Prof: Thanks so much for this timely video. Coincidentally, I’ve been trying to learn how to shoot videos of myself and, specifically, how to use the green screen feature - I posted a question about this on one of your other videos which you very kindly answered. This video literally tells me everything in approx 11 minutes. I’ve watched other videos twice as long that don’t quite convey what you did in half the time. Again, much appreciated. 😊
Don’t stop there. I wear a green hat, and put green color on my face too, so it’s just my eyes that are showing up. People love it. I’m the hit of the meeting.
When I want to do green screen I record the video in Keynote with the background green and the camera set to remove background so I get video of just me on a green background. I use Final Cut Pro so I use the Keyer plugin but the same job is easy in iMovie. Of course, I can also record audio with it. When done I export the recording as movie.
Hey Gary, this was a particularly helpful video. Can you tell me what software/app you use to record yourself and the screen at the same time for these videos?
I do that in the app I use for video production (ScreenFlow). You can do something similar using iMovie like I show here, but the problem is you need more than the two layers that iMovie provides (me, shape, video background). You can do it in Keynote though: ruclips.net/video/8nM6ek8hNAs/видео.html
thank you! ive been looking for a way to do this! Do you also happen to know how to put censor blur or censor boxes on video if its still or a moving target?
Not easy to do in iMovie, and it doesn't look good. Basically, use this technique, but use a circle or something to cover up what you don't want to show. ruclips.net/video/9zhMTmsrcjY/видео.html
Thank You for the details everyone skips.
Thanks very much, Gary, for this informative video! Am ashamed to admit I didn't know what a green screen was for until I watched this 🙂.
Defiantly saving this for reference. Going to use this one.

Truly the best tutorial on green screen !
So simple - and extremely well explained… thanks so much
Superb explanation, Gary. Thank you.
Best explanation! To the point
For even more fun.... wear a green shirt so your head is floating over the ocean scene. Maybe wait for Halloween for that stunt.

@@chezchezchezchez What I would do to be at THAT meeting.
😂😂😂
So helpful, thank you. I needed this as I am unleveling my podcast to include video.
Thanks Gary! That’s what I want to figure it out this one.
Oh this is so useful!!!! Thank you so much!
The chair cover is a great idea. It would be useful to know what you do for lighting.

Good one.
Is there a Patreon discount code for March (not on the current site)??
Posted.
Thanks for another great video Gary. How do you add your cut out image to the shape you have with your head poking over the top please?

I use messenger all the time - there must be a way to greenscreen there too.
Does airdroping video reduces quality? I record 1hr video
No. It is sending the exact file. It isn't re-processing it.
what if no money
I give options for a very cheap green screen. Watch it again.
FIRST
