HAD choices, just like I had. I was man enough back then to understand that, and accept the possible consequences that could result. "Run and hide"....when it comes to Vietnam??? You don't know what you're talking about. You've been fed a line of BS little boy. That's OK...try keeping it to yourself. You're the sad type of man that will walk off a cliff if your government tells you it's the right thing to do.

    • @topgeardel
      @topgeardel 3 года назад +2

      @@RResidentAlienNN Lmao. The "like count" ? You mean other Vietnam vets appreciating other Vietnam vets? It is impressive. And BTW...where do you get the impression I said the troops "started the war". ? That is a reflection of your reading ability....and you're telling me about how uneducated I am? I was around then...were you ?
