    Many people talk about the Hogan swing, but you not only explain it, but you put on one hell of a demonstration that i can understand and i can easily follow the drills. It has become so simple for me to get in all of the positions and strike the ball without any great effort. Thanks!

    Really liked your demonstration and mental picture of having the arms in front of the torso in the backswing and not moving the right arm back too much. Same thought as restricting the lead arm abduction, I think. Believe this swing thought will help me a lot. Thanks, Dan. Watching golf on TV now, and the pros are all doing what you demonstrate.

    Probably one of the best videos to get consistency back . If you followed what Dan said practice with a 9 iron / wedge and the shots will be very straight as you get use to not manipulating through impact - distance and trust will come with regular practice. It took me about 3 weeks ( 5 range sessions and 3 rounds to easily match my handicap-9)
    The wedge improvement stunned me the most .....birdie opportunities were 3 x more frequent.

    Cracking video. For me, this explains why when I shorten my backswing when my round is falling apart, things work again. Taken a look at my swing and I do wrap my arms too far around. This vid has helped understand what is going on and makes the swing feels much easier to return to impact. Thanks mate.

    This is a terrific idea to put into any golfer's head. I consider myself a pretty decent ball-striker but I struggle with dispersion because (I now realize thanks to your video) that my right arm overtakes my swing at times (winds up too far in the backswing and then pushes out on the downswing). The visual of the right elbow moving just a small amount is great for me. I can't wait to get out on the range and drill this feel into place.

    I totally agree Dan........used to be a single digit......broke my neck and lower back and now I'm all fused-screwed-wired together.........I had a hell of a time finding a swing that would work for me now.......but 3/4 swing and arms in front-----low-long-slow takeaway with arms in front saved me.......lost distance but I'm right in the middle with solid contact.......I use your video to remind me to stay within myself......your video is my last thought before I swing......lol......weird but it works......thanks !!!

    • @TheRodbond

      BTW.......I could easily be a single hndp again if I could play more......however my back will not allow it......but I'm still playing and the low 80's with an occasional 70's works just fine.....cheers !!

    There are moments in golf that changes you like getting fitted correctly and then there is this drill........ it addresses so many faults of mine from chunks to thin from heel to toe shots over the top and trapped inside. A light bulb went bang I went out side did this drill could see the and feel the difference immediately. Taking it to the range tomorrow arvo to hit 9 iron and wedge as suggested get used to the new feeling at the top. Dan you absolute genius.

    Thanks for the explanation, Dan. My own previous videos show me doing exactly what you demonstrate at 3:28 -- i.e., standing straight up as the club comes DOWN. It looks weird, and I never had any idea why I was doing this. I will definitely work on keeping the arms and club in front of me.

    Great videos Dan. Your lesson with Rick Shiels really helped me with a feeling that has improved my consistency and the quality of my ball striking. That feeling of limiting my right elbow movement has put my club in a much better position at the top and I don't re-route the club to get it back to the ball. Flight is better and straighter and I am starting to hit the centre of the club face much more often. Thank you!

    Hi Dan!!
    I'd really like to see your analysis of the swing of the rising star Bryson deChambeau.
    Also perhaps some analysis of the swing of the legendary Moe Norman, from whom deChambeau has developed some of his swing concepts.
    The "Moe Norman" type (single plane/path?) swing seems to be a LOT friendlier for 'senior" or older type golfers...like myself!!
    LOL
    Thanks!!

    Hi Dan, best explanation I've seen on shallowing in downswing. Question: every time I do this swing thought about getting hands away from me and butt pointing forward but it feels like I'm too far away from the ball. If I stand closer I start to hit it fat and get no compression. Any ideas? Have you heard this before?

      @francoisdesmoulins-lebeaul4273 8 лет назад +1

      Had the same problem as you, with my woods/driver... hips firing too fast, body extending too early, arms lagging behind.... big push-slice as the result (or plenty of manipulation to avoid that, leading sometimes to pull hooks). I've been practising moves similar to what Dan explains here and they have calmed massively my problem (by syncing arms and body you make sure that the club moves with you and therefore path problems are very reduced: it becomes more "linear", and face opening problems vanish: it syncs to your body too!)

    What is a good drill for getting the right shoulder low at impact? I am working on really turning through the ball and am improving slowly but my right shoulder has a tendency to retract and become level with my right shoulder instead of going towards the ball at impact

    • @EMD_Ski
      @EMD_Ski 8 лет назад +2

      You're no doubt looking for Dan to respond but I'll share my experience with the same issue fwiw, because having a pro help me with that truly changed my game after decades of struggling! I'd tried everything, and then worked with a great pro (Monte Scheinblum, another great pro with stuff on RUclips) who physically put me in the right position and a light bulb went off. (Funny how rarely golf pros are willing to actually do that.) Then it was a matter of taking a LOT of like 3/4 swings and focusing on firing that right shoulder down and OUT to the ball and on through to the target. I'd do like three pump drills, then hold it at like P5 and fire through.
      The real challenge was that I hit everything fat and/or high amd right when I started doing it. If I hadn't been working with a pro who told me to trust it, I would have thought I was doing something wrong and moved on. But he explained I had to relearn where the ball was in my swing.
      And that's kind of where the magic happened, as I learned how to make that swing work without, I naturally changed my angle of attack without even thinking about it. You instinctively start to let the shaft flatten out while that shoulder moves forward and down because it has to, contact amd consistency improved a ton, and my scores improved immediately.
      Oh yeah, almost forgot the most important part. I wasn't setting up with any secondary tilt at address which created problems with everything that happened from that point because all my intentions were wrong. getting that slight tilt away from the target is what set the whole thing up for me. It's really hard to explain, but once he put me in those positions, it was like my whole understanding of what I was trying to do changed, and I realized I'd been chasing positions and feels with the wrong fundamental understanding of what I wanted to do. I'd played for decades at about a 15+ HCP and over the course of one summer have gotten and stayed sub 10!👍

    if you have shorter arms, easier said then done. Tommy Fleetwood is arguably one of the best ballstrikers at the moment and has his hands get nice high and right elbow not in front. i dunno maybe looks are deceiving
