Anywhere in Hungary is fine by me.What I really appreciate is your dual subtitles. I cannot tell you how helpful this is for me as someone who is trying to learn the language. Thank you for your effort in doing this.

Just a heads up the Hungarian subtitles on his videos are very inaccurate and at times gibberish. Just thought I’d warn you.

@@FrederikCorneliustravel Siófok is not the capital of Balaton. The true capital of Balaton is Keszthely. Siófok is a typical cheap communist era resort town without any significant old architecture. It is no wonder that the number of western European turists is much lower in siófok than in Keszthely.

7:40 Those stautes are the 4 remaining pieces of Imre Varga's Martyrs' statue group. The 7 original pieces were named "Martyrs of the Hungarian Soviet Republic from Somogy" and they were unveiled in the city of Kaposvár in 1985, but after the end of the socialist regime, the stautes have been removed for political reasons in 1991. With the goal of creating a collection of Imre Varga's sculptures, Siófok requested these statues, but unfortunately 3 of the group of 7 have been lost. Considering that the sculpter was from Siófok and his works were influenced by the same town, Kaposvár has given Siófok the remaining pieces. Those 4 statues have been standing there since 1996.

At 6:35 it was the statue of Czóbel Béla, famous Hungarian avantguard painter (1883-1976).

Indeed, I remember Siófok for partying when I was young. We would take a late boat from Alsóőrs to Siófok, party all night, head back to the pier (and sometimes sleep there on a bench) and then take an early boat or train back home. Very tiring nights but lovely memories!

Siófok is the place where we were robbed....so for me this place is not the paradise. At the police station they said that unfortunatelly it happens frequently. Northern part is much more likeable.

Hungary is special because Eastern and Western cultures are both present, this is uniq especially for western people, and you will also find the communist past. Next time visit Balatonfüred one of my faverit town next to Balaton, or Balatongyörök. Im waiting for the full video with love.
