    Your motor is missing a thermostat. The military likes to remove them to reduce cab heat on hot days. Install a cat thermostat and your engine will run more efficiently and correctly. The temp sending units (both of them) work as they should. The reason I can tell is because my truck acted the same way. That needle should be at 180 degrees within 15 minutes of driving if you have a thermostat installed but like I said 99% of trucks are missing them.

      My truck's fan would active at that first little tick mark below the 165... so the switch was bad. Now, at least I can get it up above the 165 mark. I believe you are correct about not having a thermostat. It should get up to a higher temp regardless of how big the radiator is and how cold it is outside... so the thermostat also must be missing. Thank you, again, my friend!

      @@HelicoolsHelipad Cheap and easy. I think I paid ten bucks for a genuine cat thermostat. Your truck will run much better with it. Mine does...

    Dave, silly guy. Leave them in that park position and remove each wiper arm and bolt it back down into the park position you want. I had to do this when I first got my truck and have never had to go back and fix it again. You crack me up. You can burn up the motor holding onto it like that.

    • @HelicoolsHelipad
      @HelicoolsHelipad  3 года назад +1

      I'll take your word for it... I thought if I did that the wipers would try to wipe the front grill, too. Thanks for the suggestion... giving a shot right now. Cheers!

      @@HelicoolsHelipad That is not going to work. Because the low point of the wiper stroke is at the bottom of the windshield, repositioning the wipers will only make them run off the bottom of the windshield (too low). You're going to have to re-adjust that link behind the heater.

    • @HelicoolsHelipad
      @HelicoolsHelipad  3 года назад

      @Cory Gill when you turn your wipers off mid wipe, they don’t just stop where they are, right? They go to the park position, which is at the bottom of the window. My adjusting bracket slipped. And now my park position is beyond the full strike of the wiper, causing them to park part way back up.

      Indeed it does, my friend. Since I have both the dash and the power distribution panel all pulled out to install the remote start project, I guess I can also pull the heater.... not that I want to, but I have to. Blessings on you and your family, always.

    My fan is stuck right now. Solenoid gets really hot when I shut the fan off and doesn’t actually disengage. Gonna rebuild the solenoid or at least clean it to see if that helps and lightly tap the fan clutch to see if that will work. Always appreciate your videos!

    • @HelicoolsHelipad

      I used to test my fan cut off switch every once in a while just to exercise it. I have heard those are a major pain in 'you know what' to pull and rebuild... I pray for you a quick and successful fix.

    Mine sometime runs too hot- I then reach over with my special FMTV stick and whack the fan solenoid. Aw, technology. Also- your truck may need a thermostat.

      You may also have to replace the temp probe sensor. With the fan on all the time, you will have to rebuild that clutch... I do not envy that. Best of luck... it just sucks to get to it.

    • @HelicoolsHelipad

      Ebay, Midwest... The best way is to look for a part number on the component and Google it. If all else fails, joint the FB LMTV MTV Military Trucks group. Look around for parts... if you can't find any info, ask someone in a general discussion. Best of luck, my friend.

    Two issues to deal with. 1 your left arm button jumped its center. 2 your motor jumped its stop point. This is why it drops below the window as it wips, then stops above mid window. Easy fix.

    • @HelicoolsHelipad
      @HelicoolsHelipad  3 года назад

      Easy fix? How... without moving the heater core and adjusting the bracket. That is what I am trying to figure out. There is no adjustment on the wiper motor. If you have the answer, let me know so I don't have to pull the heater core.

      @@HelicoolsHelipad You twisted the shaft arm on the motor. It has a thru hole and pin that snapped the pin, so it is no longer at 12 o'clock when the arm stops. AND take the left wiper off and check the center of the shaft. It has slipped as well. You should not be able to hold a wiper to reset its position.

    Check TM 9-2320-365-20-4 page 18-16 "18-5 Windshield Wiper Linkage Replacement" step (8) Position windshield wiper linkage ( 3 as pictured) to full left position (at rest). This is a taper fit with splines on to the motor shaft itself and much easier to see and fix as you only need to pull back fuse panel to gain access. At rest or reinstall TM says it should be pointing at what I would call the 9 o'clock position. Put an eye on it first. If you need to adjust, you may have to pry off tapered spline (from motor shaft) after removing it's 13mm lock nut. A helper will have to hold the wipers while you remove nut.

    • @HelicoolsHelipad
      @HelicoolsHelipad  3 года назад

      That makes it easy...er! Thanks so much. Should be an easy fix, then. I've had the PDP pulled back several times since this incident adding in a remote start. Piece of cake.

    • @patrickmelley934
      @patrickmelley934 3 года назад +1

      @@HelicoolsHelipad Fixed mine today and could not be more excited. Learned a lot. Disconnect motor from arm. Turn it on/off and mark shaft stop position on shaft and case. Repeat and verify. Move wiper arms by hand (with motor physically disconnected) until bracket-motor attachment is centered in mounting hole and in line with wiper linkage arm. All should be in line to 3 o'clock position, fully extended towards passenger door. Using a 1/2" socket loosen then pry wiper arms off their tapered shaft. Set wiper arms to desired park location. Back in the cab verify linkage all is still in horizontal line, correct if needed and check wiper arms again and tighten. When happy, reinstall motor's tapered shaft on linkage while holding it all in line while a helper holds arms in place. Verify nothing moved while tightening. Run a hose on the windshield and test.
